What’s next for John Cena?
When John Cena was “fired” for his actions at the Survivor Series pay-per-view Sunday night, two questions immediately came to mind: How long will Cena really be off TV (if he is off at all) and what angle will WWE come up with to reinstate him?
Based on what happened on Raw Monday night and something that Cena posted on his Twitter page, I think I might have some idea of where things are headed.

After delivering his farewell speech on Raw and leaving the building, Cena returned later in the show during the Randy Orton-Wade Barrett match and broke up Barrett’s pin attempt just as Barrett seemed to be on the verge of beating Orton for the WWE title.
Cena posted the following on Twitter today:
“Sorry I ran back in ring but I told Mr. Barrett that if he keeps taking short cuts it will come back to haunt him. Just got tix for Raw in Philly. Can only hope he makes more short cuts.”
So it looks as if Cena will continue to show up on Raw and be a thorn in Barrett’s side, which I’m guessing will lead to a frustrated Barrett demanding that Cena be reinstated so that he can get his hands on him.
Another scenario I thought about after Survivor Series ended was for Cena to sell the firing angle by being off TV for the next couple months and then make a surprise return in the Royal Rumble match. It would then be revealed the next night on Raw that WWE chairman Vince McMahon had come out of his coma and reinstated Cena as a way of getting back at The Nexus for injuring him.
On a side note, WWE moved Cena’s bio on wwe.com from the Raw Superstars page to the Alumni section, which is nice attention to detail. However, in an example of poor attention to detail, a commercial for the Dec. 29 house show in Baltimore that aired locally during Raw was still advertising that Cena, Orton, Barrett and The Miz would participate in a fatal four-way steel cage main event.

without John Cena in wwe, there is really no need to tune in. he brings life to the show. i pray he is reinstated. you are just the best Cena

it is awfull that the wwe chairman and/or boss would allow wade barrett to remain there after doing every thing he has done cena is right he dont do anything but take short cuts and he reminds me alot of shamus allways get the cheap shots but running from the face to face battles. and until cena returns to the wwe i will not be tuning in thank you wade for ruinning the wwe for me and my family

Cena can"t be faierd from WWE?

You can't put too much faith in the ads. Up until about a week prior to the episode of Raw that taped here in Wichita (Oct. 4), the ads were touting a 15-man battle royal with Nexus facing the top five superstars from both Raw and Smackdown.

Cena guaranteed multiple times that he'd give Barrett the beating of a lifetime as soon as he was either "free or fired"... I'm still waiting...

PLEASE REDEEM JOHNCENA FROM THE HAND OF THE NEXUS, ONE MAN CAN NOT FACE 7 MEN ON A MATCH,
I DON'T LIKE WHAT THE NEXUS ARE DOING, FIGHT SHOUILD BE TAG ONE ON ONE
IT IS REALLY REDICULOUS

This has to be the most unbelievable (yet predictable) storyline in many a year.
Anyone over the age of 5 knows it's all a work yet they have the commentators put this angle over as if it's legitimate.
The angle showed so much promise early on but not only did it become overkill, but all they've accomplished is to treat the fans as idiots.
I guess the one positive is that they've turned Wade Barrett into a star in a short period.

i hope he comes back for wrestlemania, there definately something not right about cena being fired, he must be coming back somehow.
Posted by: antony | November 24, 2010 6:21 AM
Apparently, WWE has signed Juan Cena, Cena's masked Latino cousin, to a contract. So perhaps "Cena" will be there after all.
Posted by: Joe | November 24, 2010 6:46 AM
i think dat cena should come back as am sick of barret pushing every 1 around
Posted by: tony rowntree | November 24, 2010 7:07 AM
I guess you haven't heard about the changes in WWE house show rundowns... a new WWE superstar is replacing John Cena.
That'd be Juan Cena.
Yes, John Cena's "Mexican cousin".
It's been reported to be a Midnight Rider gimmick.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I read that on some website. I thought it was a joke.
Posted by: Rob | November 24, 2010 7:07 AM
I haven't watched NXT yet but I thought monday night that Cena would ambush Naomi and take her place on NXT. Cena then proceeds to win NXT and come back on raw as the nxt breakout diva (so that men love him too)
Posted by: Nicolas | November 24, 2010 7:25 AM
I read on another wrestling site that booking sheets have "JUAN CENA" listed.....apparently it's John's "Mexican cousin".....that's funny!
It's a shame that "thomas" won't "tone in" to WWE until HHH & Cena come back.....Vince will miss your viewership.
Posted by: Horseman420 | November 24, 2010 8:01 AM
I have found the Cena character more interesting than ever when in the Nexus role. A personality that was torn and faced with a no win situation.
I am not a Cena hater, but boy one more Super Cena (Shane-O-Mac) comeback as a babyface and I could have hurled.
Posted by: michealdeff | November 24, 2010 8:14 AM
Haven't you heard of "Juan Cena"?
Posted by: AIRA | November 24, 2010 8:16 AM
i think cena will be back, but if he's gone it'll be for about a year or 2, they've been trying to get him out of the spotlight for about 3 or 4 years so now he's out, we can see new main eventers...now when he comes back he'll be back and better then ever you know faster stronger...and rumors have it he'll have a rivalry with undertaker before taker retires in summer of 2011...

