Report: Ricky Steamboat hospitalized with brain aneurysm

WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat suffered a brain aneurysm Wednesday night and is currently being hospitalized, according to a report on wrestlingobserver.com. His prognosis is good to excellent.

WWE had announced on its website earlier today that Steamboat, 57, went to the hospital Wednesday night after experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder, but there was no mention of a brain aneurysm.

Steamboat was taken from the ring on a stretcher after taking part in an injury angle on Raw Monday night, but according to WWE, “his condition is most likely not related to his performance on Monday night.”

Brain aneurysms are like ticking bombs. I've known three people who have been struck down by them. I hope they caught Steamboat's in time to treat it.

Get well soon Dragon. One of the all time greats, and a childhood favorite. He used to make me think of Bruce Lee (the first dragon).

Expecting him to pull through.

Hoo boy. If it's at all related to taking bumps on Monday the media is going to swarm WWE like sharks.

Guys like McMahon and Steamboat should not be taking huge bumps like we've seen in the last two weeks -- Steamboat is 57 and McMahon is 64 and neither is an active wrestler.

Someone is showing incredibly poor judgement by booking these spots.

They better hope it doesn't have to do with what happened on Monday night or head might roll. Oh wait, nothing will happen, yeah he's a legend but he's not HHH or Super Cena so then again unless outcry poors, nothing might happen. Poor thing, he let them take in what what his only time to get promo for his dvd (since htey haven't bothered before that night) in order to put over the rookies, pitiful.

Brain Anysersums are very serious and shouldn't be taken lightly. My husband has 3 and has had 2 brain operations to fix 1 I wonder if there is any chance that these celebrities can get together and spread Brain Anysersum awareness

Get well soon Dragon.

It seems like this Nexus angle is jinxed... A really good shocking story line with the firing of the Daniel Brian the next day. Wade Barret is off tv now because of visa issues. WWE pulls footage of Nexus beating down Ricky Steamboat because of the possible connection (or appearance of a connection) of an aneurysm. It will be hard to put wind in the sails of this story again.

There is no level that Vince"Sleazeball"McMahon will sink to to boost ratings.I don't even watch anymore.

When he was being carried off in a stretcher during the angle, I noticed how his hands were super stiff and I immediately got concerned.

I hope he's ok, and it REALLY better not be connected to the bumps he took.

There likely no connection between him taking a bump and this aneurysm. These don't happen overnight. They tend to be weak spots in blood vessels that balloon and eventually burst. My mother-in-law died from one, so did a friend, and neither had any head injuries prior to the aneurysm. From what I have heard and read, they could be genetic and there are environmental factors that could contribute to them, like smoking. I never heard of physical injuries causing them.

I had the honor of sitting around and chatting with Ricky a few years back. He is truly one of the nicest guys I've ever met in the business.
Best of luck, and a speedy recovery Dragon.

Dear Dragon,

You were the face in 4 of the 5 greatest matches of all time.

I believe you have adequately done your part to promote this industry.

I hope that your days of taking bumps are now over. Physical sacrifice is not necessary from any of the all-time greats.

I pray for your full recovery,
A lifelong fan

you go dragon, we're all pullin for you. Dont worry about wimps like burt

Your right Burt from Essex, I thought Ricky was paralyzed. These Nexus punks should get exterminated or whatever for putting their hands on anybody!

i been a fan of yours , your whole time with the wwf. i used to go to the boston gardens back in the days when wrestling was wrestling my prays are with you get well soon
