Nasty Boys released by TNA

Brian Knobs and Jerry Sags are headed back to Nastyville.

The Nasty Boys have been let go by TNA, according to a report on pwinsider.com that cited TNA sources. Rumors had been circulating the past few days that they were gone, but this is the first confirmation from a credible source.

Knobs and Sags are still on the roster on TNA’s Web site, although Consequences Creed, who confirmed earlier this week that he had been released by the company, remains on the site as well.

The Nasty Boys, who debuted on the three-hour Impact show on Jan. 4 that kicked off the Hulk Hogan-Eric Bischoff Era, were reportedly working on a 90-day contract, which TNA opted not to extend.

Knobs and Sags proved to be a washed-up act that was just taking up space. Knobs, in particular, had no business being in the ring. He was so out of shape that he got winded cutting a promo.

It came as a shock to no one when The Nasty Boys – two of Hogan’s cronies – showed up in TNA after Hogan gained power. It’s a positive sign that he was not able to save their jobs when it was so obvious that they weren’t over.

Speaking of Hogan’s hangers-on, hopefully TNA isn’t finished trimming the fat from its roster.

Who?

I wonder what the Dudley will do now..I suppose they will turn heel this week then and next week we will all forget about it when they are attacked by the Band...oooohh

The news of their release is not nearly as shocking as what you will be reporting on after watching Smackdown this Friday...

I think TNA is getting better on a more consistent basis. It's shame that many fans seem to have given up after Impact was so inconsistent for the first couple months of their "new era."

The cutting of The Nasty Boys was obviously something they needed to do and it is a positive sign for the company. Now the roster cut that needs to be made most is clearly Chubba. However, even he has been used relatively well in the last couple of weeks, getting a huge pop for Foley when Foley clocked him two weeks ago and getting some much-needed heat for The Band during their segment this week (although it was mostly the wrong kind of heat, which is also fittingly known as "X-Pac heat").

I'm betting Bubba the Love Sponge tops the list of guys you want to be released from TNA.

The free agent market for plummers just heated up!

Just when I was counting on The Nasty Boys to fill the (temporary) void left by HBK's (semi) retirement, they go and get fired. I'm done with wrestling, man, my heart just can't take this.

Good move but TNA is having real troubles right now. NO way to spin it, the ratings have been horrible

Chubba should slap you for that last comment.

Hall, Pac, and BTLS are next!

I say its all an elaborate april fools joke.
O and happy birthday RKO!!!

Well since tna moved to monday nights which is usually my monday night raw night i havnt watched tna cause monday night raw was there first....why cant u move it back to thursdays or saturdays were kids are able to watch it cause they dont have school and can stau up lata i love tna but wont sacrafice my other wresteling shows sorry so please put it in a thursdau sunday tuesday saturdays so i can watch it again..

The Nasty Boys are gone...guess we'll have to make do with Beer Money, Inc.

Huge loss for the company. May be the reason they move back to Thursday nights.

Spot on Kev!
And just a reminder, don't miss tonight's episode of Smackdwon. Compare your thoughts to other Eck posters.

Hulk Hogans time is over. Ric Flair is sagging everywhere. Nobody cares about old, fat ass Scott Hall or drug addict Sean Waltman. Why in the hell is Bubba Sponge in TNA for? Hogan is using TNA to give all his washed up, geriatric buddies a job. Thank goodness the Nasties are gone. Instead of watching Daniels, Samoa Joe, Wolfe, Alissa Flash, the tv time is taken up by washed up sorry sixty year old men who are too lame to walk away. Dixie you [screwed] up a good thing by bringing Hogan in. Undue it and fire Hogan and his tired, wasted boys.

