Mystery of the Raw GM solved?

Ever since Vince McMahon announced on Raw last Monday that Bret Hart had been fired as the show’s general manager and replaced by someone who wished to remain anonymous, speculation has run rampant as to the identity of the new GM.

My initial thought was that it’s Michael Cole, but I changed my mind when McMahon was shown backstage talking on the phone to the GM. It doesn’t seem likely that Cole would be speaking to McMahon while sitting at the announce table right next to Jerry Lawler.

The other name I threw out there last week was Shane McMahon, but I don’t really think it’s him either. I also don’t buy that it’s Jim Ross, Daniel Bryan, Shawn Michaels, Vickie Guerrero, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H or JBL – all of whom are popular choices among the Internet Wrestling Community. And it most certainly is not Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

So, who is it?

The best guess I have seen yet came from a reader named Nathan, who posted the following comment on Sunday:

“ … it’s Abraham Washington...he's aligned with Nexus. Former [Florida Championship Wrestling] GM...knows all the FCW talent...motivation from ECW being cancelled...It's time for the Abraham Washington Show.”

Bingo.

Not only does Washington as the GM make sense in the story line, but there were reports that Washington was strongly considered for the GM role last month before WWE decided on Hart.

For fans hoping for a big name, Washington no doubt would be a letdown, but I think he’d be a fine choice. While “The Abraham Washington Show” segments on ECW were hit or miss, Washington clearly demonstrated that he has the gift of gab, and from what I’ve read, he did a good job as GM in FCW.

Plus, if Washington gets the gig, perhaps WWE could bring back Tony Atlas as his assistant. Now that would be entertaining.

Abraham Washington not really a jaw dropper i mean he does have flash it would more shocking if HBK was the GM.

Has it ever occured to you that the "new" GM is just Bret Hart undercover and that Wade Barrett really could be the invasion leader

Abraham Washington would definitely be a letdown for those expecting a big name, but I don't think the WWE has implied that it will definitely be a huge name. They've just mentioned low-key that the GM is anonymous.

Having an unknown GM creates a specter in our minds that will almost always be more exciting that any flesh and blood person. Therefore, keeping the GM under wraps for a while would be a good idea, especially if it is Washington.

Tiffany as GM of EWC is one thing, Washington as GM of Raw is another. Who knows, Goldberg had recent talks with the company, anything is possible I guess.

I think that washington is a let- down but will be a great gm according to all the comments made about his reign as gm in FCW. Not a well- known name, so the viewers don't know what to expect from him.

Damn!;I thought that the new GM of monday night raw was STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN...

i think it's dwayne "the rock" johnson because i hear he's supposed to return to the ring this summer

The New Raw GM is Melina

No....the Raw GM will be The Rock. He's already stated in a previous interview that he was interested in a non-wrestling role with the WWE and he was planning on starting in June

I'll search google news for that interview for proof. It's The Rock though.

Has it ever occured to you that the "new" GM could be Bret Hart undercover and that Wade Barrett really might be the nxt invasion leader?

Why is it always an "e-mail" from the GM? Does he not know how to text? This is 2010. Next they're going to reveal that he has a Compuserve account.

I just hope that the WWE does have an idea who the GM is, and this isn't another Black Scorpion. I don't think it's Cole either, mainly because I think that would be too much like how Mike Adamlie became GM. Plus, for better or for worse, Michael Cole is now the voice of the company, and that's not someone they can just replace (unless they decide to actually deploy the two best announcers on the payroll, Jim Ross and Joey Styles, properly). How about Vince Russo? Now THAT would be a surprise.

I still think it's Michael Cole. On tonight's (June 28) Raw, Cole was silent on commentary while Nexus was beating up the legends. He seems to go mute whenever a Nexus run-in happens...happens too often to be a coincidence.

Given the amount of attention they are giving this angle, I think someone with a substantial history in the business and a reputation as a talker is probably necessary to keep it moving forward.

