Are Matt Hardy’s days in WWE numbered?

At this point, it almost seems as if the question is when, not if, Matt Hardy will be future-endeavored by WWE.

I’m assuming that most everyone is familiar with the Hardy saga that has been playing out on pro wrestling websites and Twitter the past several days, but for those who are not, here’s a brief synopsis:

It was initially reported by pwinsider.com that Hardy had been sent home from WWE’s European tour this past Sunday because of “concerns about Hardy’s condition that manifested themselves backstage at an event on the tour.”

Hardy responded to the story by posting a video on YouTube from his hotel room in England. By showing that he was still there, Hardy said it proved that the report that he was “sent home” was inaccurate. It turned out that Hardy was playing a game of semantics, as WWE later confirmed to Newsday that Hardy had indeed been sent away from the arena.

There also was an incident involving Hardy at a house show last week in White Plains, N.Y., as Hardy reportedly left the arena before his scheduled match and did not return after WWE officials had expressed their concern to him about his condition.

After reading some of Hardy’s comments on Twitter the past few days, he seems resigned to the fact that his WWE career is coming to a close.

On Tuesday, he wrote:

“Here’s a quick hello to all my people & a reassurance to everyone that I'm fine, healthy, & in good spirits. Thx for all of your support. When the time is right, I'll put everything out there as far as what ‘really’ went down. I know I have to protect me & my brand, & I will. I appreciate my fans so much that I'll always be honest with them, & the whole story certainly isn’t out there now. I appreciate all of the things the WWE has done 4 me in the past, they have been gracious to me-but now, it’s decision time for me. Thx all.”

My guess is that a Hardy Boyz reunion in TNA is imminent.

I don’t know what is really going on with Hardy, but I did find his YouTube video to be disturbing. You can watch it by clicking here and judge for yourself.

For Hardy’s sake, if he does have any problems that need to be addressed, I hope that he takes care of them.

I have to wonder if the two major WWE stories of the week, Hardy being sent home due to his "condition" and WWE's new ban on soma, aren't intimately related.

I've been waiting for this day to come for a long long time. Please go to TNA!!!!! I don't watch TNA so it's a win win in my books. Maybe he'll have time to come up with a new look, so he's been in a time warp with his wwe hair and pants.

Rip matt hardy lol

I am surprised that you didn't mention his thinly-veiled reference to CM Punk, Kevin.

Could this be part of an elaborate angle?

RESPONSE FROM KE: Anything is possible. It almost seems as if Hardy could be working his own angle.

I wish for the best of u Matt Hardy. I still support 4 life and you're the reason u inspired to be a pro wrestler. u have a bright future man, v11111111!

What are the chances that this is an elaborate work - like the one we saw with Daniel Bryan? I mean, it's no secret that Matt Hardy has a lot of fans but is poorly used.

If this is not a work, WWE should definetely do stories like these - getting something passed off as real. I think the first time they pulled it off was the Shawn Micheals concussion story when he collapsed in the ring. Heck, I thought that was real... (but I was about 14 at the time) And a lot of people thought the Montreal Screwjob was a work. (Hey, maybe it was the biggest of all time?)

Anyway, realism is awesome in wrestling. Daniel Bryan pulled it off wonderfully. Stories of that nature should be more widely used. Your opinion Kevin?

Matt hasn't been useful since he and MVP fueded a while back. If/when he goes to TNA, he still won't be any good......

I don't understand this. Matt Hardy is a really popular wrestler in WWE, how can he be so unhappy? Not everyone can be champ

Well im kinda glad that matt may be joining TNA and the hardys have a good run together. But in regards to the video Matt seems to be suffering from sleep deprivation. the video shows he is upset and seems to be being kept awake by caffine.

WWE is near the end the UnderTaker has a few matches left who knows when HHH will be back HBK retired and i think John Cena is Hollywood bound like the Rock was .

"....i think John Cena is Hollywood bound like the Rock was ."

I don't see that happening until he has a movie that's well-received. Rocky didn't make movies his #1 priority until after the success of The Scorpion King IIRC.

I don't see Hardy's appeal. He's not exciting in the ring and his promos are not entertaining.

Hardy has put his body on the line to entertain us for years. People should show a little gratitude for that and wish him the best whatever that may be rather than beat on him when he is perceived as down. That's not cool!

While I agree that some of Matts comments on Twitter arent doing anything good for his career and will probably lead to his release, some of the false rumors about his supposed drug use need to stop. Matt is not, i repeat NOT on drugs. If he was, why didn't he fail any of the WWE's drug tests. If they'll test John Cena, Triple H, and Chris Jericho, then why wouldnt they test Matt? Matt is simply upset that he hasn't gotten a world title push, despite being in the company for over 12 years. As for his cryptic youtube videos, Matt appears tiered because he's on the road too much. you would be tired to if you were on the road as much as a WWE wrestler. I will always be a supporter of Matt Hardy and I think its a HUGE mistake that WWE never gave him a world title (ECW dosn't count). I hope that he gets everything settled with Mr. McMahon and he gives him the push he has earned.

