Hertz guarantees 10-minute check-in

Hertz is launching an online check-in service that will allow customers to use a self-service kiosk at the rental location rather than waiting in line for an agent. The new kiosks and express counters are at 50 airport locations, including BWI. Hertz is banking on this move saving customers time or else they'll have to pay. Hertz will give a $50 credit if you started your check-in online and then had to wait in line more than 10 minutes at the kiosks.

Listen, any company that recognizes my vacation time is precious will be more likely to get my business. Now, will it actually save time? Who knows! Renting a car always seems to involve too much paperwork and too many pushy questions about which insurance/gas option you want. When what you really want is for someone to hand over the keys so you can get rolling.
