What's next for injured CM Punk?

CM Punk has suffered a hip injury and reportedly will out of action for three months.

According to pwinsider.com, the WWE creative team was told that Punk will be unable to wrestle for three months because of the injury, but that they should come up with ideas for him to be on TV in a non-wrestling role.

The injury reportedly occurred during the seven-on-seven elimination match at the Bragging Rights pay-per-view on Oct. 24 when Punk took a bump on a DDT from Edge.

This is a tough break because Punk’s character has been reinvigorated since his recent move from Smackdown to Raw. Punk appeared to be on the verge of beginning a highly anticipated program with U.S. champion Daniel Bryan.

Punk has been entertaining when given opportunities to sit in on commentary as of late, so perhaps that would be a way to keep him on TV. Another thought would be to have him host a weekly interview segment on Raw.

I agree that keeping him on TV is a good idea. I like the idea of him on commentary. He's definitely got it down. I also like your idea of a weekly talking segment. Punk is gold on the mic but personally I want to see, or rather hear, him on commentary a lot more.

I'd love to see Punk added to the Raw announce team; a three-man bout like Smackdown and on PPV. His recent appearances on Raw and NXT (as well as his colour commentary for ROH in the past) were excellent.

He's far too talented a talker to waste on the sidelines and hopefully they'll find something for him if he is out for a while.

Building on his applause for Daniel Bryan's RAW match last week, Punk should become his manager to build anticipation for their eventual feud when Punk's healthy.

perhaps he could serve as a heel manager for some of guys who are not the best talkers

I had voiced my concern about Punk moving to Raw, but if the creative team has been instructed to keep him visible during his convalescence, then that is a good sign.

Well, I guess he's not going to be leading a faction, since we saw how well that worked. Perhaps he's the mystery GM?

You know what would have been a good role for him while he's injured? He could have been the mouth piece for the Straight Edge Society.

I am so glad that the Straight Edge Society storyline is hopefully dead. It became boring and predictable very quickly as those types of story-lines invariably do.
Doing commentary and interviews will let Punk keep his heel heat current and maybe build up a decent roster of "enemies" for him to face once he is healed.
