Shawn Michaels says goodbye on Raw
The Heartbreak Kid probably broke quite a few hearts Monday night on Raw.
A teary-eyed Michaels gave a heart-touching speech at the end of the show as he said farewell to the fans after a phenomenal 26-year career. Among the people Michaels thanked were the fans, of which he said, “For years, you guys were the only ones in the world that made me like me;” Triple H for always standing by him for 16 years; Vince McMahon for putting up with him and helping him stay on course when he had his share of issues in the mid-to-late ’90s; and the WWE production crew.
He also made it a point to acknowledge longtime rival Bret Hart. Michaels said that he “drove that man crazy in the ’90s” and that Hart “had every right to say everything he ever did” about him. He thanked Hart for forgiving him and giving him the opportunity to be his friend again. Michaels also thanked God and his wife and two kids.
The most revealing part of Michaels’ speech was when he addressed the fans’ chant of “One more match!” Michaels said that he appreciates the sentiment and he knows that people are skeptical of career-ending matches, but he was going to do everything in his power to make sure “one more match” doesn’t happen. “I don’t want to break my word to you and I don’t want to break my word to The Undertaker,” he said. I don’t think Michaels said it with malice, but I do think he was referencing Ric Flair going back on his vow to stay retired.
Michaels concluded the 14-minute speech by delivering the line that he used when he first turned heel in 1992: “Shawn Michaels has left the building.” With that, he made his way up to the ramp, where he was greeted by Triple H. After they hugged, Triple H put two DX glow sticks on the stage and left. Michaels then waved to the fans and headed to the back.
It was a very classy speech that truly seemed heartfelt. I don’t know how he will ever top it when he is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. But I have no doubt that he’ll once again find a way to outdo himself. After all, “The Showstopper” has done exactly that for the past 26 years.
Other thoughts on Monday’s show:
The Undertaker coming out to tip his hat to Michaels before Michaels started speaking was a nice touch. ...
Raw got off to a hot start with Batista coming out to cut a promo. He had a lot of heel heat. John Cena then came out and offered Batista a rematch for later in the show, but Batista declined. That got him even more heat. Batista obviously is going to demand that the match take place at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view next month. After a brief scuffle between Batista and Cena, Jack Swagger suddenly attacked Cena from behind with the Money in the Bank briefcase. He then declared that he was cashing in his contract for a WWE title shot. By the time a referee made it to the ring, Cena had recovered and locked the STF on Swagger. I thought for sure that Swagger was going to tap and that was going to be it for Swagger’s “push.” Swagger escaped, however, and then said that, on second thought, he wasn’t cashing in. I didn’t care for that angle. First of all, why is Swagger allowed to change his mind after he said he was cashing in and the ref was in the ring? Plus, Swagger – who desperately needs some credibility after the way he has been booked since coming to Raw – was made to look like a joke. ...
In the big surprise of the night, Cena chose Randy Orton to be his tag team partner against Batista and Swagger. The crowd popped when Orton came out and was really hot for him during the match. Orton hit RKO’s on Batista and Swagger, pinning the latter for the win. It was cool to see blood enemies Cena and Orton on the same side, but WWE needs to be careful not to take the edge from Orton’s character. The fans will turn on Orton if he makes nice with Cena, WWE’s ultimate good guy. In this instance it was about mutual respect between the two, not friendship. Hopefully it stays that way. ...
I wasn’t surprised that Swagger was the one who did the job in the tag team match, but I had less of a problem with that than I did with how he was booked in the opening segment. Just the fact that Swagger was in the main event with three superstars is good for him. ...
Hart cut a good farewell promo, which I think this was his third one since returning to WWE. He paid tribute to Michaels, which was a classy move. After all the hard feelings between the two over the past 13-plus years, it is nice to see them not only gain closure but perhaps become friends. ...
The Miz cut an awesome promo on Hart. As soon as I saw Miz and The Big Show come out during Hart’s promo, I knew it was to set up a tag team title program between them and The Hart Dynasty, who are now babyfaces. That answers the question as to whether THD will get a rub from “The Hitman.” Miz and Big Show walking out in the middle of their impromptu match with THD was the right finish. It gives Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith credibility, gets heat on the heels and makes fans want to see THD get a title shot. ...
The angle in which Sheamus blind-sided Triple H in the middle of Triple H’s emotional promo about Michaels was well done and got a significant heat on Sheamus. ...
At first I thought having guest hosts – two dudes from the movie “Hot Tub Time Machine” – on the show the night after WrestleMania was a bad idea, but they stayed out of the way for the most part. Plus, they were responsible for getting four bikini-clad divas -- Tiffany, Rosa Mendes and the Bella Twins – into a hot tub. By the way, why were Tiffany and Rosa so chummy? Didn’t they have a catfight on the final episode of ECW last month? ...
The Christian-Ted DiBiase Jr. lumberjack match – with WWE old-timers as the legends – was entertaining (Christian got the win). It was funny watching the heels and babyfaces brawl, especially Sgt. Slaughter putting former rival Pat Patterson in the Cobra Clutch. ...
The 10-woman tag match – a rematch from WrestleMania – was even more of a waste than the first one. Eve pinned Maryse seconds after the bell rang. ...
Can someone explain to me what Santino Marella said and what the joke was? I didn’t get it.

