The latest on Paul Heyman’s status with TNA

According to a report on pwinsider.com, it seems like a question of when, not if, Paul Heyman will be joining TNA.

Sources told the website that Heyman will be coming in to oversee a “complete makeover of the company roster and TNA’s front office.” The story said that both sides are saying that nothing is official yet, but the reporter said he believes “they are much closer to a deal than they are letting on.”

A report on wrestlingobserver.com also stated that a deal has not been finalized “but talks are very much alive.”

In an interview with The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer after the Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin UFC fight on July 3, Heyman made it clear that he would not come to TNA simply to be the booker – he wants compete control of the company and would settle for nothing less.

I can’t imagine the Carter family giving Heyman or anyone that much power, but time will tell. It’s also possible that Heyman’s “all or nothing” attitude could just be a negotiating ploy.

It’s interesting that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have been less visible as the Heyman-to-TNA talk has heated up. Hogan and Bischoff were not at Sunday night’s Victory Road pay-per-view and will not be at the Impact tapings this week either.

Bischoff had said publicly that he was taking the week off to spend time with his family. As for Hogan, pwinsider.com said the word on him was that he was still recovering from the back surgery he underwent last week.

Hey Kevin,
Do you think Paul Heyman may be apart of the "They" that Abyss keeps saying is coming? If not him, who do you think it may be?

Color me intrigued!!!!

TNA's roster with Heyman in charge & a re-hired Cornette... dare to dream!

Is Dixie carter really this stupid? I used to love TNA, but it seems to me like they are purposely destroying that company. Paul heyman ? I mean how many guys have they promised complete control to the company to? Lets see first their was Foley, then Hulk, now this loser. The problem with TNA is the Carters, they can never build any momentum because they are always changing everything.

I guess Jeff Jarrett jumped the gun when he said in interviews that there would be a huge announcement on the PPV. I suppose he assumed the Heyman signing would be a done deal by then.
Isn't it interesting that the TNA product has improved dramatically since Hogan and his cronies disappeared from the spotlight?
The addition of Heyman could make the ECW invasion angle work, but what concerns me is that it would put Hogan back as a face defending the honor of TNA. Despite the plants in the crowd for the TNA TV tapings, Hogan has not gone over as a face. Of course, Hogan as a face might just make Heyman the most popular heel ever and I don't know if Hogan's ego is ready to play that game.

Nothing will "fix" TNA. Their biggest downfall has been their repeated attempts to go after WWE.

From importing all of the WWE's fallen heroes and midcarders...to changing their gimmick to fit a 4 ring square...to even trying to go head to head with the E!

They need to just stay in their own lane, get bigger financial backers to believe in them, boost up bigger homegrown stars (Abyss looking like Mankind and trotting around with Hogan is not the face of a company!!!!) and start spending time on the damn road!

Even if it's just in the smallest convention centers possible. Ain't nothing wrong with being at some college arena when the E would probably be at the huge civic center. Still all good!

It's just bothering to me, an internet fan, to have WCW being pushed upon me again. You can't fool us!!!! We remember WCW. We remember the characters, the music, some of the plots, all of the weird matches, and just general chaos and confusion. Bringing in Heyman would be like the Knicks rehiring Isiah Thomas. You already know how the script is going to be performed!!!!

I typically have read about TNA since it was on Fox Sports Net. The idea that people paid weekly for it was amazing at first. Seemed promising...but I never felt compelled to see JJ hold the strap at the time.

I watched TNA for a few weeks this year, and I was unimpressed. Heyman coming would only lead to a mini-ECW with weird, but somewhat clear plots. Remember - the man wanted to push over vampires when it went to Sci-fi initially!

Stay in your lane TNA. Don't whore yourselves out anymore. Quit the madness. Just stop.

THANK GOD.

TNA will soon be good again for the first time in years.

„I can’t imagine the Carter family giving Heyman or anyone that much power, but time will tell. It’s also possible that Heyman’s “all or nothing” attitude could just be a negotiating ploy.”

I´m a little bit confused. I somehow thought that Bischoff and Hogan had complete control? So what exactly is the position of Bischoff and Hogan? Just members of the booking team?

RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't believe they have the level of control that Heyman is asking for.

Kev - I'm confused......didn't the company have a "complete makeover" 6 months ago when Hogan took over? If the report is true, how can Hogan and Heyman each have "control" over the company?

RESPONSE FROM KE: Heyman will; Hogan won't.

If they gave Heyman complete control of TNA, then TNA would be a force to be reckoned with, and would actually be worth a damn.

With as good as Impact has been the past several weeks, foucs on the upcoming PPV, easy to follow storylines, good continuity, focus on the wrestling, I would've thought he was already doing to booking.
It will be intresting to see how him and Bischoff will get along.

Smells like yet another TNA makeover. I wonder what happened with the Hogan Bischoff pairing?

