Smackdown: Rey Mysterio accuses Kane of attacking The Undertaker
In the climax to Friday night’s Smackdown, Rey Mysterio finally said what I and a lot of other wrestling fans have been thinking for a couple months now: “It was you, Kane!”
Mysterio, who was accused by Kane of being The Undertaker’s attacker on last week’s show, said that he knows it was actually Kane who was responsible for taking out his own brother. Kane’s twisted mind seemed to have a hard time processing this, as he fell to his knees and began murmuring, “I love my brother.”
I don’t think there is any chance of this happening, but it would be tremendous if WWE pulls a huge swerve and it is revealed that the culprit really is Mysterio. Or possibly someone else. Just anyone but Kane.
Other thoughts on Friday’s show:
I was thrilled to see Dolph Ziggler finally win some gold, as he defeated Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental title. However, I thought the finish was a bit anti-climactic. …
To say that Kingston got his heat back after the match would be an understatement, as he totally destroyed Ziggler. Kingston’s sudden aggressive streak just might be what his character needs to get to the next level. …
It was odd not seeing Jack Swagger on the show this week. I hope he didn’t go down for the count in the Gulf of Mexico. …
It was nice to get a fresh match-up – both in the ring and on the mic – as Mysterio and Drew McIntyre opened the show with a verbal exchange and concluded it with a physical one. I thought their talking was segment was just OK, but their match – which Mysterio won – was solid. …
The co-women’s champions shtick with Lay-Cool has officially jumped the shark. This was the night that Smackdown general manager Teddy Long was supposed to put and end to the foolishness, but Layla and Michelle McCool appear to have out-smarted him. After McCool turned over her title belt to Long, she engaged in a tug-of-war with Layla over the other belt, which broke into two pieces ala Lay-Cool’s BFF necklaces. So now instead of McCool and Layla each having their own belt, they have two halves of one belt. Come on, Teddy. Do your job! …
I really liked CM Punk’s promo in which he berated his Straight Edge Society disciples for being happy. Ordering them to get down on their knees and saying, “I don’t remember telling any of you that you could be happy … happiness is weakness,” was classic. …
Is MVP back in the doghouse? It’s one thing to be constantly stuck in the mid-card, but this is ridiculous. Not only was MVP teamed up with low-level guys such as JTG and Chris Masters in a six-man tag match against the SES, but he was the one who did the job. My hope is that this latest burial of MVP leads to a heel turn and a push, but I’m certainly not counting on it. …
The Cody Rhodes-Matt Hardy match was decent. It was a mild surprise to see Rhodes get the clean victory. …
I’m warming up to Rhodes’ “dashing” gimmick. Not only do I find him entertaining, but I’m picking up some valuable grooming tips.

Comments
Everyone cant get a push...there has to be mid card guys and MVP fits the role. When he first went to RAW a couple years ago he got a push and didn't perform at a high enough level. He was given the same opportunity as the MIZ has gotten the past few months, but the MIZ is taking advantage.

Actually, since this storyline with the vegetative state Undertaker began, I have been hoping it would Rey is the culprit here.
- It was Rey who injured the Undertaker that started this whole storyline.
- It was Rey who snuck into the Fatal Four Way PPV by qualifying after the Undertaker was out of action.
- It was Rey who went on to win the Fatal Four Way to become champion.
To me, Rey is guilty.

I think MVP can be much more than a mid-card role. He showed it when he first came in to WWE and had huge heel heat. I definitely think his character works better as a heel.
Maybe do a promo like the one Edge did about how "listening to you fans got me nowhere so I'm just going to listen to myself" - he'd have some work to do to freshen that up a bit, but he definitely has the mic skills to pull it off.

When is Beth Phoenix coming back? The Women's Championship situation is stuck in neutral and she seems like the one who can really get the ball rolling again.

I've gotta be honest, I think that MVP is probably gonna have a pretty similar career to Matt Hardy and Christian. I think it would have to take a massive swathe of injuries at the top of the card for him to ever stand the chance of getting a push. I was a little surprised to see a Swagger-less show too, but I'm trying not to read too much in to it.

McIntyre was one of the highlights at the last house show I attended, and Smackdown is using him right.
He's great as the vicious heel who I want to see a crowd favorite like Rey or Christian battle and overcome. He comes off as a credible threat, he's mean, he's sinister, he's unlikeable.
Most heels are either so cool I want 'em to win (like Punk or Jericho) or so lame I want 'em off my screen. It's so refreshing to be able to root against the baddie like I'm supposed to.

So Kofi has gone postal two weeks in a row. Although the fans are digging it because he's taking it to Dolph Ziggler methinks this is the start of a heel turn. I see Kofi being booked into a tag match with someone like Mysterio and turning on him viciously.
Cody Rhodes can be described as many things. Dashing is not one of them. He's not pulling it off with the look he has right now. If he were to grow out his hair and dye it blond then perhaps. Then his moniker should be changed from "dashing" to either "charming" or "classy" (a la Freddie Blassie). Dashing Cody Rhodes does not roll off the tongue.

It would be pretty cool if the WWE used Swagger's apparent drowning to write off his character. Maybe he'll take a few weeks off and show up with a life jacket on or something.
MVP was dead to me when he started doing that !@#$ Ballin' elbow. He's become the new Scottie 2 Hottie: just do your idiotic signature move and get the hell out of the ring.

Has Mysterio ever been a heel? Because I would love to see that. It would be akin to Hogan's nWo turn if only from the "he's always been a face" level.
RESPONSE FROM KE: He was a heel at one point in WCW, but never in WWE.

