TNA Impact: ‘They’ are not Fourtune
Ric Flair said last week on TNA Impact that Fourtune was Abyss’ “they,” but Abyss refuted Flair’s claim on Thursday night’s show.
So we still don’t know who “they” are, but we now at least know the date that “they” will reveal themselves: Oct. 10, at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.
Abyss said “they” will remove TNA president Dixie Carter and proceed to “exterminate” Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff and TNA’s top babyfaces.
My guess is that Abyss’ threats directed at Hogan and Bischoff are a swerve and that Hogan, Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett are “they.” Abyss taking orders from Hogan would make sense since he was a loyal Hulkamaniac before his sudden heel turn.
If that scenario proves true, then Sting and Kevin Nash will say that the two of them tried to warn everyone about Hogan, Bischoff and Jarrett, but no one would listen. I hope it goes down that way if only for the fact that we would finally know what the heck Sting has been talking about since March.
Other thoughts on Thursday’s show:
The main event, a tag team match in which “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero and Mr. Anderson defeated Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy, was disappointingly short, as it only went about five minutes. Predictably, both sets of partners ended up fighting each other. …
Angle’s retirement stipulation takes away a lot of the interest in his match against Hardy in the semifinals of the TNA world title tournament at the No Surrender pay-per-view Sunday. I’d be shocked if the final match of the tournament isn’t Angle versus Anderson. …
The booking of Tommy Dreamer as a super babyface in the eight-man elimination tag team match between Fourtune and EV 2.0 was beyond absurd. After Dreamer was left by himself to face A.J. Styles and Beer Money, he managed to pin Robert Roode and then James Storm before nearly beating Styles, too. Thanks to Matt Morgan’s interference, Styles was able to pull out the victory. If that would have been someone such as Angle, Hardy or Anderson in the Superman role, I would have bought it, but not Dreamer. That was almost as bad as the time Shane McMahon nearly beat Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes singlehandedly. …
It was interesting that Styles handled the mic work for Fourtune instead of Flair during the verbal exchange with Dreamer. It’s taken some time but Styles has found his voice as a heel and no longer comes off like “Little Naitch.” Now if only he would stop wearing that feathered robe to the ring. …
I have thought for years that Stevie Richards was underrated, but with that being said, I don’t understand the decision to have him pin Abyss, who is supposed to be an unstoppable monster. …
The worst-kept secret in pro wrestling was finally revealed, as Madison Rayne’s bodyguard was unmasked as Tara. …
I like the pairing of Desmond Wolfe and Magnus, but London Brawling is a horrible name for their tag team. …
Magnus’ new persona seems to be a work in progress, but he has the potential to be a major star. By the way, I still don’t understand why Chelsea remains with Wolfe when she clearly can’t stand him. …
I don’t believe that every wrestler needs to be all bulked up, but Brian Kendrick looks like he weighs about 120 pounds. …
One thought on TNA Reaction: The segment with Jesse Neal talking about the bombing of the USS Cole in 2002 that took the lives of his shipmates (including his best friend) was pretty compelling. I’m looking forward to Part 2 of the piece.

Is "London Brawling" really much worse of a name than "Ink Inc" or "Beer Money"?
RESPONSE FROM KE: No, they all pretty much suck.

Your review of the show was right on, as far as I'm concerned, Kevin. I agree that Wolfe and Magnus could be a great tag team together. The whole exchange between them and the MCMG was lame, though, especially Chelsea's comment about Wolfe's "short-comings?" Anyway, a MCMG - London Brawling feud could be good, but it will be tough to top the Beer Money - MCMG matches.