This is Raw, not Velocity, and it is a being set up as a major long arc, front burner storyline (involving McMahon, Cena, etc.), not a sidebar angle.

The angle is already slipping in my view. They need to get these guys wrestling to make it interesting. The run ins were interesting at first but watching them take out Steamboat, Anderson, Rotundo, Hayes and Malenko didn't do much for me. They were on to something at first but now are trying to drag it out.

The way this is being booked is also inadvertently making the existing talent look incredibly incompetent and weak.
Surely someone would have risked suspension and interfered.

How do I get a job where I just have to watch RAW on TV and send a few emails to Michael Cole?

Not sure about Wade Barrett. According to several sites both he and McIntyre have been pulled from TV due to work visa problems. Barrett may have actually returned to England in order to get his situation resolved.

I agree somewhat with ryans post, my feeling is that the reason wwe have made the gm anonymous is because they are stalling till bret can come back. word going round is that bret left because his insurance provider were unhappy with how much physicality was used against bret on viewers choice raw, so i firmly believe they taken him out while he gets it sorted and in the meantime use this anonymous gm till he can make his return. it makes perfect sense

I have no doubt that Abraham Washington could be a good GM - great mic skills and a good character will quickly get him over...but my problem is that the NXT "superstars" (wrestlers) are also trying to get over, and I think that in order for them to be considered a threat they need a strong/majourly over leader.

Wasn't Tony Atlas future endeavored?

RESPONSE FROM KE: Yes.

Just let it play out, for Christ's sake. Everyone wants results right away and if ya don't get it, everyone gets p***ed. I really don't care who it is, I just want stuff to make sense.

"Huh huh! Ahuh huh huh huh huh!"

It's the ghost of Jack Tunney.

I've just read on pwinsder that Wade Barret and Drew McIntyre have both legitimately had their visa's expire, hence Barret's absence from raw last night and McIntyre's storyline. If this is true, I've got to wonder how anyone at WWE had failed to notice this was coming. It seems extremely strange.

Yay, a one-time return of Comment of the Week! Thanks Nathan!

It's HHH. Used Nexus to get and keep the belt on the human jar of Mayonaise. Will have him compete in the steel cage and if Shameful wins he will look to get revenge and the title if Shameful looses to Cena HHH has him in the cage for a revenge a** whooping. All leading into Summer Slam.

Has anyone thought it might be Paul Heyman or Jim Cornette? I know they have their beefs with Vince McMahon but he did hire Eric Bischoff at one point. It could be less likely Paul Heyman as I believe he will eventually join TNA and the encroaching ECW faction. But you never know...Vince McMahon doesn't seem to let personal issues stand in his way of making money. It would also be a huge shocker if it were Vince Russo while he's working for TNA. What a kick in the gut to Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff that would be and Vince knows it.

Abraham Washington would be a funny choice if for no other reason than the outrage it would create for some fans.

Why would all the rookies agree to follow him? How could he get away with attacking McMahon? Those questions necessitate that it is someone that is in a higher position than all the members of Nexus, and being the GM of FCW isn't powerful enough.

Wade Barrett should have just said he is using the others as his muscle, end of story. The other six would go along in order to make names for themselves and eventually get contracts.

Here are my possible GM candidates:

Jim Crockett
Bob Backlund
Elmo
Stephanie McMahon
Ric Flair
Scott Hall
Ricky Morton
Ricky Steamboat
Wade Barrett
HHH
JBL
Ronnie Garvin
Sarah Palin

Eck - you gonna let Schmuck run you down like that on his blog???

It's going to be David Arquette.

