Video: Ric Flair inspires Phillies manager Charlie Manuel

Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said in a news conference Thursday that he uses Ric Flair's catch phrases to motivate his team, which begins play in the National League Championship Series against the San Francisco Giants Saturday night.

Listening to Manuel, however, I'm not sure "conquering Space Mountain" means the same thing to him that it does to "The Nature Boy."

Here is a video clip about the Flair/Manuel connection from the Fox affiliate in Philadelphia.

Manuel's apparently a big wrestling fan, and counts Jerry Lawler as a close friend. Just one more reason to root for the Phillies!

I hope that doesn't mean Charlie thinks that he can go out and play in the playoffs.just because Flair is still wrestling.

I look forward to seeing Charlie blade himself at some point in the NLCS.

Space Mountain might have a different meaning for Charlie Manuel but whatever the meaning it's worked well for the Phillies.

If the Phillies win the NLCS against the Giants, the Phils become the first NL team to win three consecutive league pennants since the 1942-1944 St. Louis Cardinals.

Someone at Fox's graphic department should have used spell check.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Yes.
