Report: Scott Hall fired by TNA

It looks as if TNA has said goodbye to “The Bad Guy.”

According to reports, TNA made the call to part ways with Scott Hall and he was written out of the story line at this week’s Impact tapings.

Hall, who was arrested last month on charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest in Florida, reportedly was working on a per-appearance basis with TNA.

Personally, I’m amazed that Hall lasted as long as he did in TNA. Despite a well-documented history of substance abuse problems and erratic behavior, Hall was brought into the company by the Hulk Hogan-Eric Bischoff regime last January.

It was obvious right from the start that Hall, 51, was out of shape and had no business in the ring. His appearances on television made a mockery of the business, yet he was rewarded with a run as a TNA tag team champion.

Good. It's about time TNA stopped enabling a drunk who brings absolutely nothing to the table. Humoring the Nasty Boys was bad enough—because as you say, their appearances in-ring made a mockery of the business. But Hall's situation is worse because he obviously needs help, and sorry to say, the only way a person in that condition ever gets help is after hitting rock bottom. Anything that prevents that from happening—like TNA's paychecks—just feeds into the cycle. They were hurting him by allowing him to work, and helping nobody.

the only reason i started wacthing TNA is becoz of Scott Hall. i used to hate Tna.its becoz of razor ramon i watch Tna otherwise i wouldn even spit at tna.scott hall is TNa infact scott hall should b Tna main event champion.i love razor....Razor even with a wheel chair got a hell more business then any other TNA's supid wrestler like samoa joe,aj styles beer money

What's sad is that this might not be his last chance in the business.

NOOOOOO!!! Why would anyone watch TNA now?

oh sure... but the other countless drug adicts in TNA... well thats not important. I swear to god its like theirs a conspiracy against the man. Yeah, everybody knows hes an alcoholic.... why'd you hire him then? Go ahead and fire everyone in TNA then, since the only reason people go there is because of lax drug testing.... TNA is a joke again without Scott Hall. And how dare they try to blame his in ring skill for their inability to do anything with one of the most regognized and loved wrestlers in history.... TNA F's up again.....

About time. Now if only they would fire the rest of Team Hogan before TNA is completely ruined. It was never that great before but it is just an embarrassment for the most part now (talking about the booking and such mostly, not the talent).

Scott Hall is one of my top 5 favorite wrestlers of all time. It's a shame that he never won the world belt in wwf/e nor wcw. He's a hall of famer but let's be honest, he needs HELP.

Scott Hall needs to overcome his drug abuse before they do him in.

It's about time. Too little, too late though. Hogan already ruined TNA. Not many of his boys left.

Kev,I watched some old AWA clips on youtube and saw to my disbelief Scott Hall wrestling Col. Debeers. After taking a good look, I realized it was actually the Scott Hall who just got canned by TNA. Seeing him then and now, it is such a shame he cannot overcome his demons. He was awesome and his talent seemed limitless.Sad...

I just read at Pro Wrestling.net that Sean Waltman is gone as well....once again everyone gets jacked up when these has-beens come in to TNA and then think that "this time it'll be different" when you know deep inside you're betting when they're gonna f**k up and get fired....AGAIN! AND AGAIN! AND AGAIN!

I don't know who is more of an enabler: the promotions who are just money marks for his name (Hall) or the idiotic fans that have a need to hang on to the past and keep worshipping these guys who constantly disappoint . How many times do ya have to get dumped by the same girl before you give up???? It's the same thing.....no show, get fired, come back and behave for a month, then the same sh*t again. Total wastes of two once great talents...........

I'll admit it. I have been a huge fan of Scott Hall for many years.
Living in Florida, I witnessed Hall's early career in the NWA and it was obvious he would be a major star.
I thought his Razor Ramon character in WWE was one of the best ever in wrestling. His American-playing-a-Cuban was as good as Al Pacino doing Scarface, priceless.
Hall's unforgetable Ladder Match with Shawn Michaels is one of the top five matches I've ever witnessed.
But, it was his NWO takeover angle that really sealed the deal for me. I had gotten bored with wrestling for about two or three years. Hall & Nash & the NWO drew me back. Hall was really on top of his game then. There was no one better on the mic at that time and he performed very well in the ring.
After his WCW run, I bumped into Scott in an Orlando gym several times. He shared some hysterical stories from his wrestling days, he was polite and friendly and fun to work out with.
I was excited about his return to the ring in TNA, but I was stunned by his physical appearance. He bore little resemblence to the guy who was in awesome shape only several years prior. He wasn't nearly as sharp on the mic (which was odd because he was pretty amusing on some of his YouTube videos) and what really concerned me was how unsteady he appeared on his feet in the ring.
I think he was showing some improvement, but even as a long-time fan, I found it hard to watch this version of Scott Hall. I can't argue with TNA's decision, but I am still sad that the door is closing on the career of one of the greatest professional wrestlers of my lifetime.
Thanks for all the entertainment, Scott, and best of luck!

