Thoughts on Samoa Joe’s suspension
I’m sure by now most of you have heard the news about TNA suspending Samoa Joe for disciplinary reasons. According to various Internet reports, Joe felt as though the finish to his match with Jeff Hardy on the July 22 episode of Impact was telegraphed (it ended in a time-limit draw), and he voiced his displeasure about it in the production truck after the match. It is believed that he will be suspended for about a month.
Of course I don’t know exactly how heated the situation got, but my initial impression is that a one-month suspension for an outburst over creative differences is a bit harsh, especially for one of the company’s top guys. It makes me wonder if there have been other instances of Joe having attitude issues and management feeling as if it had to take a stand.
If Joe acted unprofessionally (apparently entering the production truck to complain was a breach of etiquette), I won’t defend his behavior, but I will say this: Based on how poorly his character has been booked at times during the past couple years, I could certainly understand how he would be frustrated (although he has been booked much better as of late).
On a side note, I wonder what the odds are that TNA will make a story line out of this when Joe returns to TV.

I'm very disappointed. Joe is possibly my favorite active wrestler and its been great seeing TNA finally let him get back to what he does best lately: no-nonsense badassery (it's better that they never followed up on that pointless abduction angle). I hope this doesn't derail the Joe-Angle matchup which seemed inevitable and possibly could have been a big draw if it was for the #1 contender ranking on PPV. Good point, Kev, about the possibility of TNA letting Joe do a sort of worked shoot about it when he gets back.

I doubt TNA will have time to make a storyline out of this. In a month's time, they'll be knee-deep in their UWF reunion angle. Dixie Carter is teasing an Iceman Parsons appearance on Twitter!

Do you remember back in 2008 when they used Samoa Joe's frustrations with management as a storyline which was on his path to winning the world title? Makes me wonder whether they do the same here. I'm not suprised that Joe and Styles (if you read a recent interview) are frustrated with TNA as they are in essence the face of TNA but not treated as such. They should be viewed as the Cena/HHH/Undertaker of TNA; loyal guys who are loyal and thus treated as the big boys of WWE. I think with Joe and Styles, which AJ touched on in his interview is the lack of consistency with their characters with illogical turns and stupid angles.
It's odd that Dixie and Jarrett have already forgotten the fantastic main events that Daniels, Joe and Styles were having earlier this year - eons better than some of the rubbish that Sting, Nash, Jarrett and the other so-called 'stars' have been trying to pull off. And why put the 'old stars' into main-events - put them into upper card matches - let them bring in attention but let the TNA brand wrestlers be the main-eventers.
Sorry about the rant but I see TNA's roster and it's a disgrace how poorly it is used. It's pathetic how they treat two of their biggest asset in Styles and Joe.

Amen, Kevin !
Samoa Joe should be in a program with Rob Van Dam with the Title at stake... instead, TNA puts him aside again. No plans for one of the greatest products made in TNA, if I were him I too would be a little bit "upset".
After losing the excellent Christopher Daniels, TNA engaged itself on a way that could lead to the departure of Samoa Joe...

Maybe he will be kidnapped again by an unknown group.

I have an idea how they could write off Samoa Joe for the next month: They should have a bunch of ninjas in a van kidnap Joe from the iMPACT! Zone---
Wait a minute, they already did that. Maybe this time the ninjas can hold him hostage on a roller coaster. Then, we get to see Hulk Hogan try to save Joe in a real-life "3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain" showdown live on Pay-Per-View.

Eck - I don't watch TNA on a regular basis, but was the time limit draw not part of the scripted match? Is that why Joe is upset?
Thanks.
RESPONSE FROM KE: The ring announcer was counting down how much time was left toward the end, which is what upset Joe because he thought it gave away that the match was going to be a draw.

I'd say it's more then a bit excessive. Frankly, I wonder if the "new regime" has little use for Joe, so they are trying to make him unhappy. I doubt if, say, Ken Anderson did the same thing he'd be sidelined for a month.

If TNA was smart, which with Vince R. running the show I wouldn't count on, this would be the center for Joe's return. Have him come back and be all sorry and such but behind the scenes have vid clips of a masked man just going wild and attacking wrestlers, staff and such and so on. This could be huge, they could really make this a good story line.

But did he choke anybody?

Who even does time limit draws these days?

Joe Samoa: the season 3 NXT winner!
Hell, that has to be sounding better than whatever future plans TNA has in store for the guy.

When Joe returns, maybe he will feud with the evil booker who forced him to wrestle to a mere draw in the first place: Nivce Oruss (that's Vince Russo rearranged).

I don't understand Joe's problem. Yes, the countdown is a bit of a telegraph. But it's hardly the first time in professional wrestling that has been done—and more to the point, even *having* a time limit telegraphs the finish in a company that doesn't usually have them. (WCW used to always have time limits.)
In other words: He's right but it seems a bit of an overreaction, and after the fact.

My best case scenario; Joe leaves TNA and goes back to ROH. Brian Danielson who doesn't have a full time gig at the moment does the same. Desmond Wolfe gets sick of the way hes being booked in TNA also follows. Kaval (assuming WWE doesn't have any big plans for him, which Im sure they don't) gets sick of wearing a pink sweater every week and joins them. Paul London, Homicide and maybe Brian Kendrick, who after he's done with his feud with Doug Williams will be an after thought in TNA, also decide to come back to where Christopher Daniels already is and you got yourself a hell of a roster.Couple that with the guys ROH already has they could possible get a better cable deal and they in turn could become competion for TNA.
ROH at its best will only ever be a niche promotion but then again so is TNA, but so was the old ECW and it was still considered 1 of the big 3 at the hight of the Monday Night Wars.Cause let's face it no one is ever gonna be competion for Vince again unless he goes bankrupt. So the best we could hope for is there to be good competion for #2.
Side note: I really wanted to include C.M Punk and AJ Styles in that list but I don't feel Punk is going anywhere, hes got a pretty good thing going in WWE. As far as AJ, well I don't know. I think he's to loyal to go anywhere else. Besides if he ever does have a falling out with TNA I think Vince would snatch him up.

Pretty sure that they didn't suspend him for an entire month based on one incident. It must have been something that's been building up for weeks (or even months).

If Joe ends up leaving TNA then the few reasons to tune in everyweek get even fewer, I started watching TNA about two years ago and since then have gone back over everything they did before. Have to say I was utterly underwhelmed when the 'HUGE' announcement was Hogan joining, and since then I tend to fast forward his spots - record it on PVR - for the money they are paying for the 'big boys' they could ditch their entire creative arm and hire Paul Heyman (who said he MGHT interested for the right money) imagine what he'd be able to achieve with the likes of AJ / Joe / Wolfe - for starters I'm sure he'd bring back Daniels