Wow- what a night that was. We saw the final resolution of Hart/Michaels (each one paying respect to the other blew my mind, considering all that has gone down), and even more poignant, the final curtain call likely for both of them. Two goodbye speeches in one night nearly did me in. And they both deserved such personal and professional closure.
LOVED the Owen/Bret T-shirt...what a rise that got from the fans. Please induct that man.
When HBK's fans were crying, I thought, "oh, come on people", but I gotta admit, by the time I heard "Daddy's coming home" and saw the tears between Michaels/Triple H, I was done for, too.

I think Swagger being allowed to change his mind was simply because the referee hadn't rang the bell and I think Swagger had the right to do it. The contract states that a superstar has the right to challenge any champion anytime..why can't he change his mind if the match wasn't offiicial?
I enjoyed the segment personally. It was a change from the usual blind side 10 second victory usually done with the mitb and teases it out more whilst getting some heat on Swagger for being a cowardly/ cocky heel. I don't think it made him look stupid by getting beat up by Cena. The guy was jobbing to Santino a few months back. wwe has a year to build him up more.

Santino was making reference to the John Cusack movie Say Anything. Cusack holding the boombox over his head is the most remembered part of the movie..
RESPONSE FROM KE: Thank you. I never saw that movie.

Shawn Michaels will be missed....One of the best of all time.
Other than HBK, Raw was largely forgettable I thought. Hope it picks up speed before Extreme Rules.
BTW Kevin, how about a blog about Jim Ross, as he announced on his website that he doesn't see himself ever announcing again. Calling Jim Ross the greatest would be an understatement.

Its been fun having Taker, Vince, HBK, and Bret so heavily involved with the WWE the past few months. Very retro.
There will be a time 1,2,3, 4 years down the line where Shawn will get the itch again.

An outstanding episode of RAW..The HBK segment was awesome, emotional, and seemed to be straight shoot..Very cool with Bret and HBK acknowledging each other, also Taker tippin the cap was unexpected and a nice touch..It seemed like HBK didnt know that was happening and he seemed touched..As for the rest of RAW, I didnt like Orton teaming with Cena. Orton is red hot right now and he definately needs to keep his edge..Hopefully The Hart Dynasty can become relevant and actually have a run with the tag titles. What a concept, an actual team that just wasnt thrown together gets to be tag team champions..Also Kev, don't know if you caught it but ESPN's Bill Simmons wrote a running Diary of Wrestlemania..He dumbs it down for casual fans but its pretty entertaining and please keep in mind that Simmons is an avid wrestling fan. Hey Kev,
you pointed out that you thought that Batista was going to hold off the rematch until extreme rules, but i can tell you that match is going to happen on April 12th's episode of raw. They've been advertising it like nobody's business here in the UK, so i'm guessing that'll be the official rematch, but with bret hart as the advertised special enforcer, i can't see this one ending in a way Batista will appreciate. That will then undoubtedly lead to the proper rematch at extreme rules i imagine.
p.s. I'm sure everyone will agree that 'Mr. Wrestlemania' is going to be truly missed. Thank you Shawn.
RESPONSE FROM KE: Keep in mind that WWE often advertises main events for Raw and Smackdown TV events that are only for the live crowd.

