Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney confirmed for TNA’s Hardcore Justice
Baltimore’s Axl Rotten said that he is signed for TNA’s ECW-themed pay-per-view, Hardcore Justice, and will be teaming with longtime tag partner Balls Mahoney at the Aug. 8 event.
Although no official announcements have been made regarding what other former ECW talent will be working the show, Jerry Lynn, The Sandman and Sabu all appear in the Hardcore Justice commercial. It is believed that Lynn will wrestle TNA world champion Rob Van Dam, as the two had a series of outstanding matches together in ECW back in the day.

I certainly hope Rotten Balls (that was their tag team name, right?) can manage to get themselves back into the peak condition we came to expect during their heyday. I mean, not everyone can achieve the combination of puff and bloat that Scott Hall realized this past spring, but when you're re-hashing another promotion's idea from five years ago, you have to have some standards.

I can't believe TNA is going out of there way to do something with ECW,that died years ago,and they should focus on the guys they have not jobbers wwe had

It would be pretty great to see Lynn vs. Van Dam one more time.
I wonder if there's any chance of Al Snow donning the tights and bringing out Head? That was a real highlight when I saw him last year at a F1RST show in Minneapolis.

In other news, Staples Inc. announced on Saturday that they have signed an exclusive sponsorship deal with TNA to use "Harcore Justice" as a launch for their new line of nickel-plated steel thumbtacks.
This follows the deterioration of talks between Dixie Carter and John Chapsky, marketing director for Stanley-Bostitch.

So if I'm the Pope, or Jay Lethal, or Desmond Wolfe, or Mr. Anderson,or Hernandez, etc., do I just kill myself now, or what?

What is with all the hate, these will be great to good matches, what's wrong with som nostalgia?I like i and the way it is being done,I really don't see why (as some pt it) that the young TNA stars should be threatened, I think they are handling this in anopen and good way.Sure some of these guys are going to be nt wuite what they were, but Jerry Lynne v Van Damn? C'mon, they've never put together a bad match and never will. I look forward to HARD JUSTICE or whatever it's called now,how about we have some fun?Enough of all the criticism

Has it been confirmed that this will be exclusively ECW alumni or could current TNA roster be included in hardcore matches? I thought Abyss had challenged RVD to a hardcore match at the next PPV.

The problem with nostalgia is that we tend to remember things as we remember them, not necessarily the way they happened. For a company that after 7 years is still struggling to form an identity, attempting to recreate history with aging stars and failed ideas (and yes, ECW was a failed idea) isn't going to get it anywhere, especially when it has a roster full of capable guys to begin with. The issue with TNA is its impatience. Every time it seems like it finds its stride, it blows everything up because ratings didn't skyrocket in a month. It's a shame that TNA seems to go out of its way to promote everything except TNA. ECW was exciting and innovative, but it was also a niche product that only appealed to a select group of hardcore fans for a reason. People have grossly exaggerated ECW and Paul Heyman's "genius" for years.

The people that hate on ECW are the ones that have never watched it. They do not understand what these guys put their bodies through day in and day out. The wrestlers of today, 90% of them could not compete on the ECW level. Congrads goes out to Axl, Balls, Lynn, Dreamer, Raven and the rest of the ECW originals. Bring the roof off the impact zone.

THE Joe Barber?

Dave024 has it right. The ECW haters never saw the original company in action. ECW was by far the best wrestling company in its time. It didn't set up the WWF's "Attitude Era", it set up the entire wrestling revival of the '90s. Arguably, if Todd Gordon screwed the company over, it would have beat out WWF and been the #1 wrestling company today.
