Notes: WWE releases Mike Knox; D’Angelo Dinero injured
Mike Knox joined the list of WWE talent that the company has released. The announcement was made late Thursday night on wwe.com.
Surprisingly, Knox never received a sustained push in WWE despite his size (he is listed at 6 feet 6 and 293 pounds), unique mountain man look and ability to move well in the ring for a big man. His sub-par promos held him back to some extent, but I thought his understated voice and promo style actually worked perfectly when he started playing a mad scientist-type character.

TNA’s D’Angelo Dinero reportedly suffered a separated shoulder and torn ligaments during his match against TNA world champion A.J. Styles at the Lockdown pay-per-view last Sunday. According to pwinsider.com, there is a chance that Dinero could be back in action by the Sacrifice pay-per-view on May 16.

Kevin, are all these releases designed to make room for fresh new talent from NXT and Florida Championship Wrestling, or is WWE just cutting payroll to increase profits like most large businesses across our nation?
RESPONSE FROM KE: WWE likens to freshen up the mid-card from time to time.

The sad part about Mike Knox getting released is that one of his best WWE matches was the WrestleMania XXVI battle royal, where he really went on a roll and got the crowd to take notice of him before he was eliminated in the final five guys. He truly showed potential to breakout beyond his enhancement talent position on the cards.

Considering Knox hasn't won a match in over a year (literally a year) That's not surprising.
People I'd also think are on the chopping block are:
The Colons, Chavo, Chris Masters, Curt Hawkings (who?) and Teddy Long.

NOOOOO! Mike Knox was my hard luck favorite to get a big push this year.

I agree. Mike Knox's soft voice while explaining how to break bones and cause intense pain came off very nicely. I was surprised to hear of his release along with Mickie James and Shelton Benjamin.

It's unfortunate that Knox was released. For a long while, I didn't see much in him, but I warmed up to him when he started doing the deranged intellectual thing.

To me, Knox is the most disappointing release. He has a huge upside. You're right about his mad-scientist character. His little feud with Mysterio was great.
My problem is that "everyone" is talking about the cast-offs going to TNA. They seem to be able to sign practically anyone they want. OK, the money's there. The roster room isn't. If they plan to keep signing ex-WWE guys (and gals), they really need a brand split. There are people on the TNA roster that I feel a lot people would be surprised to see are still employed by the company.

Do you think that the lack of a push for Knox had anything to do with the discovery of drugs in an old house of his about a year ago? Before then he had been in the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber at No Way Out 2009, but since then his character went sideways.
