WWE Raw rating shows significant increase
John Cena in The Nexus equals ratings. Well, at least that was the case Monday night.
This week’s Raw – which featured Cena officially becoming a member of The Nexus – did a 3.3 rating, which isn’t spectacular, but it’s way up from the alarmingly low numbers the show posted the previous two episodes (Raw did a 2.7 last week and 2.8 the week before).
Time will tell if this is the start of a trend, but WWE certainly has to be pleased with the initial spark the Cena/Nexus story line has provided.

i thought monday night's raw was stupid, could be because i am john cena fan, but i am also tired of the nexus and unaniums GM, edge was least making it some what entertaining till got traded, just IMO but not sure how much I will be watching unless show gets better and not more stupid

Hey Kev, I'm wondering if you or someone else can explain to me why the wrestling community seems so interested in TV ratings. Is it like a carryover from the Monday night wars when fanboys used it to validate their love of a particular brand? I don't visit boards or blogs about shows like The Office, but I don't get the feeling that anyone discusses their favorite sitcom's ratings. So why are wrestling programs different?
Do people assume there's some sort of correlation between ratings and the quality of the show? I don't really see a correlation there. For example, you wrote that the show that garnered the 2.8 rating was "a hot episode" and that "everything clicked."
Please don't assume a negative tone here, I'm not trying to call you or anyone else out. Rather, I'm just curious why some are so interested in the ratings.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I think the main reason the wrestling community cares about ratings is because WWE and TNA seem to obsess over them.

3.3 is not bad Kev i think that the days of pro wrestling/sports entertainment getting 5.0 and 6.0 those days are over.

Also impressive considering that the MNF matchup was pretty good; even though the Pats won going away, I don't think they really opened up the scoring until Raw was over.
What's really interesting to me about this is that the WWE champion didn't even appear until the very last minute of the show. While Orton seems to be crazy over, there's no evidence yet that it's translated into tv ratings or PPV buy rates. I don't think the WWE can turn Cena fully heel until they are sure Orton can carry the show as a babyface.

It would be really interesting to see ratings in next few weeks. Personally for me, the quality of Monday night raw has improved a lot from past month or so, even though ratings don't suggest that.

If my predictions are correct, the numbers will slump again next week, due to what I previously predicted.

POTENTIAL SPOILER!
Heard a rumour that Cena merch. sales are poor, and they're doing this angle to build up support. They want to do a thing like when Virgil turned on Ted DiBiase The Elder. They hope it will get the whole crowd behind Cena.
Sounds quite clever. According to crowd reaction on Monday, seems to be working already.

Fans were just interested because they wanted see how Cena was going react joining the group i admit work out good for Raw but Cena turning heal is not going to happen I do see Morrison turning heal and MVP and i do think Swagger could turn face .