Wow, I can only wonder what the so-called IWC would have been like back in the early cable days when the territories were still going. Can you seriously imagine Kev the comments you would have gotten then after one of the many lame shows that were abundant back then. Say what you will but wresting has always stuck to the old change your underwear model, throw it up against the wall and if it sticks? The only difference between that and the underwear theory is if it sticks in wrestling you keep it and of course visa-versa. It doesn't take a genius to know that the NBoys.Bubba,Hall et-all are taking up space (no pun intended), but look at the flip side, Hogan & Bischoff throw their cronies out there for a bit, feel out the talent (ability, mike skills, adversity & loyalty) take the heat and then start to weed them out. So Hogan lost a bet,so what- Vince isn't exactly friggin Prince Charming, c'mon Bertha,"the hand birth"Shockmaster, it goes on and on to this day (can Kev say Shameus). How does TNA get held up to a higher standing than the man the owns and practically destroyed wrestling? Look how low he has gone, bringing back Hitman, Raw's celebrity hosts, and don't get me started on the Diva division (x-woman's division). The guy has Moolah as champ for like a hundred years, bones Richter who helps bring him back to relevance over paying her a fair wage after they blow up with the MTV show it goes on and on. Imagine the posts after an AWA Crusher Blackwell victory, or better yet any Greg Gagne matches. Or what about Texas. World Class would have filled up encyclopedia volumes with the Von Erich's. My point is let it ride a bit, don't clam up, but how about fair & balanced(you know like your friends @ FOX). Cripes every week of TNA is death or near death, but with WWE it's an "off" show. The most unbelievable angle would be for all of this to be a work, Hogan can't go, so what if he get's run out(what if he was a temporary fill?) then Bischoff, I'm not saying any of TNA management has the cohunes or brains to have something like this up their sleeve but think about it. Make it all a work, Hogan's buds first, then Bischoff's, then Hogan himself, and with a smiling Cheshire cat like Bischoff thinking and acting like he has "it all" he becomes the next dog sent to the shelter. In between they build up every one else and let things role, throw in Foley.and some others and they could really have done something shocking and likely profitable. Leave them in the back, bring them out every now and again then walla you have a true "new" wresting threat-Vince is shocked into his normal over reacting and TNA steals the show (so to speak). This is just one of many possible angles that "could well be in the works", the what if's are infinite. Not saying it's true but what if? Oh and by the way if either if these companies wish to pay for my services they can reach me via email and $'s. Yeah Kev I know soon I'll have to wake up but "What if"?

Wasn't it nice of TNA to let the Nasty Boys leave with a victory over Team 3D and Runt? Oh wait, that was a bad idea wasn't it?

Kevin, go ahead and award yourself comment of the month with "he was so out of shape he got winded cutting a promo." Awesome...kong.
Now we can only hope that Chubba is next on the chopping block. I'm not holding my breath on that one. It seems from all I'm reading that the Nasty Geezers may have done more to damage their standing with their antics outside the ring than with their pitiful in-ring performances, to the point that Hogan couldn't even put his neck on the line for them.
It might take a few more Haiti-type statments from Chubba to get him the ax. Unless, of course, Dixie Carter takes time to read blogs like this one and cares more than Hogan what TNA fans think.
So long Consequences Creed. My most vivid memory will be of TNA showing Creed puking in the ring during a match...a pre-recorded match.

I'd never ask you to substantiate rumors, but some sites are saying their firing was due to inappropriate behavior at a formal, Spike TV function. Apparently Knobbs and Sags must have overloaded on chili before showing up.

So let me see, it's bad to have the Nasty Boys, Rick Flair and other 'aging' vets in the ring, but it's okay to have Bret Hart in the ring? There is very little "wrestling' going on in WWE land, at least at TNA you see blood, and a bit of mayham, something that is closer to wrestling then the boys from the WWE are presenting right now.

Unfortunately, the damage is done. The whole "Hulk Hogan is coming to TNA!!!" thing was a coup for TNA, and the company absolutely needed to put its best foot forward. They had a maybe two-week window, when Hogan in TNA was still a new idea, to transform all those curious viewers into TNA fans.

That's when having the Nasty Boys on the card did real damage. Cutting them now is the right decision, but it's too little, too late. That particular damage was already done.

On a separate note, Kevin: You don't consider The Sun to be credible?

Pleezzzzzz Dixie - fire Bishoff too.....Christ, he make me want to puke every time I hear him....he adds nothing to the wrestling shows.....only makes me want to turn the channel......what moron writes the TNA storylines?....maybe you should get the guy who writes Days of Our Lives....then maybe Bishoff and Double J can do some love scenes....maybe I won't puke as much

As a fan of the nasty boys since there awa heyday I thought it might be fun seeing them back in the ring... Boy was I WRONG. Brian Knobbs makes Scott Hall look like Ricky Steamboat. Skaggs was not too bad but he had to carry a majority of the workload since Knobbs could do only do 4 things punch, kick, stomp and look fat.

why you guys all busting on the nasty boys???!! At least they were entertaining and that is what wrestling is all about...this isnt UFC!!! its wrestling entertainment!!!! I say get rid of that waste Abyss now that guy is a complete joke and not entertaining at all!!!!!...Eugene anyone?!!?!
