WWE announces Smackdown’s move to SyFy, NXT’s departure from channel

WWE made it official that Smackdown will move from MyNetwork TV to SyFy beginning Oct. 1, and also announced that NXT will no longer be on the SyFy.

Smackdown will continue to air in its usual Friday time slot between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. once the move goes into effect.

As for NXT, WWE is looking into finding a new home for the show. According to pwinsider.com, WWE has entered into preliminary talks with Bravo. That channel is under the NBC Universal umbrella, which also includes SyFy and USA Network, the home for Raw.

I don't care what station its on, I just wish SD! could go back to being on THU nights instead of FRI.

I think WWE's pleased with Fridays for Smackdown. Thursdays are just way too crowded for TV and putting Smackdown on basic cable in primetime against stuff like Survivor, CSI, Bones, and Grey's Anatomy can't be very appealing.

thats bull they should put nxt on the cw or nbc or even my network

A bummer for me -- no more wrestling on broadcast TV except for RAW on Spanish-language stations. I hope WWE considers running "tape-delayed" shows -- say, the previous week's RAW/Smackdown -- in syndication.

wonder how that will affect us Canadians. We get it on the Score channel and don't have syfy on our satellites. Hopefully Score picks it up. Why wouldn't wwe keep NXT on syfy with Smackdown.

I agree with Elevation as well, Thursday night was better.

wwe needs something on a non cable network.

ditto on thursday nites

well here we go again. Last time I lost Smackdown(statewide at first due to KY's MyNetTv not actually working right) and my College's cable doesn't carry MyNetTv or WGN so I don't see superstars. And now were swapping SD! for NXT due to the college not carrying Bravo. Just hope when WWE makes it's own network we are able to pick that one up cause otherwise WWE is gone period.

We know that SciFi or SyFfy channel really enjoys the cheesy crap movies they put out, but come on with the move of Smackdown they have just killed their Friday nights.

I wonder what is going to happen to Doctor Who and SG-U, just to name two shows that run in those time slots?

I agree Thursday night Smackdown would be great. TNA could have stayed in it's time slot and we could have had Thursday night wars.

I'm not sure how viable NXT is as an ongoing series. Once we determine the NXT Breakout Star, is WWE planning to introduce us to eight brand new competitors the following week?

If it is picked up for Bravo or another cable station, I would hope that they could air it more like they do every reality contest show on cable TV: give it a set time/date for its new episodes, re-run the crap out of it during the week until the next episode airs, and then replace it altogether with a different program between seasons.

What about us low income people who can't aford a lot of cable channels. Now that smakdown will be on cable instead of local tv you are going to loose a lot of viewers. I'm very disapointed and you can take nxt off for good. I don't think any one would miss it.

This will kill Smackdown. When will the WWE get it SYFY does not have the fans like USA does. WCW went to SYFY killed by lack of ratings, NXT same thing.

Heather, look up your history. WCW was NEVER on SyFy. SyFy wasnt around. ECW was. But was crap.

You Don't Have the Power to switch Smackdown to Thursday It Said Clearly it will Continue but it Will Be on Fridays even iff you Say it's Better to be on Thursday because it's not I wish the samething for Smackdown to be on Thursday but aprently their Aiming it to be under a New Channel The Season Fanile of WWE NXT will be on tuesday September 27 10:00-11:00 don't Miss it this is the Last you will be seeing them on the SyFy Channel

Ok, if they moved it to thursday, u can tell McMahon is really trying to shove TNA out... then TNA would have to look for a new place (ik there not the same channels) or time because TNA tried to out beat RAW, and badly lost... so if Smackdown did go to thursdays (somehow), TNA would be screwed, and if TNA was smart, thed consider a different channel as well... and move to a different day, like wendsdays (there is no wrestling at all that day) or fridays.

I dont like that fact u moved Smackdown to SyFi or whatever its called my family cant afford to have cable or anything like dish or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS NOT FAIR i have been watching it since i was 3yrs old and now i cant watch!!!!!!!!!!