Hi
I hope ur right, u know i really do love john cena, he is a very respectful guy
Watching him on wwe is so entertaining, i do like randy too but john is my number one.
I was thinking when it did happened first on survivor series that it would be a matter of a night and he will be back in monday night raw.
But he didn't, and the way every body said bye to him and how he did say bye was not a way that he is coming back.
I only hope ur right
Posted by: Haidi | November 24, 2010 10:02 AM
They did the same thing in Boston with the airing of a Springfield, MA house show with Cena....oops. We all know he is coming back though I hope he does take a few weeks / month off just so it can have a fresh spin when he does return.

The Jan. State College show was advertised with John Cena vs. The Miz. Of course, Barrett vs. Orton for the title was also announced so "Card Subject To Change."
Cena won't miss one Raw, but that was still a great "retirement" speech he gave Monday night.
Posted by: Russ | November 24, 2010 10:56 AM
According to Pwinsider.com and Madison Square Garden's website, Cena's Mexican cousin "Juan Cena" is in a Fatal 4 way cage match against Orton, Miz and Barrett for the title on 12-26-10. To quote the Miz, "Really? Really."

i hope john cena will stay on raw if he's not on raw then raw is not a show. do u understand me.WADE BARRET was acting like a butthole.YOU cant fire him. i hope u get this message.oh and by the way cena is awesome

CRAP.
Oh well, so much for the first time in several years they had something interesting in store for Cena. Two options could have actually could have reinvigorated Raw. 1. Cena off TV for a couple months to generate excitement when he returns or 2. Cena turns heel.
Its like the WWE creative team watches these things and are like "Hmmm, wow we have a chance to really stir things up. We could even have Cena cost Orton the title to The Miz and set up an Orton-Cena feud that could actually headline WrestleMania and be fresh. Nah let's just go the obvious route and annoy people and have good ole' Super Cena be 'jus another fan' who happens to rush the ring and not go to jail for some reason."
Posted by: MechanicalBull | November 24, 2010 12:40 PM
If WWE really wants to turn Cena heel, they can use what happened over the weekend. After spending a couple months as part of Nexus, Cena had the opportunity to free himself but he did the "right thing" and called the Orton-Barrett match down the middle and handed Orton the belt, causing his termination.
He then made an emotional farewll speech and made the save for Orton. All that was for naught as the Miz then cashed in his Money in the Bank and took the title.
That can be the catalyst for Cena no longer wanting to do the "right thing."

I wonder will Raven join Cena at the WWE events? He could teach Cena the ropes after all sitting in the stands is a Raven specialty.
My guess is that Cena and Tommy Dreamer will become a "super" team and rid the WWE of Nexus and then go to TNA and rid them of Immortal and Fortune. Then they will have a three way match with Hogan in the infamous "Super-wrestler-who-can't-be-beat-by-anyone-or-group-of-people super pwer on a pole match" where the losers become ordinary everyday wrestlers again.
Posted by: The Nature Boy | November 24, 2010 2:37 PM
WWE is doing a great job with this. However, WWE still plans to use Cena at house shows as "John Cena's Mexican cousin Juan Cena". If you ask me, that's pretty lame.

If there were any remaining doubts that Cena's fan base was comprised entirely of little kids consider the number of comments from people on a blog that certainly operates under the "this is all scripted TV" avenue that seem to seriously believe that Wade Barrett and Nexus fired John Cena.

I can understand that the man needs a break, he has had a seriously heavy workload over the last year or so especially with Triple H getting injured earlier in the year. I did find the reactions by the crowd to his leaving and then to watch Orton have to drop the title match to Miz to be a pretty obvious statement to the WWE brass. Not too many happy fans in the stands as the show was going off the air. It's one thing to have an "upset" in your main event, but to do that on top of Cena's announcement seriously damaged their fan base. I personally can't wait to see Triple H & Cena back in the ring soon so I will have someone to pull for along with Orton.

