Daniels released by TNA
Christopher Daniels has been released by TNA, wrestlingobserver.com confirmed. Daniels appeared on Ring of Honor’s Big Bang Internet pay-per-view Saturday night and will now be a regular there.
It was obvious that the Hulk Hogan-Eric Bischoff regime had no role for Daniels. He went from wrestling for the TNA world title in the main event on pay-per-view before Hogan and Bischoff took over to jobbing to Sean Morley (formerly Val Venis) and doing a one-minute job to Kurt Angle.
Daniels had been with TNA since its inception in 2002 and was a favorite of the company’s hardcore fans. I though he did some of the best work of his career on the microphone and in the ring during his title program with Styles at the end of 2009.
TNA’s loss is definitely ROH’s gain. Daniels will help to offset the void in ROH created by the departure of Nigel McGuinness (Desmond Wolfe) and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) last fall

Great news for WRESTLING (vs sports entertainment) fans. Now I'm even more jacked for the May 7th Manasass VA show.
With the downward spiral of TNA, I'm sure it will just be a matter of time before we get AJ Styles, Motor City Machine Guns, Homicide, and any other legendary ROH stars back.

Any chance this is an elaborate work and really an undercover talent exchange?

Hogan and Bischoff need to wake up and for once admit they don't know everything. No matter how much they try to convince us that Orlando Jordan is a big star, he is not. Meanwhile wrestlers such as Daniels who is clearly popular and can make TNA a real competitor is forced out.
TNA has a bloated roster and needs to make it smaller but they should have tried as hard as possible to keep Daniels, I think many people will agree that he was one of their best talents by far. I expect more talent to be following him out the door instead of taking part on the car crash that TNA is soon becoming with Hogan behind the wheel.

Shocking, my jaw is still dropped down to the ground. I can't believe it. I agree with you, I enjoyed his work very much, and he was definitely one of the better workers.
TNA keeps digging it's own grave.

WHAT?!? Wow...how can they "have nothing" for a guy this talented? I can forsee a big backlash from long-time TNA fans over this.

I guess it was a false dawn when The Nasty Boys were released that more of Hogan's cronies would soon follow. Even at nearly 40, Daniels is still one of the best in-ring performers out there, whereas guys like Hogan, Hall and Nash can barely walk to the ring. I for one look forward to seeing Daniels in ROH again. . . and not to the next "Bubba" segment someone in TNA (Hogan) seems to think equals ratings.

stupid, stupid, stupid to let this talented wrestler go.
Daniels was a TNA fan favorite for a reason... because he's awesome.

That's right brother! We are here to turn this company around, brother. No more dead weight around here...Kurt Angle and AJ Styles better watch out too brother and earn their spot, brother! We're here to show Dixie how a wrestling company should be run, brother!

Wow. He is one of my all time fav wrestlers and I can't believe TNA would let him go. This company just keeps circling the drain...

I wonder how long it's going to take Dixie Carter to wake up and realize that Hogan/Bischoff/Russo/Bubba are recreating the death of WCW in TNA.
Just as WCW buried it's true stars like Guerrero, Jericho, Benoit, etc, in the lower and mid-cards, TNA is burying it's X-Division, which was the best thing it had going. Hogan and Bischoff referred to those guys as "midgets" in WCW and said they would never generate enough heat to headline cards.
Obviously, they still have the same warped mindset.
Wake up, Dixie! Losing Christopher Daniels negates everything positive Hogan may have brought with him to TNA.
Dropping Daniels and keeping Chubba? You've got to be friggin' kidding me! Stupid.

This is terrible, Daniles was one of the reasons I got into TNA, and how he's been buried over the past months is a travesty. Hopefully he gets a solid push in ROH!

Let's not pretend Daniels was being treated awesome before the new regime, prior to his run & program against Styles he spent a long time pretending to be a masked wrestler from Japan that liked to dance. The chances of Daniels finding quality pushes among Styles, Sting, Angle, Anderson, Wolfe, a returning Samoa Joe and what is apparently a re-birth of Abyss were very slim. Those of us with HDNet will benefit from this. Daniels is perfect for ROH.

I caught onto TNA a little after Daniels was "fired" in TNA and he emerged as Curry Man. So I don't have an invested interest from before that point. However, I did like the Curry Man character as it was fun and entertaining at times. Otherwise, I was never really into his character once he returned as himself. He's a good wrestler, but I was just not into his Daniels character. I'm not going to miss him.

Through 2009, I grew to like TNA a lot more than I used to. I might even consider myself a hardcore TNA fan. Daniels was a major reason why. I consider him, AJ, and Joe the core of what I liked about TNA. The Hogan era hasn't been all bad, but Daniels is a big loss IMO.

Congratulations to Christopher Daniels. I hope he finds success in ROH, and more importantly, I hope he feels satisfied working there.
I think I'm ready for the Machine Guns and Homicide to break off and go elsewhere. Then TNA can go ahead and slowly fade away, although I'll feel sorry for Wolfe and AJ Styles, whom the WWE wronged.

I was mystified by the releases of Sonjay Dutt and Petey Williams last year, and i feel the same about this move.
All three guys were superb workers in the X-division and whilst they didn't have great charisma or mic skills, they more than made up for it in the ring.
Terrible, terrible decision.

I'm really starting to dislike TNA even more now
Posted by: LeonLeon | April 5, 2010 6:53 PM
Wow...another reason to dislike what Hogan's doing in TNA, and another reason not to watch it anymore. I will check out ROH online for their matches instead.

