Injured Undertaker may miss Fatal Fourway; Randy Orton update

I had assumed that The Undertaker suffered either a bad nosebleed or at worst a broken nose during his match against Rey Mysterio on Smackdown Friday night, but apparently his injuries are much more serious, and his participation in one of the main events at the Fatal Fourway pay-per-view on June 20 is in jeopardy.

The Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone and a concussion in addition to a broken nose, according to wrestlingobserver.com. The website said that as of right now there is a 50-50 chance of Undertaker working the fourway match for the world heavyweight title at the show.

Obviously, you can’t have a fourway without four men, so if The Undertaker is unable to go, someone would have to take his place in the match that has champion Jack Swagger, The Big Show and CM Punk as the other competitors. I’m guessing the spot would go to someone such as Kane or Kofi Kingston. Mysterio could be a possibility as well, but he reportedly was planning to take a few weeks off.

In other injury news, Randy Orton, despite his recent shoulder injury, is advertised to wrestle in tonight's main event on Raw in a tag team match pitting Orton and John Cena against Edge and Sheamus. Those four are scheduled to wrestle in the the fouway WWE title match at the pay-per-view.

Happy Memorial Day to all reading!

If Taker can't go, I'm drawing a blank as to who should take his place, I know that a lot of people would like to see Kofi, but I would rather see the IC title be defended at the PPV. In fact, I think a Fatal 4-way for the IC Title between Kofi, McIntyre, Christian, and Ziggler could be a show-stealer.

I welcome all comments.

Isn't this the second injury in a three days that Mysterio has caused? Maybe someone should look into that.

I hope Randy is smart about his participation on Raw tonight. Being in a tag match will allow him to stay out of the action for most of it (which I predict will be the case). I'm guessing the match will mostly be a Cena-fights-off-the-heels match.

Shoulder dislocations are funny things...

The first time you dislocate your shoulder, there is a large amount of rotator damage and connective tissue tearing. Recovery from an initial shoulder dislocation can take weeks or months.

Once you've had that first injury though, the connective ligaments in your shoulder become more slack - making future dislocations much more probable. But it also means that future dislocations are less likely to cause tissue tearing - which is the part that takes longest to heal.

Presuming Orton didn't get much or any tissue damage and the humeral head simply fell out of the socket, a couple of weeks could be plenty of time for him to recover and a month would be reasonable for him to start working a full match again.

I just hope he has someone advising him well on shoulder rehab. Once the ligaments of the shoulder become weakened or slack, they never fully return and you have to depend more on well developed shoulder muscles to hold the arm in place.

@ Rick: That 4-way IC Title match would be a great match!!! I just hate the way the WWE is using Christian right now. Yes, he was the ECW Champion but that has about as much pull as the TV Title had in WCW.

Also, if Undertaker can't go, somebody like MVP could get thrown in since he is already feuding with the SES.

I am beginning to have trouble keeping track of all the recent injuries, which is troubling.

Please, guys, for yourselves, your families, and the fans who love you... be safe.

and hey, while I'm talking to people who aren't reading: Vince, for christ's sake SLOW DOWN THE WORK SCHEDULE. Look what you're doing to these people!!!

I bet Undertaker wrestles. He's the Undertaker.. maybe others might sit out but I can't see him sitting out. Especially with 3 other guys in the match he won't get hit as much so they can hide it more.

My wife flinched as soon as she saw that spot on Smackdown on Friday night; she immediately called the broken nose

My guess is Undertaker stays in the mix; he wrestled after getting set on fire, so I don't see this stopping the Dead man :-)

Randy didnt make the main event of RAW. It turned out that Cena picked Evan Bourne as his replacement.

Evan Bourne then proceeded to get the pin on Sheamus.

Could Evan Bourne be a surprise replacement for Randy in the fatal 4 way??? And what did he do all of a sudden to get such a push just a few weeks after jobbing to Sheamus on Raw?!?!?!?!

i hope john cena is not a quitter he never back down from any challenge put in frot of him .cena is th

"And what did he do all of a sudden to get such a push just a few weeks after jobbing to Sheamus on Raw?!?!?!?!"

It's called being a team player and a company guy, and it seems more recently than in the past that guys get rewarded for hanging tight and maybe doing a few extra jobs to help get someone over and further a mostly unrelated to them, storyline for the sake of the show. Also, it is still on Evan Bourne or any other performer to make the "beating" they're taking look good and sell it believably. Bourne does, Morrison does, MVP, even Miz- obviously Jericho and Edge, Cena sells a little hard but he's Cena so I expect animated.

P.S. Rick's F4T4L 4-way IC-CHampionsip matcxh would be electrifying... could be all-time with a ladder and if Morrison could go, he is more dynamic than McIntyre, although then you'd have 3 faces and Ziggler.

I dont have the channel to Smackdown but that is a bad deal for the Deadman. That is a serious injury and could it be career threatning. Rey Mysterio should definitely get the vacant spot. However talk about being used wrongly...Kane is starting to fade away and needs some quality matches. Hasnt he paid his dues?

i just found out on smacdkwon like 45mins ago about undertaker and i thought he died hell if undertaker cant compete in the 4way for the heavyweight championship it should be his brother kane that should take his place if undertaker cant compete.

Personally, I would like to see McIntyre get the pass into the Fatal Four Way for the World Championship. He obviously is going to be groomed as the WWE's successor to Triple H and I think this would be a good match for him to pick up his first World Title.

Undertaker is the best and the only man that can beat anything and I know in my heart he is going to be all right and he will return to smackdown. So no body out there give up on him cause he will be back. DONE BLINK you will miss it.

announcers on smackdown said undertaker was found in a vegitative state.sounds like a serious head injury to me.full recovery sounds doubtful especially considering he's moving on up in age.this website doesn't seem to have any real recent updates and thats a shame.anyway rey mysterio is taking undertakers place but it would have been more fitting if cane had won.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Take a deep breath. The vegetative state business is just a story line.

undertaker been at it a long time maybe its time for him to chill even though he is one of the last of the great ones and my personal favorite

What is an orbital bone? I used to be a pro wrestler and never heard of such a bone. Anyway I think it will take a lot more than that to keep Undertaker down.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Definition of orbital bone: It's the cavity or socket of the skull in which the eye and its appendages are situated.

please someone tell me what has happened to the undertaker is it for real or just a ploy for better ratings? kane sais last night on smackdown he found his brother in a bad state and there will be no more undertaker

THE UNDERETAKER IS A VERY STRONG MAN. HE WILL NOT LET ANYTHING STOP HIM FROM WRESTLING. AS FOR ANYONE THAT TRIES TO HURT THE UNDERTAKER HIS BROTHER CAIN WILL GET REVENGE. I AM A VERY BIG FAN OF THE UNDEERTAKER. ANYBODY THAT HURTS HIM WILL BURN IN HELL. I HOPE THAT THE UNDERTAKER DOES MAKE A COME BACK BECAUSE HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.