Mechanical Bull, don't break kayfabe! It's still real to me, dammit! ;-) There's no way Vince McMahon will let his cash cow disappear off tv for an extended period of time. Even after his "send-off" on Monday, he'll be back next week. And the week after. And the week after that. Which is a shame as I think the main reason Orton's run as champ was so lukewarm was because the focus was all on Cena and not on the champ. Hopefully Orton chasing The Miz will bring a bit of focus to his character again.
Posted by: Barry | November 24, 2010 9:04 PM
If WWE really wanted to sell this storyline, then they need to keep Cena off of next week's episode.
Have Wade do the heel thing and tease the audience with a Cena appearance, but make sure that he doesn't actually do.
That will generate more heat for the storyline.
Posted by: Jack Windham | November 24, 2010 10:16 PM
On the info for next week in Philly on WWE.coms tix site they've got a fatal four way number 1 contenders match between orton Barrett sheamus and cena listed
Posted by: Cameron | November 24, 2010 10:38 PM
Wow, where did all these pre-teen marks come from?
Posted by: Jay | November 24, 2010 11:01 PM
I love how all the supposedly smart "marks" here in the comments apparently have never heard of internet trolls.
Do you really think that people who write like that are suddenly coming on this site to write about how much they "LOVE JON CENA AND I'M PART OF THE CENATION!"?
You're getting played.
Anyway, my two cents is that they should let Cena sit out for awhile. Instead, they seem poised to redo the angle they did for a week (maybe two) with Matt Hardy and Drew McIntyre where Hardy was in the audience.
If I was a WWE writer, I'd give Cena a month or two off, have John Morrison come out on top in his program against Sheamus, have The Miz and Alex Riley take out Orton and start a program between Morrison and Miz.
Cena comes back, turns heel against Morrison and they start a program against each other and Orton and Miz start a program against each other. Then again, I'm relegating Sheamus to the midcard and not accounting for Triple H.

The many different spellings of "Barrett" is absolutely fascinating.
Posted by: Pat Coyne | November 25, 2010 4:45 AM
I for one will not miss Cena one bit, and hope that he returns with a new persona. If there was a ever a guy who NEEDS a heel turn it's him, I am so BORED of Super-Cena! Staler than year old bread, the fact that only small children care about him says it all. There is nothing compelling, unique or remotely interesting about his character. He can wrestle, but then you need more than that in this day and age.
If he is genuinely coming back as "Juan Cena" and it's not some attempt at a wind-up, then it'll be the worst gimmick since Mr America, brother. A Cena heel turn would be fantastic, as the easiest way of getting heat is for a fan favourite to turn on the fans. Simple and something new in his otherwise repetitive WWE career so far.

The Nature Boy: "and then go to TNA..." (referring to John Cena and Tommy Dreamer.)
Are you out of your mind? I was with John Cena after Survivor Series and someone asked him if he would consider going to TNA. He was like, "HELL NO!" Don't be stupid. But anyway, John is really the heart and soul of the WWE. And this "turning heel" thing is ridiculous. It'll never happen. I bet Teddy Long will give him a contract for Smackdown. It's possible. And John said he would love that.

Just heard a radio ad for aDecember WWE event in Bowling Green, KY. At this event Cena will face Kane - so his exile sounds pretty short-lived. Also on the card, Miz vs Daniel Bryan for the U.S. Championship - so it doesn't sound like the awesome one will be holding onto the World Title for long.

I think Wade barret is going to win the wwe title from the miz go to wrestlemania against john cena. Cena will return at the royal rumble in a smack down uniform be hired on and again win it and choose barret as his competitor, cena will distroy barret too easily. Another senario i see is dave batista coming back and becoming good again taking the title away but that s far feched i like the fact that cena has a chance to show up big or wait even have Tripple H come back destroy shemus and win the wwe title again, orton will be out for a while looks like an acl tear but thats all hunch. Dont know what Mr Mcman will allow here but my first guess if he wants to make lots of money, he would allow cena to join smack down and compete in the royal rumble for the chance to go to wrestlemania and face i think barret for the wwe title. thank you
Posted by: Rod | November 27, 2010 4:56 AM
i had a pretty good idea that McMan should do for the John Cena scenario, Cena should stay away till the royal rumble and return but with a new angle show up with triple H Batista and Randy Ortan and form a new group to destroy the nexus for good.