This would be wonderful news, if true.

Hey Kevin-what do you think of Heyman in TNA? I just hope they don't try another ECW rebirth angle-would like to thnik Heyman is smarter than that

Besides hiring myself, this is the best possible move Dixie Carter and TNA can make. If only they would have made it 6 months ago. Heyman is inarguably a better writer, booker and talent evaluator than Bischoff (and certainly Hogan). Here's to this partnership happening and maybe resuscitating this dead fed.

Heyman coming to TNA would really, quoting Hogan, "turn this company around." He made guys like Sandman, Balls Mahoney, Taz, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and others into compelling wrestlers. Imagine what he could do with all of the talent in TNA.

One of the best things of the original ECW, was that all the matches seem to have real endings. Compare that to the Russo-esque matches involving the Knockout's title, from briefcases to a mystery person on a motorcycle, yikes!

Kev, isn't this the kind of thing you have been crying (shouting) for? Heyman can do wonders there, he has more talent than ever and the mind to put it together. He won't bury the young guys like Hogan & Bischoff did when they came in and he knows how to tell a story. This could really be exciting, take the current momentum, and let Heyman run with it. Can't wait, really hope this is true as for Jason & MissSouthern Elite, you don't like TNA obviously to me, maybe I'm wrong but wither way you can't have it both ways, scream for change and then complain whe it happens. Can't Wait.

Ay Kev, do you think that Bischoff or Hogan would want to play second fiddle to a guy they competed against so much in the 90's?

That said.. hopefully TNA brings him in.

HEYMAN IN TNA???? He is a wrestling mad scientist, genius and whatever else you can think of. TNA should be lucky to have him! They need to do something, ever since they got rid of the 6 sided ring the products gotten kinda boring.

Heyman has the knack for making people believe in themselves. I would love to see him get a shot at running the show, he deserves it. I really want Hogan and Bischoff to succeed but so far their work hasn't lived up to the hype. Hopefully, if Heyman comes in, everyone will buy in to what he wants to do, including Hogan and Bischoff. Hogan wants to succeed but I bet he would be satisfied with his character being relevant again, Heyman could make that happen.

I recommend to anyone that hasn't seen it to track down the video with Heyman that Kevin mentions. He basically outlines why TNA doesn't work (the product sucks, and it has no publicity) and what is needed to fix it (one unifying direction, across the board). Basically, to come to TNA, he'd have to be the bottom line guy in every area, plus it would have to be financially lucrative for him to invest all that time and energy. Heyman is a REALLY smart guy; anyone that thinks he'd just make TNA into ECW doesn't understand the way he thinks. Heyman is one of the few guys in wrestling that understands what worked THEN might not work NOW. He's the one guy, I think, that really does have the ability to turn this wreck into a legitimate #2 wrestling company.

anyone that says Heyman is not good doesn't know wrestling.

Heyman is by far the smartest and best marketing and booker in wrestling. wwe wanted to hire him back for big money but he said no.

Dixie Carter and Vince Russo are ruining this company. So many story lines just go no where and Dixie Carter wanting Shane Douglas and others back in TNA was comical.

Heyman want's full control but Dixie Carter wants full credit. Heyman is the only hope for this product.

southern miss elite half of your comment was right on.

TNA wants to own the world without buying a house first. But you say stop being WWE well WWE plays to places; anywhere and everywhere; that's why some of their wrestlers drop dead every year.

Wrestling in general sucks; the WWE is pretty much for teenagers now and the wrestling is comical at times.

With McMahon's wife running for office, now they go vanilla so they wont make her look bad.

Heyman was offered a boat load of money to come back to WWE mostly because they knew how good he is.

ECW is the greatest wrestling organization of all time. By far. And Heyman started it out of his basement.

Dixie Carter and Vince Russo need to get out of the way. Heyman is their only hope, and even with him, it will take time.

I have been a wrestling fan all my life. TNA has gotten so much better in recent months. Paul Heyman can only improve the product. He's a wrestling genius. Who else could have done the things he did with ECW with limited financial resources? I think it would be a wonderful idea to get him on board!

As a die hard ECW fan of the mid 90's and the attitude era, I can't wait to see Paul E. Dangerously standing in a ring again. WWE has suffered horribly since paul left the story line writing staff. Paul knows entertainment. TNA will set the standard for sports entertainment as long as Paul runs the company and Dixie runs the financial department. The fans of true hardcore will pour into the arenas to see what will happen next. Anyone who remembers the day when pretty boy tommy dreamer became hardcore will be in line with me to be entertained.

You people Are the stupedest Fans in wrestling . First Hogan is not in control
Carter is it is called a story line Look it up!!!!!!!!!! Carter makes all the calls, I have been a wrestler for 12 years and never seen a post as stuped as the ones on here
