I picked Del Rio, since you asked "will". "Should" would be Ziggler (followed by McIntyre and Kingston).
Posted by: David | January 4, 2011 10:07 PM
Kevin, you had stated that if Kingston weren't in world title contention in 2010, something would be wrong. Now that 2010 is behind us, what is your take?
RESPONSE FROM KE: Something is wrong.
Posted by: Christopher | January 4, 2011 10:12 PM
I have no doubt in my mind that every single wrestler you mentioned in that list will be a world champion at one point or another. If I had to take a guess as to who would be the first person to do so I would say Wade Barrett.
Posted by: MitZi | January 4, 2011 10:36 PM
Voted for Morrison, not because I think necessarily that he'll be the first new champion - he's just the one I WANT to win it most, followed closely by Kingston. On the heel side, I'd say Del Rio has that rapped up.

Dan-ial Bry-an! *clap clap clapclapclap*
Voted for Del Rio, just because I think he's the guy closet to getting there of this bunch. I also think Barrett and, eventually, Ziggler will get there. Morrison, maybe, if they EVER get a handle on the character enough to really get him over. McIntyre, only because Vince promised it, and he doesn't like to be wrong. And Kofi, sadly, has no chance at this point.

How I would love to pick John Morrison but I just don´t see it. So I go with Alberto del Rio instead. Who else is on SD who is a threat to Edge?
Oh, and he´s not on your list but I won´t give up hope that one day maybe Christian will get an opportunity.
Posted by: XDreamItchy | January 5, 2011 2:07 AM
its gonna be dolph, just mark my words. vicky wont rest till it happens!!
Posted by: teddy | January 5, 2011 5:29 AM
Del Rio looks a lock to win the Title this year. I see Barrett as next in line and then perhaps Ziggler. It's still a little too early for Morrison and I don't see the other guys winining it anytime soon.
Posted by: Barry | January 5, 2011 7:30 AM
Needs more Daniel Bryan.
Posted by: Stephen | January 5, 2011 9:30 AM
order in which I think they will win the title.
1. Alberto del rio (Elimination Chamber to set up match with Rey at Wrestlemania? Would be too early and I would rather see Edge v. Christian, but I could see Rey/Del Rio happening).
2. Dolph Ziggler
3. Wade Barrett
4. John Morrison
5. Drew Mcintyre
6. Kofi Kingston
All of these guys are on Smackdown except for Morrison. Most of them seem to be the future of WWE. I would have liked to have seen Christian and Daniel Bryan included on the poll (Both of which seem more likely than Kofi Kingston to win the title).
Posted by: zach f | January 5, 2011 10:26 AM
The words "most likely" push my vote over towards Wade Barrett.
The guy is already a proven commodity and if WWE wants to get the most out of his short career, they need to make it happen fast. He's kinda like Batista in that regard, except he's already well established and won't spend time as a deacon or as the "enforcer" of a group.
Posted by: Mr. Sarcasm | January 5, 2011 10:44 AM
Wade Barrett and Alberto Del Rio are my two picks for the most likely to become world champions in the new year. Wade Barrett is involved in the now once again red-hot Nexus angle and Alberto Del Rio is being pushed as hard as the WWE possibly can.
I think it's gonna be a while before we see Morrison get another title shot. He probably will get one but I don't see it happening before Barrett or Del Rio get a run.
Besides being Vince McMahon's "Chosen One", I don't see much main event material in Drew McIntyre. He'll spend most of 2011 stuck in the mid-card.
Same goes for Kofi Kingston. If the WWE hasn't pulled the trigger on a world title run with him yet, then maybe they never will. Kofi, meet the glass ceiling.
As for Dolph Ziggler, I don't see it happening this year. Maybe in 2012.