It wasn't Kane nor Mysterio that did it, Kevin. The WWE is putting on a major swerve here. I know for a fact that it was none other than that Peter Schmuck! I can here good old JR now. "What the hell! That dirty son of a B*@ch! It was Schmuck. It was Schmuck! What the Schmuck!?!"

I'm really dissappointed in the Kane storyline. It is so bad, that Rey should immediatly win title back at Summerslam. Cody is getting a nice push. its so cheesy, i cant wait for the next grooming tip. Punk holds the show well, even injured. And i actually like his look now. I was certain the Teddy would make Lay-Cool wrestle each other. in due time im sure. As for Alberto Del Rio...I'm sure he joins Nexus. he has wrestled all of the Nexus in the FWA. I just want him to get his butt kicked already. Diva Daughter has suggested, we see the sledge hammer return at slam. I'm missing Triple! and Kev, you absolutly rock!!

Never thought Cody Rhodes could be funny. I to am hoping for a MVP heel turn. I liked him so much better when he was a heel b4.
Like you...anybody but Kane attacking the Undertaker.
I love Kofi's new aggression.
Is there anything that Teddy Long can do about Vicki Guerrerro's constant interfering. Must pay to be a consultant
Maybe Jack Swagger will come back stating how he clead up the Gulf Of Mexico's oil spill.

Kane has developed split personalities, so he doesn't remember attacking Undertaker.
We may see Good Kane versus Evil Kane in the near future.

It appears that the whole fiasco with the Undertaker is another saga in his career. All I want to see is the Hell brake loose WHEN he returns, hopefully in a tag-team with Kane. However as we are all aware, Undertaker has been the name-maker for so many newcomers in his time, beginning with the ever popular Hell In A Cell match with Mankind many years ago. Maybe, and I hope not, this may be his final chapter.

We know Mysterio injured the Undertaker so this other storyline is really a bunch of unbelievable and tasteless drivel.
Vickie Guerrero was in the ring arguing with the ref for 20 or 30 seconds before the end of the Kofi Kingston - Dolph Ziggler title match. Nice to see Ziggler get a title but did they really need to book it in such a preposterous way?
There is a cartoonish element to the booking lately that is getting a bit hard to take.

This is wishful thinking but I hope it's Rey Mysterio. It would be logical for the reasons that Travis Tubbs guy mentioned in the 2nd posted comment.
If wwe wants to spice things up this has potential to be huge. But knowing wwe and it's tendency to not give fans what they want I'm guessing it will be another Kane vs. Undertaker storyline. To me, that's about as fresh of a feud as John Cena Vs. Randy Orton.
Posted by: Jr | August 8, 2010 11:19 PM
Smackdown is no doubt the best wrestling show out of the lot... but the Kane storyline is so predictable Kane will win at Summerslam against Rey Mysterio and then the Undertaker will appear when lights go off and back on.
Taker will attack Kane setting up a World Title match at the next PPV called HELL IN A CELL which both wrestlers have some histroy in... dont you reckon Kev
and I also agree MVP needs a push to a IC TITLE against Dolph Ziggler or even a rivarly between the two and I really want MVP to turn heel again.

lolwtf? who ever said that mvp was anything more than a jobber? he's been one since he switched to raw and is still one back on smackdown.

I'm also warming up to Cody Rhodes' "dashing" persona. The grooming tip segments are amusing, and I'm even starting to like his music. I noticed he no longer has the triforce on his boots, however, which bums me out a little.

why Undertaker
Posted by: Habib | August 9, 2010 2:41 PM
McIntyre said he injured Christian's arm...is this legitimate or just used to get heat??
Posted by: eee | August 9, 2010 7:47 PM
1. Where's Shad gaspard
2. If striker knows so much about wrestling how come he was never a champ
3. Alberto del rio better wrestle soon or he will just do those promos the rest of his career
RESPONSE FROM KE:
1. In FCW.
2. Same reason Bob Uecker was never an All-Star.
3. OK.

Is undertaker dead?
Who might have attacked him?
I really think it would be one of his dreadful enemy.

"I noticed he no longer has the triforce on his boots, however, which bums me out a little."
Yeah I noticed that to. It's unfortunate. One of the reasons I've always liked him.
But it's okay in the end cause at least now he has a real gimmick.
Posted by: Leonhart | August 10, 2010 5:24 PM
Ay Kev I'm late on the SD! comments haha but your response to Buck on the last one, number 3 haha, you just said "OK." hahaha that made me laugh a lot haha xD. Hilarious idk why!
But ay I wonder what the chances are we see Cryme Tyme back together do you think? Kind of like Jericho and Edge. Because a) it seems maybe the tag team division might be back on the rise.. slightly and b) both of them, quite frankly, suck individually. Nobody cares about Shad and JTG sucks in the ring, although he is charasmatic! It's baffeling that WWE released Mike Knox only to make Shad the new big heel midcarder. Ugh.

I have trouble with the Dashing Cody Rhodes gimmick because I have always found him to be rather goofy looking. Is that just me or is it part of a joke that I am missing out on? Do you have any idea if the diva's poll that supposedly started this was legit or not? Would you consider him dashing?

REY DID NOT ATTACK THE UNDERTAKER,IT WAS KANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!whoever says rey is guilty, they are retarded and will not be AWSOME.
Posted by: El Rayo del pasado | August 17, 2010 12:10 PM
Did undertaker know who attack him, or was he attack by night. Let him say some words inregard to that.
