‘Big Brother’ star Jessie Godderz enters the ring

When you’re in the blogging business, sometimes you have to sell your soul in the name of generating traffic. This is one of those times.

It was brought to my attention today that Jessie Godderz of “Big Brother” fame is dabbling in pro wrestling.

Godderz, who is known as “Mr. Pec-tacular,” made his pro wrestling debut two weeks ago for the Winnipeg, Manitoba-based WFX (Wrestling Fan Xperience) promotion by defeating U-Gene Dinsmore (formerly Eugene in WWE). Godderz announced on his Web site that he will face Dinsmore in a rematch in Winnipeg on April 16, and the special guest referee will be another former “Big Brother” star, Nick Starcevic.

I'll be honest: Before today, I had never heard of either of these guys and I’ve never watched “Big Brother.” In fact, I avoid reality TV shows the way Sheamus avoids the sun.

But the truth is that this blog entry will probably get linked by reality TV blogs and Web Sites – at least, I hope it will – thus pumping up my page view numbers. And getting more pages views is a good thing.

"And more pages views is a good thing."

What are you, Diamond Dallas Page?

You have indeed sold your soul Kev. Well done, well done.

:(

You sell out!

No seriously, more people should read your blog it's good.

Cheap shot on Sheamus. He is so white because under the new contract he signed with WWE, he is not allowed in the sun or in a tanning bed. I think it is a bold move by WWE, addressing the long running problem of over-tanning by its stars which has resulted in far too many case of skin cancer. It's another example of the WWE looking out for its superstars.

I happen to be a Big Brother mark as they often times do a better job than pro wrestling of highlighting characters, creating tension between houseguests, telling a story, and building up feuds that culminate in weekly competitions.

That said, since originally debuting on Big Brother 10 in 2008, Jessie has had 'Miz-like' aspirations to be a pro wrestler as he often pays tribute to pro wrestlers of the 80's, and many times on camera he has claimed that he is in talks with the WWE about being a WWE Superstar.

While that obviously didn't pan out, although he did have a cup of coffee with FCW , Jessie has been very adamant about being a pro wrestler for years, and he even sat in the front row of a live TNA Impact show alongside Joey Fatone of N'Sync fame.

Consider this a 'correspondent's piece'. Great post, Kevin.

Cross Rhodes, the biography of Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes is scheduled for a 12/7 release

Maybe that will help you feel a little better

wow, I remember you almost didn't have enough time to keep up with this page.

I'm sure the amount of traffic changed things around. someone up top noticed. Be honest, is this the number 1 section of the online SUN?

still the best place for sports news-type coverage!

wished continued success.

in reponse to your heel turn...

WHY KEVIN, WHY?!

RESPONSE FROM KE: I did it for the page views and the glory. From now on, that's all I care about. I will do whatever it takes to win. I will go as low as I have to go. If that means pimping a reality show, that's exactly what I'm going to do.No more Mr. Nice Guy.

I see it more as you've introduced wrestling fans to WFX...
Afterall look what's become of the other reality TV star...The Miz...

If I could get more of my friends to watch wrestling, I'd get them to read your blog too.

Love the blog Kev, hope it never stops.

yeah your blog is great. I can fall asleep while watching on TV and when I read it, I don't feel I've missed a thing.

I have to say I share in your dislike of reality shows with big brother right up there as my most hated, I mean who wants to watch a load of people sitting around doing nothing for most of the day? that concept goes right over my head.

Anyway, to the point, I feel your blog is good enough on it's own to stand out amongst the many others out there, I have read many but yours is the only one I have ever came back to time after time, not only when I have missed shows to see what happened in them but also for the wit and humor you show and your unique input into what you feel is going on in the world of wrestling.

Saying that though more page views for you is always going to be a good thing especially if it helps convince you to keep doing it for many years to come, keep up the good work :)

RESPONSE FROM KE: Thanks for the kind words. Just for the record: The blog does very well (consistently in to three out of about 30 blogs). Thank you and everyone else reading this for making that happen. Since I'm so competitive, though, I want do even better.

What's next..doing the Bubba the Love Sponge Show for a few more hits?

i had forgotten about that guy. On Big Brother he was always talking about becoming a pro wrestler. Hopefully I can find his match online. It appeared he was quite short, but I guess if Daniel Bryan can be rated #1 on NXT then there is hope for short wrestlers. Jesse is also ripped.

I watched Big Brother & I can't stand this guy. He's so full of himself & just a nasty, self centered person.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Sound like a natural heel.

I'm shocked and appalled.

In fact, I may just go to my own blog- and you can too, by clicking my name!- to report on this whole sordid affair.

My wife and I sometimes watch "Big Brother," and I've seen this guy. In fairness to him, he talked on the show about how he wanted to become a WWE superstar.

C'mon Kevin its a pro wrestling blog. Why should your standards continue to eclipse the rest of the industry?

"When you’re in the blogging business, sometimes you have to sell your soul in the name of generating traffic. This is one of those times."

... we'll see about that when the ratings come out tomorrow.

"I avoid reality TV shows the way Sheamus avoids the sun."

BAZINGA.

lol

I guess Miz enormous improvement in the last year or so make it all right to report this kind of stuff. But honestly Kev, I hope it really pumps up your page views, cause no one who reads actually cares for sure =P

I seem to recall him working an FCW opening match...

Oh my gawd! Kev has turned on the readers......

File that under "This Just IN."

after reading your blog the first time I went looking on youtube and found lots of videos of him. He has wrestled in FCW. I wonder if this was a WWE tryout or before they took over FCW?