I'm not that big of a fan of John Cena, he has his moments but at times is a terrible performer. He can't sell taking a beating as we will lay motionless and then suddenly be totally refreshed as if the match just started. He does not sell the beating he previoously took, I know all wrestlers fall guilty of this at times, but Cena is the worst.
Posted by: Surgeon2 | November 27, 2010 9:59 AM
In my views Cena must not be fired rather Mr General Manager would have been fired. bcoz was he not watching how barret won his match against Cena. Cena must has been given a rematch. WWE is incomplete without Cena.

I was behind Cena for a little while after his return from his spinal disk injury, but he got ridiculous. For that period he had to work his way back to the top, but then everything was just given to him again after a short while just as it is now. He always has the spotlight and other people should have that opportunity. Like Randy right now, he's been on fire! But is the focus on him? No, instead they sometimes put him midway in the show, while Cena isn't champion but remains in the main event. Not only that, but Crhis Jericho is on a hiatus, Batista's gone, and Triple H is on hiatus. Chris Jericho seemed like he was on the verge of a face turn a couple of times, which I believe would have been successful. If Batista and Triple H return, they could join with Randy to bring back Evolution. That would be pretty cool. Not only that, but considering that most of Cena's fanbase is children, that's what ties WWE to children, causing its low PG rating and therefore mostly un-entertaining ideas. So without John on Raw (or at least with him being a heel, turning away some fan interest from him) WWE or just Raw at least, could boost their rating up to PG-13, and return to the fun of the attitude era. And then that bad direction that the company is heading that caused Batista to leave would be erased and reversed. Either way, most of the fans in the WWE Universe are the ones who don't appreciate wrestling like we used to in the attitude era, or even those great days when Eddie Guerrero was still around. Even then we still had different characters in the spotlight. So I think Batista's final storyline had a point about Cena not working for anything on-screen. But the fact that they turned Batista heel in that angle was a terrible idea. And one more thing- someone above mentioned that a good route to go as a decision from the creative team would be that another John Cena-Randy Orton feud be put in place. In my eyes that wouldn't be so "fresh", as they've done it before. Not only that, but Randy and John are both fan favs, and when they pit them together now its difficult. One moment, they hate eachother, then the next week, they're hugging. Kinda awkward when they put faces against eachother, it affects their characters. Nevertherless, we know John will stay a part of WWE in one form or another. So let's "tone in" to RAW and get back in the same old SuperCena grind this coming RAW ladies and gents.