He was oozing something and it wasn't machismo. Jose Cuervo maybe?

LarryB hit it right on the head. Remember people, alcoholism is an illness. I think the idea of bringing the Outsiders to TNA was a great idea, though as tag champs I am dissapointed by their lack of ring work.

Hall has always done his best work on the microphone and his ring skills were pretty darn good as well. I am pretty bummed about the downward spiral that he has taken and I will miss him.

Honestly,

Hall had me interested in TNA. I went to the first show in Orlando because of Hall and Hogan being there. The guy is funny and has charisma. Great guy!

TNA sucks without hogan, hall, nash, xpac, val venis and all the other guys.

Samoa Joe is terrible btw.

Wow....it just shows how sick Scott Hall really is. Kn owing this is your last chance and STILL blowing it! I think this will disappoint Nash more than anyone cause he stuck his neck out for Hall. I just can't see WWE or TNA bringing him back, sadly I think this is the last we'll see of Scott Hall in a major wrestling promotion in ANY capacity. He might get a few gigs here and there in an Indy like before his TNA gig but that's it. I don't think he'll even be given a shot at the WWE "Hall of Fame." He had everything, size, charisma, skill...but his head wasn't on straight. Nash and HBK were able to overcome their demons, sadly Hall and Waltman were not.

Scott Hall is not TNA. I don't watch TNA any more. TNA go to Hell!

If the best wrestler of all times is gone, I hope TNA will be gone, too!

Hall has problems, yes. But almost all the wrestlers drink, smoke, fight, beat their wives, or are crazy...What do you want.?They have a hard job..they are always on the road..and their relationships suffer from it. But Hall brings more personality to the show the most of the "young" talent. After this blows over he'll be back. Look at Hogan, Flair, Shawn, they all have "issues" as well, and they came back.

I just hope TNA owners and management read these blog comments. Maybe they'll wake up and realize what they are doing to their own company. Is anyone REALLY surprised that Hall got fired?

Sadly, I think he saw this coming. According to other reports, he wrote "unemployed" on the arrest paperwork in the spot asking who he worked for. Please, Scott, get clean.

Guys, he's 51 years old. The only sad thing about this is that TNA put him on tv in the first place.

Great article as always, Kevin. Still hoping that Bryan Danielson's firing is a work, or, if not, that he'll be back soon in the WWE.

By the way, the correct idiomatic expression is "toeing the line."

See http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/toe%20the%20line

For more details on the origin of the phrase, check out http://hewritesaboutwords.blogspot.com/2007/02/toeing-line.html

Cheers!

How many times hass Hall hit rock bottom?
7?

It's mind boggling to me that some people actually think that Hall is some great asset that TNA is missing out on. The guy can't walk to the ring without stumbling around the place. "Greatest of all time" he is not.

I'm old enough to remember when Scott Hall got his start from Florida Championship Wrestling. He was introduced as the next Golden Boy and given a huge push. He has been given every opportunity and has crapped it away every time. And now they sign Tommy Dreamer? Sign some stars that are under 40, please !!!!!

I can still remember when Kevin Nash and Scott broke into WCW because "We go where we want, when we want!" That was the beginning of, IMHO, the greatest era in Pro wrestling, culminating in the NWO. The sad and disturbing end of the WCW left a bad taste in my mouth andcaused me to swear off wrestling, for what I thought was forever, until I saw some of the old WCW/NWO stars showing up on TNA- They are the only reason I watch, and I buy every PPV. I miss Scott Hall already, and am considering swearing off again. IHe should not, repeat NOT been fired!!!

What if every wrestler had no bad record. It would be very lame. The bad guys spice it up.

Totally DISAGREE with this article, Scott was out of shape when he came in - that was clear, but week in week out he has shown improvment in both shape & in ring condition.

I can't coment on the decision to release him, I'm sure what ever caused it left TNA with no choice, but I am sad to see Scott leave, he's shown improvment on so many levels - including most notibly in my opinion his acceptence of other talent in his attempts to put them over.

Just because some plays the same guy year in year out, doesn't mean he's the same guy backstage

Scott Hall is my favourate Pro Wrestler and its a shame TNA released him from his contract. He was my favourate when he was in WCW/nWo and WWE and i hope this isnt the last time we see him in a major promotion. He may be 51 years old but he can still entertain the fans. Hey Yo Scott Hall 4 Life.

No disrespect, but Scott's days are numbered. He has burning it at both ends for way to long and no rehab in sight.

well tna has f'ed up too much now hogan needs to get out and do his own thing bring real wrestling back, scott hall rulls tna needs erratic behaier cuz its boaring as hell now

There should be no shock that Hall got released . . .the NWO/Wolf Pack days are done. Back in the day they were cool, but this ain't the late 90's or early 2000's and agree with the article that that Hall,at 51, was out of shape, had no business in the ring and just looked pathetic. Plus the name "the Band" sucked!