It was average show this week. Maybe just my imagination but this was the best pacing I've felt from Impact in a long time, it was slower and didn't feel like they were trying to hit 10 home runs in 2 hours, they just put a calm realistic show of Impact like they know there will be hundreds more, sometimes I get the feeling they cram it all up like they think they might go out of business tomorrow if the show isn't amazing.
Dixie Carter, again teasing ground breaking news on a live show on October 7th, her teases are getting annoying in my view.
And then there's "THEY". Man it's anyone's guess. TNA has already brought back WCW and ECW. I sense Hogan going heel also, I first felt weird when Hogan and Bischoff ganged up on Dixie Carter pretty much forcing her to suspend Sting, they came off kinda heel like to me that day.
This won't happen and it's kind of random but my dream "THEY" would be this:
(Paul Heyman and Daffney joined by Abyss. That's right Paul Heyman is here to clean up TNA and cleanse all his washed up ex ECW guys and take TNA in an all new direction starting with the only hardcore wrestlers in TNA that are truely hardcore in my opinion. Daffney is the only female in TNA, I've seen take the barbed wire and Thumb tacks (and even 300lb women landing on her) and she's total eye candy in a monster way. And Abyss... well we've seen the punishment he can take. So Paul Heyman, starts off with the two under appreciated monsters of TNA to show people what real hardcore wrestling is and eventually threatens to take Dixie Carter out of business.)
That would be my storyline.

I'm a little confused as to why "Motor City Machine Guns" is abbreviated as "MMG" on t-shirts. Is Motor City supposed to be one word? I know it is a bit off point, but it bothers the heck outta me!

The program between BMI & MCMG was classic.
The one between MCMG & London Brawling has some potential. Magnus is inferior in the ring to both Roode & Storm. However, we all know that Wolfe can really go in the ring. If they keep him in the match for much of it, it can work.

maybe "they" will shut down the entire company, and replace it with a blank screen.....that's more entertaining than TNA

I have to agree with Ryan, it's better than the other two. Ink, Inc. is without a doubt the worst name I've ever heard, and Beer Money...that isn't even a name, as far as I'm concerned. At least with London Brawling you get a Clash reference.

The "They" has to be led by Heyman. The only question is who's with him - other than Abyss. Could it be Joey Styles? Is he contractually available? Joey did get quite a bit of mentions during TNA's ECW reunion PPV - more than AJ did.

Does WWE have episode titles for their shows like TNA does? I realize wrestling is scripted but I think it comes off as even more "fake" with those episode names. It comes off as more of a television show than a sporting event.

I thought London Brawling was a pretty cool name, its a play on "London Calling" a famous song by the clash, it may not be amazing but its a lot better than heavenly demons or whatever Hardy/Moore call themselves lol

Maybe Wolfe and Desmond should call themselves The Clash...of the Champions.
I'm sorry.

I couldn't get over the horrible commercial placements...especially with a taped show.

I kinda have to agree, London Brawling--while it may not be the best damn name--is loads better than Ink Inc. which is just lame...and yeah I wondered the same thing MMG? To me that says Motor Machine Guns...unless of course it's meant to be Motorcity Machine Guns...but as far as I've been able to tell...it isn't so it bugs me too...Another thing though, that I do admire about TNA vs WWE is that...they DO actually basically name ALL of their tag teams...example the first week that we saw Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal team up...(like where Jesse helped Shannon or was it the other way around) point being..the following week, suddenly they were a team...with a name...where was WWE just randomly makes certain superstars pair up (best example being Miz and Morrison) suddenly they were a legit team--but without a catchy name! I mean what is that? Was it seriously just because they had nothing clever to come out of this? I dunno...and one other example (the short lived--I would say) teams of MVP/Henry and R-Truth/Morrison...
Lastly I agree with the theory of the "they" being hogan/bischoff...I mean I kinda liked the heel Bischoff--especially from his WWE stint--but more importantly, his random switch over to being face again? I didn't see the point of it happening the way it did....and it was soo soon after his heel run began...it was a really short lived heel run...and is it just me...or doesn't bischoff look better with the shaved head? If not just for the simple fact that he is gray all over...

Did the person that came up with the spelling of 'Fourtune' happen to go to a Big 10 conference school?

"That was almost as bad as the time Shane McMahon nearly beat Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes singlehandedly."
I honestly cannot see anything surpassing that. Ever.
