Quick hits on WWE Tough Enough

• In a shocking twist on Monday night’s episode of WWE Tough Enough, Martin – who had emerged as one of the favorites to win the competition – was forced to bow out after suffering a fractured ankle in a freak accident during a training session in the ring. With Martin gone, they may as well just hand it to Luke right now.

• Christina – who entered this episode as the lone woman remaining in the competition – may also be done because of an injury. While coming off the top rope, she landed awkwardly on her ankle and began crying out in pain. She was taken to the hospital and it was teased that she was going to be unable to continue. It’s too bad because she was really starting to make progress in the ring.

• Bill DeMott blamed Christina’s injury on A.J., and I was thinking the same thing when it happened. During a simulated match, Christina went to the top rope and appeared to be setting up for a crossbody or a splash, but A.J. got up off the mat and started walking toward her. It looked as if she had to improvise almost in mid-air, which resulted in the awkward landing. If Christina does have to leave the show, I’m sure some will see it as poetic justice that someone else’s negligence in the ring led to her being unable to continue. Earlier in the series, Ivelisse had suffered a hamstring injury thanks to Christina’s botched leapfrog and she was eliminated because the injury hindered her from competing.

• It was a cool gesture by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to let Martin hang his championship belt on the wall instead of Austin taking it from him and doing so the way he had done with all the others who were sent home. Austin explained that everyone else had been eliminated because they weren’t tough enough, but that wasn’t the case with Martin.

• I’m not sure how useful the advice was that the contestants received from Kelly Kelly, the Bella twins and Eve Torres, but I’m certainly not going to complain anytime those ladies are on my TV screen.

The preview for next week's episode indicates that Christina was standing next to Luke in the Rock's presence so it would appear that she's still part of the show.

I'm not certain why the Bella twins would be among the guest stars of the week...to this point it has been all faces making an appearance...I somehow cant imagine a Del Rio going on the show to help the guys (and girl) along, so why did they?

I was really happy with tough enough for a large portion of the season, but it seems a little obvious now that Luke is running away with it. I think SCSA made a big mistake taking out Matt and Mickael so early, even if they did make significant mistakes at the time. At least they would have the potential to unseat the top dog now.

I'm pretty sure Luke and Christina will have a job weather they win tough enough or not. Martin will too if he heals. Luke already presents himself as an interesting heel. If Luke doesn't win (which would surprise me). He most certainly would be the first one to appear on a show. Probably attacking whoever did win.

I'm not knowledgable enough to tell who's fault Christina's injury was, but it's a little silly and sexist that she's gotten a free ride for crying like a little girl over it. They've basically crucified AJ over it, but they haven't said what he did wrong.

Doesn't that mean he won't be the first one to appear on a show. I mean, if he's going to attack the winner, then the winner kind of needs to be there. Haha, sorry. I agree with you, he definitely is the better of the remaining contestants.

First off Luke is a backstabbing arrogant a$$, perhaps great for a heal, sure if he actually showed anything, watch him win, then go to OVW,get a sniff only to disappear for quite sometime,of course unless him and Patterson get a little somethin-somethin goin on. And ruzious, she is a little girl you moron, what exactly should she cry like, what an imbecile.Ok maybe a big girl, but you don't even know what is wrong with her,you obviously as stated "don't know enough' and likely have never broken or sprained an ankle or foot from that stupid comment,if you had you would know how painful these injuries can be. I have had 9 broken/severely sprained ankles 5 on the left, and 4 on the right,by about my sixth one I was used to it more and knew what had happened and what to do,but first time, try it I don't think you would like it and would venture to say that you to would cry like a little girl,no like a little boy, louder and much whinier than any tough enough girl would. Sorry but that was really a jag-a$$ comment and until you have dealt with it shut up.

@Ruzious, they did said what AJ did wrong - and so did Kevin this blog. Pay attention!

I'm calling B.S. on her injury. For one it looked like AJ was playing around or something as he stumbled towards her, she seemed to be laughing or something. Then as someone mentioned she is clearly still there when The Rock visits. I'm saying B.S. just to use as a hook to next week's episode. As scripted as pro wrestling is, reality TV is twice as fake.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I agree with you on the reality TV comment, but I will say this: If Christina was faking the injury, she's a hell of an actress.

hey kevin,

As a journalist who probably has access to more facts than me, do you have any comments on WWE's new private insurance policy? thanks-always an enjoyable read

RESPONSE FROM KE: SInce WWE talent are classified as independent contractors, I think them having there own insurance is a no-brainer.
