Photo galleries of WWE Divas, old-school Baltimore wrestling

In an effort to increase traffic on baltimoresun.com, the powers that be here at The Sun have decided that, based on the overwhelming success of Ring Posts, a sure-fire way to do that is to give pro wrestling more of a presence.

To that end, two wrestling photo galleries are currently up on the site.

To view some old-school wrestling photos from Baltimore shows in the 1980s, click here.

Any photos of old-school Divas wrestling? It would tie-in nicely to your excellent observation on Monday's Baywatch Babes match (regarding the similar ring attire).

YES!! THE HEEL TURN CONTINUES !!

P.S - Congrats on the traffic :)

so first the heel turn, then the alignment with the corporation?

My guess is that the former gallery will get just a little more traffic than the latter.

Glad your blog is a success Kevin. I certainly enjoy it. Keep up the good work!

I wonder which gallery gets more hits... lol

No doubt that some of the photos were from the 70's

I am blessed to have been at most if not all of the shows from 72 until 79.

I was a huge Ric McGraw fan, thats why I know some of the photos are from the 70's. Pretty Boy Larry Sharpe Allllways put on a great show and could really get the fans going. He was the ultimate heel.

RESPONSE FROM KE: The photos with McGraw, Sharpe, Patera, Morales, etc. are from a Nov. 1980 show.

Hurricane Mitchell looks like my accountant!

Hurricane Mitchell is my tax Agent! I saw him drinking some Orange soda in his office today!

I looked at the Divas gallery purely to help build your page views, Eck, honest.

I think Russo is now booking the blog.

Kev--thanks for that picture of Eve on the front page of the blog...WOW!!

Kev, I don't know if you have any control over this, but according to that gallery the diva's name is just "Kelly."

I luv Maria

Just curious about the March '85 photos of Slaughter, Backlund and Flair. Were they all in the WWF at that point? I thought the Sarge had left before this date for the AWA.

RESPONSE FROM KE: That was on a show called Pro Wrestling USA, which combined several promotions -- AWA, NWA and I believe others in an effort to combat WWE's attempted takeover ofthe wrestling world. Slaughter had just left WWE and I think he was about to sugn with AWA.

Agree with the older photos from Baltimore. Those are good for the site. The divas on the other hand is a waste of time. People can go to WWE and get hundreds of those with one stop shopping.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I hear what you're saying, but the Divas gallery has blown away the old wrestling photos in traffic

Do want more Gail Kim + Maryse pics. MMmmm mmmm good ol' Canadian girls!

Old school is cool but that picture of Eve should do the job!

Congratulations to you Kevin and congrats to the Baltimore Sun for giving us seventeen beautiful photos to drool over ... of course Gail Kim was included which made my day. Any chance we will see you in a group shot with the Divas?

RESPONSE FROM KE: I have a few shots with some divas and knockouts. I have met just about every major star (and some not so major ones) over the years 15 years or so, but I have only gotten two autographs (Flair, The Rock) and rarely gotten a photo. I never wanted to come off like too much of a mark. However, I have made exceptions for the women (I'm not stupid). Unfortunately, when I interviewed Gail Kim in Orlando two years ago, I did not have a camera with me. She did sit next to me and our elbows touched if that means anything.

It all started with the dye job. Now the turn is complete.

Corporate Kev.

In the interest of fair reporting and unbiased journalism (and lower royalty fees also perhaps?), don't forget to also add a TNA Knockouts photo gallery.

RESPONSE FROM KE: The only reason we have the WWE Divas gallery is because The Sun and WGN are both owned by The Tribune Company. The photos belong to WGN but since we share content, we are allowed to use them. It has nothing to do with WWE.

I spent four hours with Ms. Kim on a photo shoot and she interacted with me a lot. She hugged me at the end of that time and again when I saw her the next year at Lockdown ... does that mean anything? Thanks. :)

RESPONSE FROM KE: Wow, that blows away my elbow story, now doesn't it? I've actually spoken with Gail a few times (we are mutual friends of Stacy Keibler's) and she is very nice.

BTW, are you a photgrapher? who do you shoot for?

I'm going to scan some of my photos and email them to you. Any reason why the old photos are Black and White?

RESPONSE FROM KE: Newspapers didn't shoot color back in the 1980s.

No .. I took photos for Gail's Meet and Greet in Ct. for her official website where I am one of the Moderators. I asked her permission, she said yes, and I took them. I have a lot of photos of Gail over the years when I have been able to see her in the ring, and at meet and greets. Thanks for asking.