Would somebody please explain to me how somebody as closed-minded and moronic as Hogan was ever perceived as being able to evaluate talent worth a damn? Please?
Seriously, if Hogan had been running the WWF in the '90s he probably would have buried Shawn Michaels for being too small and pushed Henry Godwinn for being a big guy and therefore having "the look".

I'm startin to believe my DVR is better off recording Deal or No Deal reRuns than TNA

From what I heard, Daniels asked for his release, so I don't really blame TNA for granting him his release. By the way Kevin, any chance you'll be recapping ROH shows anytime soon?
RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't doubt that he asked for it. Who could blame him? It was obvious that the new powers that be didn't think much of him.

He had to job to Sean Morley. I'd quit too.

Wouldn't be hilarious to find out that Hogan, Bischoff, and Russo all still work for WWE and this is Vince's plan to buy TNA out too? It's so crazy, that it might actually be true.

Dixie, Dixie, Dixie....Hogan/Bischoff have no where to go...they have no leverage ..bring those guys in fine..but do it like how WWE did..YOU control them and not the other way around ..Daniels IS TNA ..pretty soon it will be Samoa Joe & A J Styles & Kurt Angle ..and y'know what the WWE will be making a dvd .."The Fall of TNA " and chapter 1 has already been written...WWE lost Shawn blanking Michaels ...don't you think they can find/steal his replacement soon enough from your roster? In bizarro world you get rid of the young or established stars for retreads - its like going to the auto store and have them put on used tires instead of new ones - thats where you are headed...control Hogan - Bischoff immediately your group tells THEM what to do - the TNA fans have spoken - loud and clear - we are the ones who watch the show and buy the dvd's and tickets, why make us mad ? Its crazy

Daniel's was one of the most consistently entertaining performers I'd seen lately. His matches during his latest TNA run were consistently among my favorites. His mike work had also been quite good of late I thought. This shines a very poor light on TNA that they could not find a role for an established somewhat iconic guy like that.

I don't see why people are acting like this is a shock. If Daniels was so great then why didn't he make more of a mark during his previous oppurtunities? He's a great performer but he doesn't grab the attention of the fans long enough to be a major player in the TNA main event scene.

Should have remained Curry Man! I never saw anything special in Christopher Daniels, great wrestler(in the Evan Bourne way) personally I thought when he's main eventing a PPV for the Title, it cheapened the show. He's a solid mid-card talent, nothing more.

Daniels has signed with WFX in Winnipeg, MB. Details on www.wfxwrestling.com, you can watch the second episode online as well.
Seeing as how WFX is taped in Winnipeg, I'm extremely excited to see Daniels live and in person!

Ouch, it wasn't bad enough when TNA buried him and made him do the "Curry Man" act but now this? Whose cheerios did he p--- in? Daniels had the potential if used right to be a Benoit type of guy,if given enough of a chance he may have even proved himself much more worthy than that by enhancing his mic skills but now this. I'm going to float this idea out there, how about TNA & ROH start an in tandem invasion type angle? They could trade talent (like the old territory days) and possibly maximize both companies chances at making a dent in the "Real New World Order" run by VKM. If done correctly this could really take off, they could cover more ground while spending less money, and hold on now,let their tope guys have time off so they don't end up like the last 30 years worth of wrestlers that couldn't make the stage without insane amounts of pain killers. Play the Hogan/Bischoff aristocracy angle all the while building up huge feuds between the trading fed wrestlers. I know it makes too much sense for the folks in charge to actually do something smart for the business in tandem and not be able to bask in their humongous arrogant self absorption. But if they were smart it would end up making them the smartest and over time even their own self absorbed opinions of themselves might surpass fantasy with reality. Yeah I know Kev it's time to wake up and go to work now,the dream is over but what if some variation of this were tried? ROH is killing one quarter, then TNA the next all the while leaving Vince to wallow in his own insane self absorbed masturbatory opinion of his Fed. I'm telling you smarter insiders than me could easily make this happen, the time is coming, Vince is aging,Shane hit the road and Steph is so tied up with her Hollywood writing crowd that they are ripe for the picking. Problem is these other (I'll borrow from Y2J) a**clowns heads are so far up their a**es they wouldn't think for a second that anyone other than themselves deserves, knows or has the talent (code for under 275lbs) to make it work. Oh the indignity of being so right and knowing it's so wrong. The one thing that surprisingly shocks me is that Hogan, through all of the ridicule(public & private/public) hasn't started to figure this out, you know he had his chance to be a stand alone guy when he stood up (however briefly) to Vince during the 80's steroid trials, but sadly his greed got the better of his conscience and though he certainly was well paid that deal with the devil is coming back to haunt him to this day. Divorce, his kids problems and mistakes all played out on the largest stage, the seed doesn't fall far from the tree, and when he had his chance to be a tree he collapsed with elm disease.

"Dixie, Dixie, Dixie....Hogan/Bischoff have no where to go...they have no leverage ..bring those guys in fine..but do it like how WWE did..YOU control them and not the other way around"
That would have been the smartest thing, yes. I thought that's what they were going to do. I thought Hogan and Bischoff would just be employees of TNA without being allowed to influence storylines or book matches. Or, to put it another way: I thought that Hogan and Bischoff would be "cast members."
Whoever decided to make them more than that, to give them so much control, the recent consequences are on that person's head.

Totally agree!! Most of the posts on this page make complete sense and I really can't undertsand how Dixie Carter & Co can have Nash and Pac on the show, but let Daniels, Creed and previously Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt go. Makes absolutely no sense.