I thought it was a nice Raw and was happy that they let Shawn just talk instead of a "this is your life" like they did for Flair.
The highlight for me, was ShoMiz. The cocky Miz having to be scolded by Big Show was perfect "Are you happy now?!" as he drug him from the ring was priceless. I really enjoy the pesky little brother/ stronger older brother dynamic. And I am very happy that THD is finally getting a push.
Posted by: Paul in Allentown | March 30, 2010 8:15 PM
I completely agree with Baxter.
Piper was my favorite as a kid, but there is no doubt Shawn has been the very best in my lifetime. I think it's possible we may see him on a show some time in the future (most certainly at the Hall induction), but I feel comfortable in saying we have seen his last match.
Thank you, Shawn.

im gonna miss shawn so much, his goodbye had me on the verge of tears. im no wrestling historian and i never saw flair in his prime. but since i started watching wrestling in the early 90s, there hasnt been anyone who even comes close to shawn. no disrespect to angle, taker and other greats, shawn michaels is in a class by himself. shawn is truly a once in a lifetime performer and i consider myself lucky to have watched him. thank u shawn.

It was awesome to see Bret and Shawn start what seems to be a wonderful friendship, I'm glad that the hatchet's buried and they can move on. I honestly think that if Orton is utilized correctly that he can pass Cena as the most popular WWE superstar and become the face of the WWE, what do you think about that Kev? He was so over with the crowd that it was ridiculous, I honestly can't remember the last time I heard a crowd reaction like that.

"why is Swagger allowed to change his mind after he said he was cashing in and the ref was in the ring?"
Hey Kevin, if I recall, all of the previous winners have had to give the briefcase over to the ref to make it an official challenge. I actually like the idea of Swagger randomly attacking Cena and backing off if Cena starts to get the advantage before a match is official. Kinda reminds everyone how the deal works while they build Swagger up to be a legitimate challenger. And as always, thanks for the hard work!

After being bored to death by the Bret Hart- McMahon angle, I was thrilled to see Hart finally do what I, and I believe many others, had wanted to see all along. He helped put over the Hart Foundation, who actually got to do something other than job out to Crime Tyme. That pleased me, because they have been so wasted by WWE for far too long.
And, to anyone who hasn't seen "Say Anything," I highly recommend grabbing the DVD. Just because you are a macho wrestling fan doesn't mean you can't enjoy a romantic comedy, and in my mind this is one of the best movies (if not the best) of that genre.
Posted by: LarryB | March 30, 2010 8:32 PM
There any significance to the fact that none of the wrestlers backstage, apart from Helmsley and UT, came out to salute Shawn Michaels? I was expecting them all to come out and at least stand at the top of the ramp, applauding him. Maybe he didn't want that, but it seemed a little odd for someone that's had as big of an impact as he has.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I'm almost certain that Shawn just wanted to speak to the fans by himself and then walk to the back. If you saw the wwe.com video of Shawn walking to the back after the match Sunday night, everyone was lined up in the hallway clapping for him.
Posted by: Paul in Hawaii | March 30, 2010 8:52 PM
Why do they still have divas again? They went from 7 minute matches to 5 minute matches to 3 minute matches to 1 minute matches and now to 5 second matches. And they actually have two women's titles. Sigh.
Orton was over big time. He's starting to be a bit more like Stone Cold; bada-- face character. The difference is Austin is more the trash-talking "I'm gonna kick your ass", while Orton is the more silent "I'm going to kill you" face...
Miz's promo was awesome, and his line about being 17 wins away from tying the streak was hilarious.
I actually enjoyed Raw quite a bit. I don't know if Shawn Michaels leaving the WWE is finally setting in or if it's just a temporary post-WM tendency, but the elevations of Swagger, Miz and the Hart Dynasty were well-done, I thought.
Last, and sure as hell not least, thank you, Shawn.
Posted by: Anonymous | March 30, 2010 9:04 PM
I enjoyed this Raw. HBK's speech was one of the best I can remember seeing for something like this and I liked that both he and Hart said nice things about each other. That along with the backstage stuff after WM26 leads me to believe they really are back on better terms again, if not friends yet.
I also agree with the way the tag match went between ShowMiz and The Hart Dynasty. It would've been too early to give THD the belts so soon after the face turn and this will give it the chance to build. I also liked Miz's promo.
Posted by: James V. | March 30, 2010 9:08 PM
They need to push Orton BIG TIME. He has the potential to carry the WWE for a decade. He doesn't have the charisma of The Rock or the everyman persona of Stone Cold, but he's a better wrestler than both and he's better at switching between heel and face. Well, HHH is good at that too

