Video: Diamond Dallas Page's video tribute to Randy "Macho Man" Savage

Former WCW and WWE star Diamond Dallas Page has posted a moving video tribute to the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage on his website, ddpbang.com.

For those who don't know, Page's program with Savage in WCW in the late '90s transformed Page from rising mid-carder to bona fide superstar.

I've known DDP for more than a decade, and he has said many times over the years that had it not been for Savage being so giving and putting him over, he never would have risen to the heights that he did.

Outstanding tribute story. I was working at the then MCI Center and met the Macho Man back stage during the setup for a WWF show. He was a class act -- definitely one of the greatest mic men of wrestling. In my generation during the 80's and 90's he was a joy to watch. To hear people who never watched wrestling feel sad about his death, made me realize how much of an icon he was to pop-culture.

Awesome video !!!
Thank you Kevin for shining a spotlight on it.

A week later, I kind of expected to be less sad about Macho Man dying. I was wrong. Watching this video brought back just how good WCW was when it was at its best. Wrestling today just doesn't compare.

It also makes me think: are guys even put over like that anymore? It seems like everyone who gets over has to either A- scratch and claw his way up until the fans have no choice but to respect him or B- have the WWE generate a push from whole cloth. It doesn't seem to happen like it did for DDP anymore.

(Man, oh man, did DDP not age well.)

Awesome tribute.

DDP is one of the classiest individuals I've ever heard speak of other wrestlers. Anyone he got help from he talks highly of. With out a doubt, Macho had his demons, but we will always love him.

Wow, that WAS really moving. There was a period where I stopped watching wrestling, actually back when the whole NWO saga played out, so I'm really not familiar with DDP, but just from this video alone he seems like a pretty down to earth guy - it was great to hear his memories of Randy Savage. Thanks for sharing Kevin.

Yeah. DDP tearin' up kinda got me tearin' up. [sniff] RIP, Randy.

Thanks for sharing this video Kevin. Hearing people who know the wrestlers off the air talk about them gives you a good indication of how they really are. I have always liked Randy Savage as an in ring performer and of course his on air personality was unmatched, but to hear these types of stories really brings things into perspective.

Incredible. Thanks for highlighting this, KE.

What a tremendous job DDP did in giving us ring-side seats to his stories of Randy Poffo. It was such a well done and obviously heart-felt production. Thank you, DDP. And thanks to Kevin for posting it here.

Thanks again Kevin for bringing this one to us and thanks to DDP who gave a beautiful tribute. I am always amazed to hear wrestlers talk so wonderfully about each other after working so well in the business together!

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing it with us.

DDP vs Macho Man Randy Savage was one of my favorite feuds back in the late 90's when wrestling went through it's booming period. It is nice to see Page pay tribute to a man who helped him out with his career and elevated him to super stardom. R.I.P. MMRS
