WWE star John Morrison to undergo neck surgery
John Morrison said on Twitter that he is going to have neck surgery. He did not offer any specifics.
Wrestlingobserver.com reported that Morrison was pulled from this past weekend’s house shows and examined as to the severity of his injuries.
It’s a tough break for Morrison, who was being pushed as one of the top babyfaces on Raw and had just headlined the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
It also delays his program with R-Truth, but that isn’t necessarily a negative as far as the bigger picture is concerned. R-Truth will no doubt claim responsibility for putting Morrison on the shelf, which should get him more heel heat. And when Morrison does return, he’ll have a ready-made revenge angle with R-Truth waiting for him.
I wish Morrison the best of luck in his surgery and recovery.

Agreed that it is a shame, but does WWE ever push revenge angles like this anymore? The last big one I remember was Sheamus putting out Triple H, and the resolution to that was about a minute of Hunter squashing him during an interview before Wrestlemania.

This is the last thing that Vince or the WWE needed right now. Vince lets alot of his "high flyers" take too many risks. John Morrison having to have neck surgery will definitely limit his in ring career.

Provided he makes a full recovery, I think this is a blessing in disguise. I really don't think the feud with R-Truth was getting over and was just designed to keep the two men busy. Hopefully WWE will have something better for him when he returns, as he is one performer I never get tired of watching.

That's very distressing news. He's often sold injuries. I hoped he was selling fake injuries; not legit ones; and that when he comes back - he doesn't have to change his style of rasslin.

Hope everything goes well with Morrison. I enjoy his performances as a heel more, but really enjoy his in ring moves either way. Don't rush your rehab, we will wait John!

Was this already planned surgery or was this an injury from the recent beating with R. Truth on RAW, unplanned of course?

I really wish WWE would hire me as their chiropractor....
And I hope Morrison recovers in time to win MITB.

Sad news, and I wish Morrison a speedy recovery.
With any luck it will turn out to be a blessing in disguise, leading to a sensational storyline return and that ever-evasive big main-event push.

Depending on the length of the injury rehab, do you think this basically forces WWE to turn one of the upper midcard heels on RAW face?
R-Truth can take credit all day long but there's no one else really for him to go after now. Kofi maybe.

From what we have seen over the years, neck surgery does limit your moves you can do in the ring. I don't think Morrison will be the same Morrison when he comes back. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I couldn't careless if he ever comes back. With that said I hope he has a successful procedure etc etc. I don't hate the man...just the character he portrays. I think he has TNA world champ written all over him. I liked him back in the MNM days but I think his character is lame and corny. Oh well that's just my opinion.

Send Del Rio back to Smackdown because they desperately need another "main event" heel. Turning Christian now would be a TNA move, as it would make little sense a week after thanking his fans and repeating Edge's statement about the title belonging to the fans.
This I think would open the doors for Morrison to return, as a heel. I know the HBK comparisons get old especially when a guy is stuck in limbo way after they start, but I think much like a young HBK Morrison would work much better as a heel/tweener. Basically as a face he is the modern day HBK, which if Michaels had played during his prime he never would have become the star he did, which made that final run possible. Very similar to Jericho as well, Jericho never worked well as a true face. Always needed at least that shred of bad guy to work. Though I thought his latest run was a little TOO drastic, Jericho needs to be funny & evil. So I would package Morrison as a heel that the fans can't resist cheering for.