A couple of months ago when Shaq hosted Raw. Jericho and Big Show came out and Shaq challenged them to face his friends Cryme Tyme. In your recap, you said that Jericho and Big Show should have busted out laughing when Cryme Tyme came out.
I felt the same way on Monday when THD challenged the Miz and Big Show. At this point, the Hart Dynasty are Cryme Tyme with better English Skills.

i was wondering if you really think that this is indeed the last match for shawn being that he is probably WWE most celebrated perfomer i would think he would have gotten a bigger send off then what flair's was. i am also hoping with the huge owen chant that broke out that #1 they will finally put out a DVD for him and secondly it will be 13 years since his death next WM so I know that he is not taz but i hope it is the year he finally gets into the hall of fame.

Farewell HBK. Farewell JR. As a fan of wrestling for the past 20 odd years it's hard to imagine a wrestling world without these two men. I think now's a good time to say goodbye to wrestling as well. I'd like to echo the comments made by ESPN's Bill Simmons in his Wrestlemania blog where he ponders taking a break from wrestling until his son is old enough to get interested. I can't remember the last time I had the patience to watch an entire RAW (or an entire PPV for that matter). Even with this Mania, the only match I could watch without fast-forwarding was HBK v. Taker. Am I the only one who's bored senseless? There's only so many times you can be moved by the same tired formulas. I just cannot watch another tag team dissolve into bitter rivals or get mad when a heel interferes in a face's match only to set up another PPV. My theory is that what made HBK and JR so great is that they could take the formulas and elevate it to something higher, maybe like how great rock bands take the same four instruments and create something that's new. Here's a dream from my wrestling nerd heart: Hopefully when I come back there will be new Gods who can bend the old into something new and make wrestling as kick freaking !ss as HBK and JR did. Thanks for your blog Kevin, it was always the first place I looked for respectful, even-handed wrestling commentary. Peace.

Great speech, really heartfelt...wish I could've been there chanting "thank you shawn" with everyone else.
Quick question, Kevin: which Wrestlemania's crowd do you think was better, this or last year's?
RESPONSE FROM KE: Hard to say since I was at last year's show but watched this one on TV
Posted by: Delmon | March 30, 2010 10:48 PM
I'm guilty of getting misty during "real" WWE moments: the deaths of Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero, Ric Flair's farewell, and again on Monday with HBK.
I've always appreciated Michaels' ability, but I wasn't quite ready for him to be done. I thought he'd take some time off and come back after a few months.
I think we're all fortunate to have been around to watch Shawn Michaels perform. He is as good now as he ever has been. He has to be one of the greatest of all time.

One addition, I read Bill Simmons' WrestleMania diary earlier Monday; hilarious! I love when he talks wrestling.
Posted by: Jimmy Bellamy | March 30, 2010 10:58 PM
why do you hate Brewt so much? hes an all-time great and even shawn admits everything Bret said about him was true. Shawn was a selfish schmuck from 95-98 but his return and how he performed and acted helped him turn around his rep.
Posted by: gratone | March 30, 2010 11:01 PM
Totally agree with bartoloco re: Shawn's music. So awful. But man, could he wrestle. Shawn's greatness was not only his athleticism, but his storytelling. He really could do anything in the ring.
I was half expecting some kind of swere, with, say, Jericho coming out to challenge Shawn or something, until I saw that first tear role down his cheek. After that, I just sat back and thought "wow, that really was the last time we'll see Shawn Michaels wrestle". I'm just so glad that he got to come back and go out on his terms.
I thought the rest of RAW was really strong as well. Things are really clicking in a way that hasn't happened in quite a while. Loved the ShowMiz dynamic; Show, in fact, didn't seem to be acting like a heel at all. I'm glad that the Hart Dynasty is FINALLY being included in the Bret Hart program.
There's still flaws, most notably the guest host concept, which is now totally played out, and the Divas, which is just a disaster. They need to bring someone in to completely rethink the Divas' role in the WWE.
BTW, I thought that Swagger's non-use of the case was very similar to Punk's not cashing in against Edge last year, when Punk had Edge beaten in a match, was going for the case, and Umaga attacked him (was that just a year ago? Man). Yes, it was a different situation, but I think the president of the MITB cash in being flexible has been set.