Pimpin' ain't easy, Kev...

You should mentioned something about Tiger Woods, tea parties, lesbian bondage strip clubs and health care. Just pretend they're typos.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I like the way you think.

What is this. Writing stuff just to get ratings....I am going to start calling you Kev the Love Sponge.

Now all you need to do is get really fat, find a really famous person to be a lackey to, oh, and, lose all your talent.

Kevin Eck: The Batista of the Baltimore Sun. While all those other bloggers are out kissing babies and hugging fat girls, you're getting page views.

Kev, does this mean that you will now mark out for Sheamus?

so here we see hints of a heel turn for mr. eck. I find his turn to be not so convincing as of yet, but as long as his character develops over the weeks he could be a blogging main eventer. next week he should talk about how his blogs never got the traffic it should have gotten and how the readers are to blame for it. Then he should have a quick and brutal verbal beat down on a HBK fan. This should get him alot of heat.

Being a BB fan, I watched BOTH seasons of Jesse. He countlessly mentioned he wanted to be a WWE star. However, hes goofier that NXT star Daniel Brian! Whatever

Kev, your response has made my day

WOW great heel turn Kevin,

Are you considering changing the banner pic to you looking more smug or adding the text saying:

"I'm the best in the world and it's all about me!"

How's the family reacting to the new "Heel Eck"?

What is 'Big Brother'?

Self-Answering question:
...exactly

LOL, nice Kev, go heel and never look back!

To be fair I was in attendance for Jessie's first match, and minus the screaming teen girls in the row behind me, it was actually a decent match.

Also next week at the show we get to see Sabu, Christopher Daniels and another "Unadvertised Attraction" as they like to put it.

Overall the first two shows were a lot of fun, and I can't wait for the next one!

I have a feeling that this will lead to a Battle of the Blogs between Kevin and JR. As we all have seen, Kevin has laid the foundation for his heel turn and then he will start taking shots at JR soon and it will ultimately lead to a match for Maryland Championship Wrestling. JR definitely outweighs Kevin, but Kevin has some tricks up his sleeve. Watch out for JR's Fireball (that he probably learned how to throw from the King), Kevin.

Capitalism at its best

A new Scott Steiner interview will generate massive amounts of page views and comments...

Whoa Nellie (it is baseball season after all) Kev does a swerve and makes a heel turn. All that time you spent at WCW I always wondered what was taking you so long. You should have at least 3 of these by now,I guess since your HERO Shawn retired the gloves are off now,eh big boy? Well good for you but be careful what you wish for fans of these shows STILL BELIEVE IN KAYFABE, YIKES! Next up Andrew Dice Clay is coming back to a TV screen near you. I can appreciate the no sell on your reasons but how far off is a "Bubba the Love Sponge" appearance off. Say it ain't so Kevin, you have started a slippery slope. Remember publicity doesn't kill people, people with publicity kill people. What's next are you going to friend Lady Gaga on FB?

Kevin, since you are now a heel, are you gonna ask all your readers to shave their heads like CM Punk requires of his followers?

RESPONSE FROM KE: No, I am going to demand that you all bleach your hair

Jessie is incredible. My friends and I are huge fans of his so thank you for supporting him! I know CBS loves him as well because they promoted two entire summers around him. You've got to check out his website at:

www.mrpec-tacular.com

It's pretty amazing. I think he's tremendously talented and I wish him all the best. I hope the WWE takes him soon (but it will be a huge loss for WFX loss if that ever happens).

As long as you don't make this kind of stuff a regular deal. You'd hate to end up losing your dedicated readers for some cheap Xpac heat.

When Jesse was on Big Brother last year, a Big Brother fan site posted photos of Jesse, which let's just say would make him the perfect character to work with Orlando Jordan.

Nice swerve, but I see through the disguise. Heel to face swerves work because the heel can act like a face for a short time, partner up with the top babyface, then when the real face finally trusts the guy, WAM! foreign object comes out and we see the face face down with a stable of heels celebrating the betrayal around his beaten carcass.

That works Mr. Eck. You are a face through and through and the hinting of a heel turn by a face doesn't work. You are the Ricky Steamboat of wrestling bloggers, impossible to turn heel. So walk out to the ring, say your sorry for this post, walk around, shake hands, and go backstage with your head down. Then you can keep doing hip tosses, sunset flips, and dropkicks.

Kev, I guess now that you've turn heel, I'm waiting for your blog entry, "Why Sheamus is better than Shawn Michaels"

I can see many people commenting about you turning into a heel. Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin was always a heel. :P

Because of his resemblance to Christian, I think Kevin needs to come into the WWE as his evil brother.

RESPONSE FROM KE: You're not the first person that has said that I resemble Christian. I don't see it. Actually, I don't think I want to see it. Remember when they used to call him CLB (Creepy Little B**tard)?

Nah, Kevin, I don't remember when him being known as that. I remember when Christian was in the Brood with the Edge and he wore that white shirt.

Guess wouldn't be a good idea to go in WWE as anything related to Christian, since he's been buried since he's been back.

Kevin, you could represent us "internet geeks" and defend our honor against Michael Cole's badmouthing during Daniel Bryan's matches. You would instantly get over with the WWE Unvierse for beating up that douchebag.

So did this cunning ruse work? Are your page view numbers surpassing the number of TNA viewers?

RESPONSE FROM KE: The Big Brother guy didn't deliver like I thought he would. I have seen the error of my ways and have returned to the babyface side.