I saw his name tossed around on some wrestling websites this time last week with the same logic, so props to Nathan for reading I guess. As I said before, the fact that VKM would give complete authority to anyone is illogical, especially to a relative nobody (in terms of wrestling fame, recognition, and heat) in Abraham Washington, not to mention how "buddy-buddy" they were on the phone (although I'm sure that could be ignored like many of the other plot holes in this latest NWO ripoff). I could see him being the leader of Nexus (although I maintain that the GM doesn't necessarily have to be their leader and it would be better if he weren't), but him being revealed as the GM would be an astronomical letdown. In fact, of all the possibilities both real and unreal (read: The Rock), Washington is probably the worst option. In fact, I'd go as far to call it an Adamle-level mistake.

Abraham and (hopefully) Tony Atlas wouldn't be a letdown for ME! I enjoyed their act on ECW, and miss them both. They would certainly add some much-desired personality to RAW. I just hope they don't go crazy with handicap matches once this new GM is revealed. They kill me with that two-on-one mess.

Gotta agree with JTK here - Schmuck's blog post (never heard of the guy until now) seemed pretty condescending both towards the profession of wrestling and by association, you (as someone else mentioned: a colleague). Seems pretty unprofessional to me...and he didn't really say anything of consequence anyway... Wierd.

Washington would be a great annoying heel GM. Well done on the guess!

Eugene

You know it makes total sense when you really think about it. Bischoff is on TNA, Eugene is his nephew. It all adds up.

Abraham Washington was quite entertaining on Florida Championship Wrestling. It wouldn't break my heart to see him replace Hart as GM.

Paul E.

Although this seems highly likely, I honestly do believe that HBK or HHH are the most likely options. Firstly, HBK has previous GM experience a.k.a. check the attitude area. Secondly, he's been the everlasting follow-up act to Bret Hart. After all, how could there be more pathetic Bret Hart Biography specials without this? I'm about 90% certain this is HBK's way of edging back into wrestling since his actual career is closing on him. Alternatively, there are many rumors from higher up sources that HHH is finally off the injured/inactive list. Since he and HBK are long-time best friends both in storyline and real life, he would be the most natural choice to get one over on Bret Hart. After all this whole "mystery" is based on the failings of Hart. I'm just glad Hart is gone. Although he was a GREAT wrestler pre-HBK, he is one of the most cheesy acts on WWE ever, following only the new Cena attitude. Oh well, we'll always have the attitude era.

Although this is completely off-topic, I would really love to see the return of the Hardcore championship - after all, that was one of the main reasons the WW(F)E beat over the WCW. Also, the divas title is just shameful. You can't have a great title that superstars like Moolah, Luna Vachon, and Chyna held and then this junky little title just to make the beauties of the WWE happy. Keep it around to give the tiny divas joy in contests like gimmick matches, and leave the women's title just for real matces.

P.s. Luna Vachon NEEDS to come back to the WWE, even if it's not in the ring. "In a world full of butterflies..." sometimes it's fun just to watch a real match; and the WWE is now SERIOUSLY lacking real women talent. Come on, Gail Kim weighs like 60 lbs. and the diva's champ MIGHT weigh 50 lbs.; the WWE is out of good female wrestlers through their own faults. Micke James should not have been released. The divas should have to be pretty, not the women wrestlers; even though most are.

Ok, thanks for the ranting and raving time. =D

Well, guess what?
Raw GM is Stone Cold Steve Austin...
Why? Well, right now in Raw he sent a e-mail to John Cena to ask in for a truce with Wade Barrett... But Cena refused and for this, the GM sent another e-mail asking Cena to do the "right thing" adding to the e-mail this:
"and that’s the bottom line because the GM said so.”

I think it is the rattlesnake stonecold steve austin because I was watching monday night raw tonight and i heard on the email that someone said cause that is the bottom line cause the general manager said so and another thing he said if u want to see a match than give me a hell yeah and no other superstar says that so it has to be stonecold but my dad thinks that it is paul hammin but I do not think that is him.

