Others scheduled for the signing event include Raven, Shane Douglas, Tammy Sytch, The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff among others. Doors open at 9 a.m.

I doubt that someone who has wrestled as many matches as Terry Funk has in his brilliant career would recall too many of his untelevised, non-title affairs. But, I clearly remember being in the crowd at the Orlando Sports Stadium back in the mid-70's for a bloody brawl between Funk and Dusty Rhodes. I remember it as if it happened yesterday.
It was an "I Quit" match, and they had the microphone hanging over the ring within reach of the wrestlers. After about 20 minutes of battle, Funk stood over Rhodes and asked him to quit. "Never!" Dusty yelled and he fought back. About 20 minutes later, Rhodes stood over Funk and asked him to quit. "Hell no!" replied Funk and the battle resumed. The language used on the replies got more and more colorful. At one point Funk was smashing Rhodes over the head with the live mic and the sound in the little arena was deafening. These two awesome performers beat the daylights out of each other for an hour! As usual Dusty was bleeding profusely from his forehead.

At the end, neither man had quit, but Funk lay flat out on his back, not moving at all. Wrestler Bob Roop climbed in the ring to check on Funk, grabbed the mic and said, "We need a doctor, I think the man's dead."
The fans, exhausted from screaming non-stop for an hour, went silent. You could hear a pin drop as Funk was carried out on a stretcher. Dusty sold it well, appearing to cry watching Funk's exit.
I've seen many many wrestling matches over the years, but that was the most unforgettable. The stamina displayed by those two in a brutal hour-long match was so impressive, the selling was so well-done, and the chemistry between the two was magic.

I often wonder if Terry Funk recalls that one. If you get a chance to ask him, Kevin, I would forever be in your debt.
