Report: Jeff Hardy to plead guilty to drug charges
TNA world champion Jeff Hardy plans to plead guilty to drug charges in court next month, according to a report by the Fayetteville Observer, citing the Moore County (N.C.) district attorney.
Hardy was arrested in September 2009 after Moore County deputies raided his home. He was charged with trafficking in opium, two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hardy’s court case has been postponed numerous times since his arrest.
Hardy’s lawyer told the judge at a court appearance earlier this month that Hardy intends to plead guilty at his hearing on Jan. 20, district attorney Maureen Krueger told the Fayetteville Observer.
It is unclear whether Hardy will be offered a deal in exchange for his plea or if he will be able to avoid jail time.
In light of this news, it will be interesting to see how TNA deals with Hardy going forward. Will there be any disciplinary action? Will they take the title off him?

All right, TNA it worked. I am going to start watching Impact again just in case they have Jeff Hardy call in collect to deliver some in prison promos.

Katie Morgan with the ZING!
While I certainly hope that Hardy recovers his life in the aftermath of whatever justice is given, I can't help but laugh at the idea presented. TNA should've known better than to both put and keep the strap on the guy with this stuff looming.

At least in Rhode Island, pleading to this sort of first-time offense normally doesn't carry any jail time. It's normally five years probation, a five-year suspended sentence and substance abuse counseling. So, I'm guessing he probably won't get jail time, unless it's clear he is dealing and not just using for his personal benefit.

I guess the next question is: Which episode will we see Hardy lose the title to a member of Immortal with the "Finger Poke of Doom?"

On what grounds would TNA discipline him given this incident and the subsequent charges occurred before he was a contracted TNA talent?
RESPONSE FROM KE: It did occur prior to his signing, but if he pleads guilty, he is doing so as TNA's top star. That doesn't make the company look good. At the very least you would think that TNA would send a message by taking the title from him.

This gives me a great idea ... Plea Bargain on a Pole match at Genesis!

In North Carolina the charges against him carry mandatory jail time of several years. Thus if he is pleading to them he is going to jail. I would assume they have worked out a plea to lesser offenses that do not carry the requisite jail time.
