New screens at BWI show weather updates and if your flight is delayed
Have you frequent travelers noticed the new flight tracking screens now up at BWI Marshall Airport? They allow you to visually track the real-time location of your flight and get up-to-the-minute weather conditions when you check in. On 7 monitors positioned throughout the upper level of the passenger terminal near the traditional flight information screens, the new FlightView system gives travelers current information on where your departing plane is in the sky and how long you may be delayed. In other words, before you pass through security, you’ll know approximately how long your gate wait will be.
The new monitors, which BWI installed last week, display maps and graphs listing all airlines and flight numbers for commercial flights departing from and arriving into BWI. Departures are marked blue; arrivals are shown in red. According to FlightView, a subsidiary of Boston-based RLM Software, the flight tracking technology is in use at more than 200 airports, primarily in the U.S. and Canada.
