Priceline guarantees the sun will come out
This spring’s weather has been a rocky ride and now hurricane season has arrived. Any big storm - or even a small one - could totally dump water on your travel plans. If you’re a Priceline fan, their new “Sunshine Guaranteed” vacation packages seem to offer a bit of reassurance. Book by July 17 and Priceline will refund the full cost of the trip if your vacation is “rained out.”
What’s “rained out,” you ask? Priceline defines it as when it rains for more than one-half inch per day -- as measured at the destination airport -- for half or more of the vacation. And while you’re stuck in a hotel room with the kids bouncing off the walls, you can keep track of the precipitation at their partner site WeatherBill.com. With this deal, you may not be chanting rain, rain, go away.
To get the guarantee, you have to travel by Sept. 7. But the hurricane season lasts until Nov. 30, with predictions of 15 named storms, so I’d say a little trip insurance may still be a good idea.