I think the new general manager of monday night raw is none other then the one the only. Dwayne The Rock Johnson he and cena have had alot of beefs lately in the past few months what a way to get wrestlemania kicked off already to have this thing lead all the way to wm27 where cena takes out all nexus members and he must fight the leader the rock. Vince is a very smart man the rock wont be revealed until about september just in time to start the hype for wm 27.

well all i say is that almost everything that the gm has said helped the heels

why is it definetly not the rock??
afterall, the rock is the one who is coming back to wwe this summer for a short term appointment, it just makes sense for the rock to be a temp gm on raw, think about it.

i think its triple h cuz he is suppose 2 return from he injury so its hhh

IT IS STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa

Abreaham: SHUT UP TONY!

Tony: -_-

I personally think HHH !

If you are not down with that, I have two words for you !!!

((((((((((((( XXXXXX ))))))))))))))))))

Team wwe is not gonna win summerslam

Jim Ross would still make a lot of sense.

hey mates.....the new raw gm s none other than THE GREAT ONE, THD PEOPLE'S CHAMP THE ROCK.....coz he said he s gonna come back 2 the wwe but as a non-wrertling role

Personally speaking whoever the new GM is, it's probably somebody who's still under contact with another fed or has contractural differences to settle before becoming public.

Don't be surprised if Mick Foley, Ric Flair, or somebody from TNA doesn't come forth as the new Raw GM.

It's Vince McMahon Sr. who is the GM! The DEAD has Risen!!

I may be 75% possibly that it is Batista. One night when Bret Hart was manager, he ordered Batista to face (then champion) John Cena to a rematch on Raw. Batista said that he couldn't because of injury, and forfeited his match. Then Batista quit the business (so he says). Then, when Nexus arrived, they attacked everyone (excluding Michael Cole). First, he got rid of Edge, Chris Jericho, and now possibly Cena (all Raw veterans). Second, he forced Cena to do whatever Wade Barrett tells him to do (all boloney). And finally, he did nothing to stop Nexus (without Cena) to attack Randy Orton (close friend of Batista) this past Monday on Raw. Batista thinks that he was getting fired from WWE, and uses Michael Cole as a "messenger", and wants his revenge against everyone who betrayed him, including Cena (who is part of Nexus, and is on a verge of getting fired). So, does this make any sense to anyone?

seriously is anyone fed up and bored by now with the whole "mysterious" wwe raw gm crap?,i mean come on TNA makes the ratings better than WWE does.WWE,lose the mysterious raw gm angle, its getting too old!

well isay iht is triple h because, look he really does not like John Cena iht may seem like iht but he doesnt the only person Triple H cares about in the WWE Company is HBK but hes gone & so here iht goes HHH is the real leader of Nexus & he wanted to take out the man thats always in his way for the WWE Championship John Cena & he finally did he got him fired & lets go back to HBK see he was retired by the Undertaker as you can see Nexus has aslo made Taker their 2nd target why might you ask cause he retired the best friend of the leader of Nexus, well thats what isay.

You're right Joey, it has to be HHH. I've looked all over Twitter for the mystery GM's account, and I couldn't find it. The only person associated with WWE without a Twitter account is Hunter.

Its the great khali

dave batista and is going to be reveiled at wm

8 months later.... do you still think this is a possibility. Do you even think anyone remembers him?

RESPONSE FROM KE: Nope.

I agree with mike. The Raw gm does only help the heels, which means he or she is most likely a heel like Mick Foley or (towards the end of his career) Batista. Think about it, Batista quit at about the same time the anonimous gm came in. I also think Mike Adamle is a possible candidate, after all he quit because he was forced to take sides. The mystery can be used as a second chance for him.

Stone Cold Steve Austin? No! The gm, whomever he or she may be, probably only used "give me a hell yeah" to draw attention away from himself or herself. Triple H? Possibly! Triple H is in his 40's that means his wrestling is coming to an unfortunate end, so to stay in the WWE he could have possibly accepted an anonimous gm position then reveal himself once his carrer ends.

It's batista

it has to be someone not in the business because he would just do matches for himself so he would get titles so mabey it could be theodore long too we will only know when the time comes