i don't have anything else to say but only one thing for shawn, "please comeback shawn wwe needs u the fans need ur entertainment and wwe is losing alot of fans if u don't come back to wwe. please please please come back i would never watch wwe again if u don't come back. i don't think if anyone(your biggest fan like me) would watch wwe again. even though you lost some matches at wrestlemania, they were ur success and u worked harder and better than anyone in there. even undertaker, lets say he won at wrestlemania but he didn't perform better than u, u still were on top and u are not at the age to retire, u are still the best entertainer in sports entertainment. please come back please

The Miz said that he was 1-0 at Wrestlemania. Did he forget that he lost to Carlito & Primo in the Unified Tag Team Title match at WM 25 last year?
WWE needs to stop booking these 1-minute Divas matches. I can't wait for Melina to get back on Raw.
Posted by: Hendrix | March 31, 2010 12:07 AM
Under no circumstances should any RAW guest host be allowed to utter the phrase, "What's up?" This should be reserved for R-Truth.
As an AWA fan it was great to see Nick Bockwinkel. He underwent triple bypass surgery last November.
Speaking of the AWA, that is where Shawn Michaels cut his wrestling teeth.
It is good to see that Bret Hart will remain in the WWE as a mentor to The Hart Dynasty.
It is also good to see that whatever hatchet existed between Hart & Michaels is buried right where it should be.
Posted by: Aaron Goldstein | March 31, 2010 2:07 AM
HHH's Tribute was certainly heartfelt but you could tell he was waiting for something to happen, besides the fact I think he was honestly upset at his friend leaving.
HBK's speech had me crying.... his sincere thank you's to HHH, Vince, Bret and his jab at Ric Flair. The fact for once the wrestling crowd did not go "What?!" after each sentence
The Cena/Batista promo at the start of the promo was solid, not as great as in the past but still good. Although it is hard to believe Cena has had 9 championship runs.
Love the Hart Dynasty get a push... can I just say finally. But Show in the parent role is fun.
Great blog as always

Due to a scheduling issue on Sunday for the person that introduced me to wrestling, I just watched WresleMania and RAW with him tonight.
Man, there were a lot of tears. I'd spent the last week convincing myself that this was going to be Shawn's last hurrah and hoped I'd be able to watch, enjoy, and not leak from the eyes, but the minute The Undertaker couldn't finish the execution sign, I was undone.
What a beautiful, heartfelt farewell for the man who personified the artistry of professional wrestling, both in the ring and on the stick. Performers like Shawn Michaels are few and far between. In my mind, the comparison to Flair's sendoff is missing the point.
The man that Michaels had the utmost respect for throughout his career, The Undertaker, came out on stage and gave Shawn a tremendous show of respect. His best friend for 16 years, Hunter, appeared, showed him genuine love and respect, and then made a quick exit to let the last moment be for Michaels.
And he had a chance to speak from the heart to the fans.
All in all, the match was perfect, the WrestleMania moment was perfect, and the farewell was perfect.
He wanted to thank us, the fans, and we want to thank him. Seems perfectly symbiotic to me.
Thank you, Shawn.

With all the chants the fans did during HBK's speech, the only thing I missed, and would have stood up at home and laughed out loud for, would have been a 'Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ!' chant after he thanked his Lord and Saviour. I honestly would have paid people to start that chant.

