Wade Barrett by a long shot.

To me, Wade Barrett has done a great job overall and he has among the best win/loss records on NXT. Beyond that, he already competed with the best: John Cena and Christian, and has Y2K to hold on to when he becomes a pro if needed. His wrestling ability is good and he's a big man which is a big plus for him. In addition, Barrett is good on the mic and is not afraid to speak his mind about anything.

I realize your poll choices reflect who is officially left, but NXT is more work than shoot. After his angle with Cole, which has more real buzz than anything else that has ever happened on NXT, Bryan won't be away for long, if at all. I'm not sure if that means he'll come back via NXT or some other way. Barrett is the clear favorite amongst those who officially remain.

i'm guessing that daniel bryan will be back. probably by having a match with the miz with the stipulation that if he wins, he'll be back on NXT. what are your thoughts kev? thanks!
RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't think he'll be back in the NXT competition, but he obviously will be sticking around in WWE.

Who's voting for anyone besides David Otunga? I'd love to see his cocky heel character be able to say "I'm the first, and last winner of NXT!"

Well, there are many reasons to vote for someone other than Otunga, but I'd say the biggest is this: He can't wrestle. People complain about Batista? Cena? Otunga makes them look like William Regal on his best day. The guy looks awful in the ring.

Anybody except Heath would be fine with me, but I am joining the herd and voting for Barrett.
Solid in-ring, and his pie-face of the annoying Darren Young two weeks ago-- "I want it more than you, than you, than you, than MMmff!!?"-- was a wonderful moment.

Justin Gabriel is the only one left who keeps my interest during a match. If I was a sports entertainment fan, sure, Otunga or Barrett. As a wrestling fan, however, it's Gabriel by a mile.

Barrett is so bland and boring. The guy has zero charisma. Gabriel looks too much like Adam Lambert, and that's a bad thing. Slater just seems like a douche and won't last. Otunga is the only one who has charisma. Sure, he probably just got there because he married a fat idol runner up, but he is the best one remaining.

Wade Barrett doesn't having any glaring weaknesses, but I still don't know how he can get over as anything more than an upper-mid card worker. The "tough guy from the UK" gimmick has been recycled in relatively recent history through the British Bulldog, Steven Regal, the whole British Invasion and Desmond Wolfe in TNA with slight variations for Finlay and Sheamus. It's not a bad angle, but it's a low risk/low reward angle- none of those guys ever became, as WWE says on NXT, "breakout stars."
For that reason, I do not hold it against anyone who voted for Barrett, but I opted for Otunga because I think he is the only one of the four that has the potential to be excellent. He has a long way to go (particularly his in ring skills, but his character will have to develop some sort of mean streak to keep getting heat), and a lower overall probability of success than Barrett, but his ceiling is much higher.

I voted for Barrett. Like you said, Gabriel has a pretty cool finishing move, but I haven't seen much else from him. Slater is way too bland. I think Otunga's non-wrestling performances have been vastly overrated, and it's no secret he is absolutely terrible in the ring. Like Punk said in the video package about him, he is an injury risk to both himself and his opponent.

Wade Barrett is a great heel, he's great on mic, he has presence both with his size and attitude, he's intelligent and has clearly worked hard and successfully to make his character work in NXT; I have him a clear winner. Do we have to endlessly talk about Daniel Bryan; give it a rest guys, he was no great shakes on NXT, let's stop pretending he is something he isn't, eh?

I agree with those who think Wade Barrett is the best of the group, but his finishing move is TERRIBLE. He has to come up with something better than that little slam he has been doing.

I voted for Barrett like most, but that's mostly based on who I think -right now- has the most to offer in-ring and on the mic.
I suspect that sometime in the coming weeks we'll be seeing a shaved-head Darren Young show up in the SES.
I did love the shoot-ish feel of the pros saying what it takes to make it in the WWE.

Talk About BARRETT!!!!!

Does Heath Slater even have a finishing move?
Posted by: loco | May 20, 2010 7:56 PM
i think wade barret will win nxt with otunga run up gabriel third and heath slater being the next one eliminated he is way to bland and boring. i think i am correct in stating that he has being developmental for a few years and has had many a dark match on raw or smackdown and still has not being called up to one of the brands

I don't understand why people say that Otunga has good mic skills.
He talks like he's reading from cue cards and can't "shift gears" -- he has the same tone every single time he speaks.
And his wrestling... well he is not just bad, he's horrible.

Yes. It's called the Small Package. :-)