Wow, guys get a grip. McMahon will never let Cena go, as long as their is merchandise to shell out.
I love the comments. You guys are so hysterical.
Posted by: Jeff | November 29, 2010 11:04 AM
I LOVE CENA PLEASE COME BACK TO WWE
Posted by: emily | November 29, 2010 11:12 AM
Last night (11/28/10), the main event in Salisbury was a triple threat match. The Miz vs. Wade Barret vs. a masked wrestler named "Juan Cena". No attempt at hiding who he was. It was more amusing than insulting. I suspect we will see more of this "masked unknown".
Posted by: Mark A. Gabel | November 29, 2010 12:49 PM
I agree with Kevin's comments about poor attention to detail as a commercial for a house show at Madison Square garden was run here in NYC during RAW.
I for one would like to see a "Juan Cena" angle. I think Cena has the comedy chops to do it while driving Wade Barrett and Nexus crazy. I remember way back in the day when Hulk Hogan joined Andre the Giant and Blackjack Mulligan as the "Machines" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Machines_%28professional_wrestling%29
Posted by: Rodney | November 29, 2010 1:29 PM
please come back cena for taking revenge from barret and his team
Posted by: sam | November 30, 2010 9:45 AM
I really hope Cena isn't fired for good. Without him RAW will never be the same. He brough an excitment out that no other superstar (besides maybe Randy Orton) brings out in the fans. He is loved by many, and he deserves to be on RAW. Besides, I'm sure the WWE would lose a lot of revenue if Cena were to be fired for real.
Posted by: Kendall | November 30, 2010 12:05 PM
Lol.. Cena's firing has caused mass hysteria in India! Look at the comments!
Posted by: Vishal Nayak | December 1, 2010 7:59 AM
ok for one, the fact that you guys believe that the wwe is nothing without cena is wrong, for the mere fact that john cena is truly overrated, oh you cant see me... stone cold steve austin was worth staying, the rock was worth staying, did they stay? no!.. does cena have popularity that might slightly compare to them individually... no chance! whoever says that cena is the best is gone out of their heads.. will cena be back??? yes he will wwe is really predictable now... attittude era was the best time in the wwe... cena is not a man of his word... wwe has slowly lost publicity since 2002 did the wwe notice how much people got angry when cm punk brought the stone cold steve austin music just to get the fans hopes up and make a dumb point? people rose up when the music started and went crazy... theres no way in hell that cena has that type of publicity.. when stone cold steve austin came back to host raw in 3/15 ironically funny they chose that date cuz of his logos austin 3/16 it messed with it cuz raw is on monday and not on tuesday and tuesdays date is 3/16.. back to my point on the date that austin was host tickets were sold out, austin is the greatest not cena and since austin isnt there anymore the second best has always been the rock.. hes not there either.. next is triple h, hbk, undertaker, randy orton.... have they appeared lately? well i dont know about undertaker i dont watch smackdown but hbk is no longer wrestling.. hhh not there... randy orton??? the point is that wwe has not been a good show ever since the attittude era was over... okay ill give cena credit that he has publicity in women and in kids he really makes a show for kids and the women, so if cena cant find a job, he can become a clown or an assistant to one... who knows he might even make it as a waterboy to the vikings with the whole yellow and purple attire and uselessness tackle... he can also make it to being an assistant to barney and look cool next to him wearing purple and telling him you cant see me cuz barney really cant see anything outside the costume...cena is coming back... will kids be happy yes... will us adults be happy he has the scenario that they should have given austin and the rock??? No!!! one more thing that the wwe messed up on and something that they should have kept in mind... when sheamus won the king of the ring and sat down on the throne he says long live the king or all hail the king... at that moment triple hhh would have made the greatest entrance of all time by going in with the entrance of the king of kings and kicking the crap out of sheamus or even at least the game entrance so not to make it flashy.. just a thought...

I LOVE YOU AND WE MISS YOU JOHN CENA.THERE NOTHING LEFT IN WWE TO WATCH WITHOUT U.LOVE U FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: simran | December 4, 2010 11:07 AM
I don't think he ever left. this is a storyline to get people to buy his dvd. I do not think they will bring him back royal rumble they already did not that. They may bring HHH back during royal rumble but they may wait for john cena until Wrestle Maina from him to come back. John Cenas make wwe to much money to let him go anytime soon.

Posted by: Tenseny mutame | December 13, 2010 9:47 AM
Cena is the man. The centre of wwe and we wanna see him back on the ring. The whole universe hates barret and nexus. By the way who started this nexus group. It makes wrestling boring. it must be banned or nutralised then each man will stand for himself. Whoever brought the idea of nexus is not right.
Posted by: sengwe | December 16, 2010 8:06 AM
we miss you johncena. john cena cannot be fired just like that, we want him back

John Cena is the BEST and GREATEST wrestler of all time!!!!!! Cena is also the hottest man in the whole entire world and I've been a Cena fan since he started wrestling... Cena I don't care what anyone says I am your #1 fan.
HUSTLE
LOYALTY
RESPECT
Cena I love you, and what you stand for. I would love to be there when you wrestle just to be in your corner, and I am 100% part of the Chaingang. Without Cena wrestling is boring, he brings soooo much energy to the ring. I LOVE YOU CENA ALWAYS and FOREVER!!!!!!!!! All the wrestlers wish they were you but they ain't nothing. My favorite wrestlers are... Orton, The Hardy Boys, Undertaker, and HHH, but the all time best is JOHN CENA The Doctor of Thuganomics. Like for example one of my favorite songs by Cena is Don't F*** WIth Us. So don't f*** with Cena!!!!!!! In my eyes Cena is the Animal NOT Batista!!!!! Don't get me wrong Batista is a good wrestler but NOBODY can beat the (Prototype) John Cena. He is a living ICON. Cena I love your wrestilng, movies and rapping. Everything about you I LOVE, you have so much energy in everything you do. I look up to you soooooo much I LOVE YOU CENA AND THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting a tattoo that says (CENATION) and I will be officially representing The Best John Cena. I have so many pictures in my room I have shirts, action figures, belts, I have pretty much everything that you have come out with so far!!!!!! Cena "Never backs Down Never Quits" and "If You Want Some Come Get Some". CENA IS THE BEST and ALWAYS WILL BE NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!
sincerly, Cena's #1 Fan.