Even though Bret said "Goodbye" for about the hundredth time, I'm pretty sure he'll be back, as he's booked to appear on the U.K tour that the WWE goes on in the next few weeks. He's appearing at the arena which is right by my house, and I don't even have a ticket. Shame really.
I thought Shawn's real farewell speech was very well done and he certainly went out on a high. I thought it was going to be like the speech Ric Flair did two years ago after WM when he "retired", with numerous guys coming out to personally pay their respect to Shawn. I'm glad they didn't do that though, as Shawn just speaking by himself was perfect, and the little appearance by Hunter at the end was a nice touch.

The highlight for me was Shawn's speech, especially his thanking the guys in the truck and the "little red head kid in Stamford, CT". Too often the men and women who produce these shows and video packages get overlooked for their contributions. And, yes, it was classy of him to thank Vince, who we all demonize every chance we get, but forget that these shows and characters wouldn't nearly be as popular without him.

Great farewell speech from HBK, he’s truly a legend. At the end of the day he is a wrestler and he loves the spotlight, for that reason I think we will see him return in one way or another. I don’t hold it against Flair and there is no way I would hold it against HBK. My only gripe is that his last match was with Taker and not HHH.

Not that this should even matter much on Michael Shawn Hickenbottom's last show, but something Cole said caught my attention. He said that Rhodes was out "indefinitely" after being kicked in the head. And he also spoke of Legacy being completely dissolved. That can't be good for Rhodes, huh? What do you think?

I just have to say, thank you for writing so much in honor of the legendary Shawn Michaels. The name "Heartbreak" Kid couldn't be more fitting because in all my years of watching wrestling, I've never been heartbroken like I am right now. When you've followed HBK's extraoardinary career for as long as I have it's very hard to see this all taken place and it's very hard not to shed a tear. I thank him so much for never letting the WWE universe down and giving us a 25 year rollercoaster ride. I will never forget his candid and unique sense of humor, wisecracks, sidesplitting antics, his charisma, his breath-taking high-flying, uncanny and entertaining resilience, and the list just goes on. Time for me to go out and by his DVD.

Shawn Michaels made my 8 year old son cry, it was a great farewell address. He seemed very sincere in his desire not to wrestle again and I hope he sort of sticks with it. The rare one off appearance is almost a certainty (alos forgivable) and I look forward to seeing those future episodes. I guess the Undertaker's the next to go.

The next person to reference the Montreal Screw job on TV should be shot. It really does seem that the feud is over. As someone who has watched since WM I I can say the two comments from Bret wishing HBK the best and HBK saying thanks to Bret were the most emotional part of the night for me.
HBK's speech was incredible. If you had told me 20 years ago that one of the Rockers, a team that had just lost to the Orient Express at WM VI, would have given this speech years later after a phonemenal career I wouldn't have believed you. I haven't read all the comments but why no mention of Jannetty? Anyways it was the best speech I've heard in wrestling and he will be missed by the fans and most certainly by management.

I have to say that Cena coming out after the performance by the US Air Force Drill team at Wrestlemania was worth paying to watch WM. The pop he recieved when his music hit was outstanding and it gave me goosebumps.
First of all, why is Swagger allowed to change his mind after he said he was cashing in and the ref was in the ring?
Don't know if you missed it but it was referenced that the match wasn't official because the ref never rang the bell?
HBK is sorely going to be missed and I thought it was great that he made reference to retirement matches and how he does not want to go back on his word to stay retired (a'la Ric Flair).
HBK, Bret Hart and Jim Ross all 'retiring' from the business is a tough pill to swallow. They are all going to be missed.
Btw, I love the t-shirt that Bret had on with him and Owen.

In Hart's book he says if he ever came back to MSG he'd like to do something special.
So maybe June 19 we could have THD win the tag titles and Hart say his real farewell.

