Could flight situation in Europe affect WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view?
The latest news on the WWE Raw crew being stranded in Belfast isn't good.
The word is that the ban on air travel from the United Kingdom due to the Icelandic volcano will likely be in effect until mid-week, which means that not only will the Raw talent not make it back in time for the Monday's live Raw show in New Jersey, but they'll likely miss the Smackdown taping Tuesday night in Connecticut (if that was ever under consideration).
At this rate, WWE officials probably need look into the possibility of getting the crew to an area in which air travel is not restricted to ensure that the crew makes it back to the U.S. in time for next's Sunday's Extreme Rules pay-per-view in at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore.

So what do we do for Raw and Smackdown this week? Will they do the shows in Europe?

Unless they can pack everything into some ships and sail it, or get it to Portugal, it's not looking to bad for the PPV

thank goodness wwe has this blog so you can recommend they start looking into getting their superstars back to the U.S for the ppv. I bet they forgot all about that!!!
RESPONSE FROM KE: Well aren't you clever. My point was that they start thinking about trying to get out of the UK now and to an area in which air travel is not restricted (countries south of the UK). Otherwise, they are taking a risk. What if the belief that flights from the UK will resume by mid-week turn out to be wrong? Then we're getting to the end of the week and WWE will be cutting it close for Sunday's show.

If the Raw crew won't make it back in time for Monday's show, they should shoot an angle in which they start a brawl in the Belfast airport! If they can't get another arena in Ireland for Raw's show, they could make a great storyline out of this.
I'm sure Impact will acknowledge this in some lame Vince Russo type way.

I hope they are back in time for the PPV. I will be in Baltimore for that show and the RAW in Richmond. It would be a crazy draft if they had only Smackdown stars in the building.

I hope the Raw crew gets back in time to at least get a couple of days rest b4 ppv this Sun. Maybe finally Zach Ryder will main event Raw tonight.

Airspace in Northern Ireland will open on Tuesday according to the latest details, so the PPV shouldn't be a problem but Smackdown will.

Rob -
That would be very hypocritical of TNA considering they just stripped Douglas Williams of the X-Division Title. Williams is stuck in Europe for the exact same reason.

It's a shame there isn't a big cruise ship, perhaps with a rudder that's too small, for them to charter.

Hey Kev this is the latest that I have heard. According to many sites the Smackdown talent will take over for the Raw show. My question then is what happens to this weeks Smackdown, does Raw just do a flip-flop with Smackdown?

How about giving some new talent the chance to hit center-stage while the old guys are stranded in Europe? It would sure be refreshing. I bet there are plenty of indy wrestlers out there itching to give it a go. Divas too...