Looking forward to Alberto Del Rio winning his first world title!
Posted by: Joey Alarilla | January 5, 2011 5:43 PM
First off those are all great wrestlers who I enjoy watching, so I'm happy about the WWE's future.
Del Rio may not get it only because he doesn't NEED it. I think belts are used mostly where they will do the most good... like Ziggler's has done for him. I like Ziggler, but the Intercontental Title has been huge for him... Vicky moreso, but he really did need the title to not be another Eric Escobar.
BUT of all that five, Morrison is the only one I am 100% certain will get it this year (unless he quits/is fired). It may not be soon (and I hope not because Miz is a great champ), but he needs it urgently.
Overall I really want to see feuds between every combo of Miz and those five above (with the exception of Ziggler/Kofi, only 'cause we just did).
Posted by: Jules B. | January 5, 2011 7:08 PM
It seems most believe Del Rio will be most likely to win a world title first but i doubt it will be before Wade Barrett i think Del Rio needs to have a program with another established star first.
But in terms of who i'd most like to see win a world title that would be Drew McIntyre.
I dont see Kingston or Ziggler in the picture anytime soon.
Posted by: Danny | January 5, 2011 7:32 PM
Who will and who I'd like to see are two very different things. I think Del Rio and Barrett will win their first titles this year. I want to see Morrison win his first title this year.
Posted by: Derek | January 5, 2011 7:39 PM
Voted for Barrett, but the one who will most likely get it - Del Rio. The man is a smooth operator, both in and outside the ring.
Posted by: Kristina | January 5, 2011 7:43 PM
Your right, something is wrong. Kofi is a midcarder and he isn't a jobber. He has no talent. 1st he is a Jamaican, then he is African, tomorrow he will be asian
Posted by: Cory | January 5, 2011 8:22 PM
Kevin,
If you could only select one of those five, who do you think is most likely? I voted for Del Rio.
RESPONSE FROM KE: Del Rio.
Posted by: Jake | January 5, 2011 9:34 PM
Mr.Sarcasm,
What makes you think Wade Barrett is going to have a short career? He just turned 30, has already established himself in the main event and the way I see it, as long as he dodges any permanent career ending injuries, has at least a good 8-10 years left on top. There's more than enough time to have him full develop, no need for any rush.
Remember, Batista was in his late 30s before becoming a main-eventer.
Posted by: Jason | January 5, 2011 9:52 PM
As a fellow Englishman, I'd love to say Barrett, but I think with the way WWE have been pushing him, it's obviously Del Rio.
Posted by: Kenny G | January 6, 2011 1:55 AM
I think both Del Rio and Morrison wll make it. Del Rio should win the title first because I don't see so many obstructions for him on Smackdown as there are for Morrison on Raw.
Posted by: William | January 6, 2011 7:19 AM
DelRio will be a World Champion in 2011, but you.....you already know that! (wink)
Posted by: KC Nate | January 6, 2011 10:22 AM
I just realized if you did this poll last year (and maybe you did) that the "correct" answer would have been Jack Swagger!
Posted by: Mr. Sarcasm | January 6, 2011 10:50 AM
I voted for Wade Barret because he has a champions body, he is great with the microphone, and he has a strong finisher.
Whoever suggested that they might move Barret to Smackdown to feud with Edge, thats a great call. If thats the case, I think its definitely Barret.
Alberto Del Rio just doesn't seem roided up enough yet to be the champ. I know Mysterio held the belt, but Del Rio seems more like an Intercontinental Champ at this point than a Heavyweight champ.
I could see Dolph Ziggler beating Edge so that they could have an intercontinental tournament. That would be a decent storyline for Smackdown, which in my opinion, is struggling bigtime for good angles.
Posted by: Doug V | January 6, 2011 12:26 PM
@Jason, difference of perception. I would consider Batista's in-ring career "short," as well as The Rock's in-ring career.
Posted by: Mr. Sarcasm | January 6, 2011 2:52 PM
Mr.Sarcasm, my point exactly. Rock and Batista had short careers....what makes you think Wade Barrett's career is going to be short? He has at the very least 8-10 years left on top, perhaps more.
Batista was in his late 30's before becoming a main event star, Wade just turned 30 this year...still a relatively young guy.
Posted by: Jason | January 6, 2011 5:22 PM
Kev,Kofi Kingston as talented as he is will always be will never be more than a midcarder.........not true. They said that about The Miz now he's world champion.
Posted by: Shawn Hart | January 6, 2011 8:32 PM
I'd say del Rio, also. He may not need the belt - and I'd agree with that - but WWE may need him to have the belt to further the Hispanic ratings. Which may have been the reason he was hired in the first place.
Posted by: Marko50 | January 7, 2011 12:45 AM
Kofi Kingston will never become world champion. I would love to be proven wrong but i doubt he would.
Posted by: Matt | January 7, 2011 2:04 AM
JoMo will definitely come close as I see him as the outright winner of the money in the bank this year @ WM. Depending on the circumstances, he could cash in... Maybe this will be the first clean cashing of the bank resulting in a victory but his character needs a brush-up...He needs to regain his cockiness
Posted by: Thom | January 7, 2011 10:06 AM
First off, which one of those guys is Triple H's workout partner. Once i know that i'll tell you exactly who's getting a title this year.
Posted by: The DragonFLy | January 7, 2011 12:33 PM
Can I change my vote to Ziggler ;-)
Posted by: William | January 7, 2011 2:20 PM
its all about the heels
Posted by: matt | January 7, 2011 2:39 PM
@Jason, if our difference of perception was exactly your point, then why are you still asking the same question?
Posted by: Mr. Sarcasm | January 11, 2011 10:43 AM
