Get on the Megabus
Megabus.com gets rolling in the Baltimore area Friday. The low-cost -- and we do mean loowww -- bus service will make daily trips from White Marsh to New York. The carrier has said it would offer early-bird fares as low as $1 when the service begins. Will the Chinatown bus feel the heat? Will Greyhound roll over? Will MVP keep the title?
I don't know. I haven't been on a tour bus since the 1980s, when I took an ill-advised trip to Mardi Gras with a bunch of college friends. But with the price of gas, all options are on the table.

I have taken the Peter Pan bus from Baltimore to NYC and it was a great alternative to driving and A LOT cheaper than the train, which is probably my favorite way to get there.
I haven't tried the new Chinatown service but have heard nothing but raves.
I would be more inclined to try the MVP if it left from the city. White Marsh is a pain to get to for me. So I'll probably try the Chinatown bus next.