As a proud HBK mark, this has been one of the toughest couple of weeks of wrestling for me, EVER. Its hard to come to the realization that the guy you've watched in the ring for 2/3 of your life is hanging it up. I still remember being a wee slip of a lad, sitting in front of the TV Saturday morning in absolute horror of Shawn kicking Marty and putting him through that window. I remember being disgusted and absolutely tickled by the antics of the original DX. I didn't hold Montreal against Shawn, cause you gotta do what the boss man tells you. Wrestling, and the WWE in general, do not know what they have lost with his retirement. I'm past grief now, and have accepted it. HBK, whatever road that God has you walking down now, just know that your fans are with you. We love you and will always miss you.
Now, on to RAW. Orton coming out to be Cena's partner. Wow. I just hope this doesn't lead to another Cena/Orton feud. Let Orton remain ambigious about his loyalties. I think he's tired of being the heel, but not quite ready yet to be a face. The middle of the road is a perfect place for him.
Do we really have to suffer through any more guest hosts? I can't take it anymore. It started out as a great idea, but now creative seems to be running dry and they are starting to scrape the barrell if these two dorks were the only two they could line up. Heck, if this is where its going, let's get Jackie Earl Hayley in there in the Freddy make-up and let Krueger run Monday Night RAW for a night.
The diva match was pointless at WM, and painful again at RAW. Never realized how much I would miss Maria and Melina. Come back Melina they need you!!!
HD vs. ShoMiz or the MizShow whatever, was the best match of the night. I can't believe I'm saying it again, but Miz is starting to grow on me. Go figure. I knew he was fungus.
All in all, I'd say TNA got creamed again, but what saved the show was HBK as usual. God bless him, WWE is going to need him now that he's gone.
OH! And Sheamus. I don't agree at all Kevin. Not at all. There are times to set up your feud and this was not one of them. It was a huge set-up obviously, but still. There has not been a dynamic relationship of the likes between Hunter and HBK ever in the WWE. Hunter was giving a impassioned speech and it should have stayed that. HBK can only retire once (I know, I know, but he says its for real). There was no need. They could set up their silly little feud next week. Why it had to be at that point in time, I just found it insulting and frankly would've chewed Sheamus a new one afterwards.

As one of Shawn Micheals biggest fans, I'm saddened to see him go, but as a human being I'm glad he got the opportunity to go out on such a high note.
I would have liked him to get one more title run.
I remember in the days following the Montreal Screwjob, I was at a Raw near my hometown in Canada and I had to be the only one cheering for him. I thought I was going to get beaten up badly by those sitting around me. I'm pretty sure I was the only Canadian Shawn Micheals fan in those days!

The phrase "championship belt" was uttered, what a step-forward

shawn you will be sorely missed. To me you are and were as big as the greatest names out there in the industry. Your Athleticism your passion and your dedication to the ring was a thing of greatness. When you got hurt and I thought your were done for good I thank the wrestling gods for getting you back in that ring. If you come back from your retirement it shouldn't be criticized you should be praised for gracing us with your presence. HBK you will always be the shostoppa to me. And for you haters out there I got two words for you.........

Shawn Michaels is the greatest wrestler ever! I do give thanks to all the greats from the past who paved the way for men like Shawn, but he is the best. His talent, athleticism, and artistry is unrivaled. His career has been 26 years long--as long as I've been alive! I first watched Shawn Michaels and knew that he was greatness. I find it interesting that his retirement is a major turning point in his life and at 26, I'm going through a major turning point as well.
Forgive me for being longwinded but I must say that his speech last week was perfect. Thank you Shawn Michaels for entertaining us fans and keeping us forever awestruck. Thank God, most importantly, for blessing us with your presence. Many blessings to you, your family, and friends. Wrestling will never be the same without you! I may retire from watching wrestling--can't imagine what RAW this week is gonna do to me...
(Oh, by the way, someone mentioned that they'll never have to hear his horrible entrance music again. I actually enjoyed his "SexyBoy" theme because after switching it to mostly his voice--we know that it's him and not some group like Motorhead or whoever)

I would like to say that Shawn Michaels will be truly missed...He was definitely one of my favorites...I did not know him in his younger years, but these last few, he has captured my respect. I wish him the very best in whatever his future holds, and pray that God will truly bless him an his family. I never met him in this life, and if our paths never crosss here, I truly expect us to be friends in the next life which will be Heaven. I truly pray that all who have no accepted Jesus as their personal Savior, do so, as soon as possible, as He is Coming Soon....God Bless U Shawn, and I wish you blessings....
