Linda Hogan says she feared Hulk would kill her during their marriage (with video)

Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife, Linda, said on NBC’s “Today” show this morning that she feared for her life while they were married.

Linda – who was promoting her recently released tell-all book, “Wrestling the Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes” – told host Matt Lauer that she “did not want to be a statistic like Nicole Simpson.”

She wrote in the book: “He tore my shirt. He threw lamps. He held me down on the bed with his hands around my throat during arguments, slamming doors, pounding walls. I was always afraid he would kill me in one of his rages.”

Linda claims that Hulk’s drug use changed him and played a role in his rage.

Hulk offered a “no comment” when contacted by the “Today” show, according to Lauer, but he did call into his pal Bubba The Love Sponge’s radio show, saying that he “never laid a hand on her.”

Here’s my take: Much like Hulk’s war of words with The Ultimate Warrior, there’s no babyface in the Hulk and Linda feud. Obviously, none of us know if any violence occurred during the Hogans’ 25-year marriage, but Hulk made a remark in an interview with Rolling Stone two years ago that is coming back to haunt him.

When discussing the messy divorce, Hulk said: “I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like O.J., cutting everybody's throat. ... I totally understand O.J. I get it.” A representative of Hulk’s later said the comments were “part of a larger conversation to exemplify his frustration with his own situation.”

As for Linda, she has always come across to me as very disingenuous. When she was asked by Lauer why she is finally speaking out, Linda gave the standard answer of someone trying to sell a tell-all book: She hopes her story can inspire others in similar situations.

“If [women involved in a violent relationship] can learn something by what I wrote – I hope I can help other people,” she said.

Well, if that’s really the case and she didn’t write the book just to make a buck, I wonder if she will be donating the proceeds from her book sales to a battered women’s shelter. I’m guessing not.

In response to whether she tried to get Hulk help for his alleged drug abuse, she said: “That’s not something that was my position to do. As long as he was in the ring and they were prescribed, I didn’t care if he took them. But he did change; it changed him.”

So let me get this straight: Her drug-using husband is physically abusing her, but it’s not her place to try and get him help. And since the drugs that are supposedly causing his violent mood swings came from a doctor, well, who cares if he takes them?

Yeah, OK.

I didn’t read Hulk’s tell-all book and I won’t be reading Linda’s either.

"In response to whether she tried to get Hulk help for his alleged drug abuse, she said: “That’s not something that was my position to do. As long as he was in the ring and they were prescribed, I didn’t care if he took them. But he did change; it changed him.”

Basically what Linda is saying is that as long as Hulk was bringing home the big paychecks so she could live in the lap of luxury and not have to work it didn't matter what it took as long as the end justifies the means.

RESPONSE FROM KE: That's the way I interpreted it.

Boy, she is not aging well is she?

She certainly learned how to do these media interviews from the best, eh?

She should've told them that one incident with Hogan was in England in August 1992. (Give us real fans a little nod.)

Linda Hogan is not telling the truth. she loved the money Hulk Hogan earned during his wrestling days.

she could have cared less about the use of drugs. what upset her was the Hulk was getting older and losing his "earning power", therefore not giving poor Linda " I can never sink" Hogan not enough money to waste!

I have to agree---it is difficult to tell who is telling the truth about what---The main point becomes though, with Linda, and Warrior, and many others throughout the years---that Terry Bollea's continued involvement in scandals and wars of words indicates that he is less than clean.
As for the drug use---we all criticize TNA for certain things, sometimes exaggerating certain things for humor--but I am in all seriousness about the next comment----I think we, as an audience, can witness the chemical changes to Bollea's brain through drug use by some of the horrible creative decisions that are made on Impact. No, it's not a joke---really watch him perform sometime with an objective eye--really think about some of the things that inexplicably happen creatively there. The Hulkster seems to spread chaos and dysfunction no matter where he goes.
(Also, I don't believe Linda to be a saint--but I hear no threats of libel from Bollea here, as with Warrior---also, for Mr. Eck--IF we assume she is telling part of the truth--while it is logical to you or I that if Bollea was abusing Linda that she would seek help, etc,---unfortunately this is one of the problems with domestic abuse. Logic does not prevail and help is seldom sought. That's why it remains a pervasive problem around the world and especially in the U.S. Is it true here? Bollea's personal relationships are as hard to decipher as whether or not some of his professional endeavors are works. It's like the worst aspects of pro wrestling have eaten him up and there's nothing left but a fake, bald, hopeless man.)

