Connecticut secretary of state reverses decision on WWE apparel
WWE issued the following news release, which the company sent out under the headline: “WWE makes Ct. secretary of state back down.”
“The moment Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz issued an un-American, unconstitutional and discriminatory directive prohibiting voters from wearing WWE merchandise at the polls, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal should have immediately stepped in to enforce the law. As a result of the Attorney General’s inaction, I brought suit to enforce these basic, fundamental constitutional rights. Within hours of filing the lawsuit, Blumenthal recused himself, and Bysiewicz reversed her position and immediately notified all Local Registrar of Voters and Town Clerks via email. I am pleased that Connecticut voters have had their freedom of expression and their right to vote restored,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, World Wrestling Entertainment.
For those who do not know, Blumenthal is the Democrat opposing Republican Linda McMahon in the Connecticut Senate race.

I don't always agree with VKM, but I have to give him props for sticking up for the American Constitution. I wish Obama was more like VKM. Way to go Vince!!

Strangely, I like that victory by WWE/Vince/Linda.

Kev you are the man. Before finding your blog 7 or 8 months ago I would go to random sites to get wrestling dirt. Now you are my one stop shop for all things wrestling and I mean all things. Just take this post for instance its great to not only get weekly show and ppv updates but great tid bits like this. Love your blog Im definatly hooked. If the election is to close to call and Ct. needs a runoff vote between the 2 divas lets have it in a hell in a cell, and yes I'm calling Blumenthal a Diva. You know what they say anything can happen in the WWE. Theirs probably a better chance of this match taking place than Undertaker Lesner for 20-0 but we can dream cant we.

I guess I am seeing it differently. If I was Linda's Democratic opponent, I would want as many people milling around polling places in WWE gear. Since a recent poll found that something like a third of voters go to the ballot box undecided, I think having Cena's "Ruck Fules" shirt could change a few minds. When I heard about the decision, I thought it would be seen as being in Linda's favor.
That the WWE has been brought into the election at all is stupid. There are plenty of things for Linda's opponent to criticize before having to go with her association with the WWE.
I just want wrestling and politics to stay in their separate corners and play with their own toys.

There is a very interesting asterisk to this story:

Look in the bottom-left corner.
Basically? It's a poll of 200+ K people that determined, among other things, that wrestling fans tend overwhelmingly to be Democrats rather than Republicans.

Vince is a deeply bitter, twisted old man and has always come out sounding overly defensive and small when backed into a corner. Linda is only running so she can get tax breaks for the WWE and help her crown jewel make even more $$. Really wish there was a decent second national wrestling company, because it is almost impossible to support these pompous, delusional fools. Still beats Hogan, Bischoff, and Russo though!

Blumenthal also lied about being a Vietnam vet, which would earn him a Wam Bam Bodyslam from Jesse "The Body" Ventura.

I predict a swerve after Linda's opponent wins the election... and then at his swearing-in announces he's actually handing the office over to Linda... cue DiBiase laugh...
"Blumenthal screwed Blumenthal!"

You will still be prosecuted for using WWE catch phrases at the polling place though.
Under no circumstances shout out "What?" or "Really?" while voting. It shows a lack of respect for the politicians.

I think it's all a swerve in that Linda announces she's the mystery Raw GM during her concession speech.
