TNA promises 'most shocking surprise of year' at end of Thursday's Impact
TNA isn't just promoting the fact that there will be a shocking surprise at the end of Thursday night's epsiode of Impact, it's saying that it will be "the most surprising shock of the year -- guaranteed!!!"
Wow, that's three exclamation points. TNA must really be serious about it being the biggest shocker of the year. Then again, it is only February. And TNA doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to delivering on its promises of big surprises.
TNA has definitely gotten my attention, though. I just hope the company can deliver something that will live up to the buildup. Off the top of my head, I can't imagine what that would be.

TNA got my attention too. I have no idea what it could be, maybe Chris Jericho's mistery announcement has something to do with it, maybe Sting will return with blonde short hair as he used to be before the crow gimmick, but I can't think of something else... Batista to TNA?
Because the other huge WWE names who are not on WWE (Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Flair, RVD) are already on TNA
I don't think so, let's see if they deliver this promise

It's probably just Sting revealing that he stayed with TNA after all.
Posted by: Matthew | February 23, 2011 9:49 PM
Any chance Sting could be showing up? That would be huge for TNA to have Sting come back after all the talk of him going to WWE.

Well-booked storylines that make sense and create new stars rather than exploiting children of divorce and 60-year-olds with psychological issues?
That would be pretty shocking.

Wait a minute.
They already revealed that Gunner had been signed to a long term deal.
What else could it be?

Hogan return, Sting showup, Rick Flair have another retirement match. Thats pretty shocking in TNA standard.
Posted by: Adriam | February 24, 2011 5:48 AM
My wish list:
(1) Hogan fired
(2) Bischoff fired
But it's likely to be Sting returns, given TNA's skill of hyping and not satisfying. I wonder if they'll give us a full refund if not totally shocked?

Considering the folks who run the show, I'd guess it'll be something like Bishoff winning the Knockouts title or Hogan coming back to win the X Division title.
Or it could be them recycling back in another washed up veteran.

I bet it's Hulk Hogan coming back a week early. And he's bringing Brutus Beefcake with him.
Posted by: Sam | February 24, 2011 7:58 AM
Mickie James seizes the Knockout belt and title and becomes the first triple belt winner of any woman in modern wrestling history ... cause if you don't see that happening anytime soon .. guess again. :)

It's probably the return of Sting. Yawn.
Posted by: loco | February 24, 2011 8:50 AM
Vince Russo has been fired. Now that would be some shocking good news.
Posted by: Jon | February 24, 2011 9:17 AM
Batista or Sting were my first two thoughts.
Posted by: Anonymous | February 24, 2011 10:16 AM
Its obvious. RVD is turning heel.

IT BETTER NOT BE ANY JERSEY SHORE B.S. THAT IM HEARING
Posted by: SEAN | February 24, 2011 11:06 AM
Any money says that this has something to do with Jeff Jarrett/Angle. Mrs. Jarrett divorce angle?

If the big announcement is that Sting is staying with TNA, then they really are just treading water until the end. If Sting is their big get, they should have announced it LAST Thursday where it would have ended any remaining hope that he was the 2/21/11 "mystery" wrestler.
Doesn't announcing that there's a huge, shocking surprise completely ruin the illusion that there is a huge, shocking surprise? I know TNA gets off on breaking kayfabe over and over, but seriously, stop it.
I'm hoping the surprise is that they are getting rid of Vince Russo and all of the old WCW dead weight. Of course knowing Vince Russo, it'd just be a swerve.

Didn't they recently re-sign ODB? Has she been back on TV yet?
Posted by: Bill | February 24, 2011 11:54 AM
The big announcement is going to be Dixie Carter coming out as being behind Immortal all along circa Bischoff and NWO. She is going to tell the fans and her daddy where to stick it.

Shane McMahon coming to TNA.... LOL! Just kidding... even Shane's not that desperate.

Hi Kevin... great job with the blog.
Regarding TNA and it's Big Surprise, I honestly hope that it does actually shock me... as TNA has been an odd and frankly disappointing brand for some time now. They got away from what separated them, and became similar to their chief (albeit distant) rival, the WWE.
Anyway, as for a "shocker", I can see a few possibilities... and these all qualify under TNA's interpretation of the word:
A) Dixie Cater has sold TNA, or the company could be forming a merger with ROH.
B) The WWE has bought TNA (most unlikely)
C) TNA could announce a permnent move to Monday nights... using the analogy that they may take their lumps, but it's best for the long-term health of TNA.
D) The return of the six sides of steel ring.
E) Kevin Eck is the new owner or GM. =P

It's TNA. Absolutely nothing will happen.

I hope it is not the Bart Scott announcement.

Ric Flair on a Pole match?

Jericho coming to TNA? The big announcements seem to coincide in the same day! Tell me this is not true!
Posted by: Arya | February 24, 2011 2:35 PM
From watching TNA over the past year the only thing's I can think of that TNA would consider a major surprise is 1. Hogan turns on immortal and is back with Dixie Carter, 2. Karen Angle ends up with Kurt Angle (in the story line) and 3. Kennedy joins immortal.
None of these things really make sense so i'm sure Russo has thought about writing them in for this week.

If it's ODB I'm not watching
Posted by: Cory | February 24, 2011 4:02 PM
Maybe a return of the Insane Clown Posse or the No Limit Soldiers?
Posted by: joe | February 24, 2011 4:30 PM
'most shocking surprise of year'
That would have to be Sting returns and gets hitched with Orlando Jordan.
Posted by: Anonymous | February 24, 2011 4:33 PM
Sting's return being the big announcement would be as shocking as TNA claiming that they are going to do something shocking.
Posted by: scotty_danger | February 24, 2011 5:30 PM
As an aside, I think it's funny that Sting's possible emergence in WWE was being met with much anticipation, whereas now his most likely return to TNA is being met with indifference.
Posted by: loco | February 24, 2011 5:47 PM
The problem is that TNA hits us with so many shockers, swerves, and ZOMG!!! moments that we are no longer capable of being surprised by them.
The biggest surprise of all would be if they went through an entire program without a single swerve or shock, and just put on a solid wrestling program.
Posted by: jvwalt | February 24, 2011 8:39 PM
Maybe they will introduce a fake Kevin Nash and a fake Booker T, as WWE did with "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon" back in 1996.
Posted by: Christopher | February 24, 2011 10:24 PM
Sure looked to me like a 3-3-11 return of Sting--modeled after the "surprising" return on the Undertaker...TNA is such a joke sometimes...
Posted by: R | February 25, 2011 9:06 AM
Double you tee eff!!!! Do they have any creativity in TNA?
Posted by: Frank King | February 25, 2011 11:01 AM
so sting returned and beat the hardy man. so what
Posted by: warren | February 25, 2011 1:59 PM
Simply put, I have no plans to watch TNA again, at least not unless there are serious changes. Sting is their Big Shocker? Just absolutely sad.
Posted by: Greg | February 25, 2011 4:55 PM
When will the true powers at TNA get that if you put on a wrestling show people will watch. Stop trying to be WWE, MTV and any other dumb reality show. It is simple "Just Wrestling".
Posted by: Braddah Kimo | February 26, 2011 2:25 AM
Sting comes back and wins the title, they have once again managed to screw up and alienate more wrestling fans.