His best days are long past him and he's been coasting by these past few months with minimal effort on his part. I wish him well on his future endeavors.

A TNA run is pretty much guaranteed, though I hope no one is expecting for his presence to turn that ship around. If his brother couldn't do it, then he sure as hell won't.

I used to be a Matt Hardy fan, but all this rants on the internet have made me want him to go away. Its like if you say something negative about Hardy, he wants to come over and fight you, who does he think he is Jay and Silent Bob.

Matt hasn't had a world title run because he simply isn't world title material.

Granted neither was Sheamus...

Matt isn’t world title material anymore, and some of that can be blamed on the WWE.

If he had come off his ECW Title win and been entered into the World Title hunt, it would have worked. When he returned and feuded with Edge, he would have worked.

Now, I don’t know if much of the audience would buy him as a world title contender.

Same goes for Christian. I'm a big fan of both, but WWE seems to be happy to keep them as top mid card forever.

I just want to interject my thoughts.

Just because someone has been with the company for a long time doesn't mean that they deserve a title push.

Matt hardy just is NOT a champion. He is not made of the stuff champions are. His pity run was with the ECW title. That's the same as the run that Dreamer had with it. A pity run. Kinda like a "thank you" run

Matt should be grateful that he still has a job, as he's noticeably under-par these days.

"Matt hasn't had a world title run because he simply isn't world title material.

Granted neither was Sheamus..."

Sheamus is great on a mic, has in ring skills, and a unique look. Matt at this point has mid card level skills, and his look is no longer unique, and quite frankly, his promo skills are very lacking. His career has been what it should have been. Great tag team champion material, good mid card level champion, but he was not going to be World champion at any point.

I feel bad for the guy because he really does love the business. However Matt Hardy's has not evolved since his first Hardy Boyz run years ago. All of the biggest names that have been around as long as he has have changed their looks and character many times over. He is stale and although popular on twitter and youtube, his appearance looks like someone that was pulled out of the crowd. I think he has been loyal to the WWE because he wants a World Title but he will never get one if he looks like a out of shape greasy burger flipper at the concession stand. If he was on drugs I hope he gets help but WWE is trying to distance themselves from that as much as possible. The WWE would much rather have a Hardy Boyz reunion in TNA than have Matt stay and get arrested like Jeff did after he left WWE.

I may be in the minority, but I really enjoyed Matt's matches back when he was in shape. I literally came out of my chair when he wrestled Kennedy on Smackdown, a few years ago. Without doubt, his promos are not very good, and that must be the biggest reason why WWE has never given him a top spot. Nevertheless, he was over to a very large degree for someone who didn't speak well, so maybe he would have a larger role now if he were still in top form.

If you think Matt Hardy is not on drugs after watching that video of him, well I guess you don't know what somebody looks like when they are high.

Another good reference would be the glassy eyed Chad Johnson who was the guest host of Raw last week. Yeah, I know he has a different last name, but I refuse to use it.

I can hardly talk, but Matt looks really sluggish recently. He seemed to get really gassed during the match with Del Rio last week. He looks quite ill.
Does his "condition" refer to possible drug use?

A lot of people seem to be saying that because Matt Hardy's promo skills were iffy at best he wasn't championship material. Granted Jeff was always more of a high flier and the more obvious risk taker but he was terrible on a mic.

Even during his feud with Randy Orton I remember Jeff proclaiming "I don't want your respect, I want to hurt you" or something like that. However, the delivery was so pathetic I almost laughed.

As for looks, Jeff added some psychadelic makeup, otherwise he looks much the way I remember the Hardy Boyz when they were new.

Meanwhile Jeff got multiple title pushes while Matt kinda went nowhere.

Then again it seems like a lot of great wrestlers these days are going nowhere, functioning almost like jobbers (cough Chris Jericho cough) while other less entertaining wrestlers are earning 7, 8, 10 world championships.

Randy Orton has the charisma of a sandwich and he's once again world champion somehow. What's he got? The fact that he punts people in the head? At least Cena has some presence even if he's dumbed down his move set to get ahead.

There are plenty of people who 'deserve' a world championship but will never get it and there are plenty who don't and keep getting it.

I think it is terrable how everyone is just buring Matt here. it has always seem to me that everytime Jeff leaves the WWE his brother is punished just think they were in a main event feud then when Jeff left so was Matt's push. I don't see why they don't just let him go to TNA look at all the people that have left WWE to go to TNA or have been released and TNA did not pick them up and they are still no closer as the #2 company. I miss the days of the territories because Matt maybe has gotten stale but he has reached his ceiling so it is time for him to move on. Hoping for a MCMG vs the Hary's

I think its possible for Matt Hardy to be on drugs. When in career with so much presure and high hopes you find you need things other than family and fans to keep you from going crazy over the difficult schedule and being away from home so much. So if Matt Hardy is doing drugs you cant say anything because you're not walking in his shoes. Just give it a rest and let him find his own way of coming back to his normal self.