What is this about England in 1992?

Anybody with the name Hogan is a piece of sh--.

Watching Linda's appearance on Today, I can't help but not feel as sympathetic towards her as she tried to make people believe. Yes, most of us know that Hogan is an egomaniac who did use steroids during his wrestling career and maybe other drugs, but Linda didn't seem to have any problems with living on a famous wrestler's salary, or dating someone young enough to be her son.

Furthermore, I was disgusted when she thought that her son Nick's sentence for driving drunk and permanently injuring his friend, John Graziano, was "too harsh", because he "didn't intend to hurt him". It's sad when she didn't offer any sympathy toward Mr. Graziano and instead used it to attack the justice system that, in my opinion too lightly, punished her son. She came off as a self-absorbed and selfish woman.

The Hogans/Bolleas are the poster children for dysfunctional familes...Brooke seems like the only one that SORT of has her head on SOMEWHAT straight--and that ain't sayin' much...BROTHER...

Oy vey.

What ever happened to "Hogan Knows Best"?

Its all about the money with these people.

That's pretty much it.

Making false allegations like that only serves to lessen the seriousness that such a situation incurs.

It's women like her that make a joke of being beaten that leads to law enforcement officials becoming apathetic to the cries for help from women that are, indeed, abused on a daily basis.

Shame on her. May she never know what it's like to really get the stuffing beat out of you by someone you love.

If you think that Hulk is a phony, start following him on Twitter and you will realize that he's even a bigger phony than you originally thought. The Iron Sheik on the other hand? Hilarious! Get on Twitter and follow him. You won't regret it.

Not much needs added ,face it this entire family is beyond reproach, sad, sad, sad. But to those that have entirely decided that everything she(Linda) has to say is BS,ask yourself---if this is true then why hasn't Terry threatened to sue her for slander? Kind of makes you go hmmmmm-doesn't it? Personally I think they are all the fakest people known to man,but all said if he never touched her then why hasn't Terry Boy spoke up and said so? Why not threaten a court order? Why not say a word?Must be some truth to it,don't you think? I for one think that if there was absolutely nothing to the the beating and/or violence aspects of her comments then Mr.Bolea would be all over this with court orders, lawyers ---you name it,but nary a peep, this says loads to me,and makes this entire story sadder than ever for all evolved, for him doing such things, for her, never saying a word and now using it to her monetary advantage and to those kids for living through it,and obviously suffering the effects of this entirely dysfunctional family group that knows nothing but greed and how to manipulate the public to make more money and profit more from there insatiable lust for more of it and more greed, how friggin sick are these folks? And we wonder how Nick ended up in the situation he was in when he sadly caused irreparable harm to his friend? What a sad sad story, that continues due to an insatiable appetite for money and more money and ---did I mention money. Well kids good thing you ate your vitamins, listened to your parents, did your homework and did your exercises eh? I think I will go in the BR and Puke now,for a long long time.My God what this society breeds now,and people say that we are the enlightened ones, and those before us were "Pre-historic" YIKES.!!!!

Terry, Linda and Nick are white trash with a lot of money.
I actually think Brooke has a conscious.

Since I think this is bogus, I can say the two things that come to mind:

I wonder if he Hulked up before he'd lose it?

Also, it does help her claims that she has the face of someone who took a Big Boot.

It is almost impossible to sue anyone in a "he said, she said" situation such as the allegations Linda Bollea is making about Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea. The plaintiff has the burden to prove the defendant's guilt; one has to be able to prove that printed allegations (libel) or verbal (slander) are false. That can be done in several ways, such as contradicting letters, audio or video tapes, or proving a party was not where the other person alleged so as to make it impossible to have done the deed in question. Although one need only prove the case to the "reasonable doubt" standard in civil court versus the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard of a criminal case, without hard evidence to back up his allegation, Mr. Bollea would be wasting his money on a lawyer taking that to court, even with the lower standard of guilt. It's pretty much going to be up to the Court of Public Opinion to decide who is telling the truth.

Re: Mark Out --- Hulk Hogan has told the national media several lies over the past couple decades, but only wrestling fans pick up on them because the media doesn't research it properly (even though they could).

Two of the best whoppers are that Andre the Giant died a few months after WM3 (it was about 70 months) and some altercation backstage at SummerSlam '92, but looking at the card confirms he was not on that show.

Linda's entire interview is typical "Hogan" (all of them) behavior. As Kevin noted above, she did make reference to a previous Hulk statement with the Nicole Simpson comparison.
