Poll: Who is wrestling's top heel?

Now that Randy Orton, who was perhaps the best heel in wrestling, is making a gradual babyface turn, it begs the question, "Who is wrestling's best bad guy?"

Vote in the poll below and feel free to leave comments explaining your choice.

Umm, where is AJ Styles??????

RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't see him as a better heel than the five guys I have listed.

I voted for Jericho mainly because he has been doing it longer, although I consider Punk to be top notch.

Batista's promo last Monday was good. He's definitely better as a heel. Keep it up Dave + maybe I'll turn my opinion on you around.

Often, less physically talented workers (like Batista and even Orton to a certain extent) are able to get over best as a rule breaking heel. Jericho and Punk are top notch both in the ring and on the mic so special kudos to them.

Anderson is good on the mike but his matches have never captured me to-date.

I voted for CM Punk, but I'm hoping Shawn Micheals turns fully heel again. He's been the best heel character of all time.

Am I the only one who is bothered by the term "babyface" being applied to Randy Orton? I get that he's doing a turn, but even once it's complete, he's going to be a tweener, right?

I guess here is my more general question: is there a distinction between a face and a babyface? In my mind, the Undertaker is a face, but not a babyface, like Rey Mysterio.

Oh, and to answer your question: Jericho, but Batista is closing fast.

Long term Jericho's really in a league of his own here, he's just such a smarmy bugger. Now that I've said that, I voted for Batista. I think his work now is the best he's done.

in my opinion, Batista is just doing an awesome job as a heel because he just portrays not caring about anything, unlike the other heels who care about something. If not him than CM Punk takes it by a mile over Chris Jericho. I'm a big Jericho fan for him being a heel, but there are some instances in which Jericho actually cracks a joke or makes a comment that really isn't hellish, so it's hard to take him as a hardcore heel.

There are a bunch of Jericho marks who read this blog.

And who in their right mind votes for Mr Anderson?

Miiiiisterrrrr Aaaandersen.....anderson. His charisma probably has the most impact for the respective company that he represents. Jericho is just obnoxious and Batista is a babyface no matter how we all spin it (the other 2 don't matter).

Is Jericho this generations Flair?

I went for CM Punk. I never got what the big deal about Punk was, even after I had seen some of his indie stuff. But last year, when he was so brilliant in that feud with Hardy, I finally came around to him. I thought it was terrible idea to bump him back down the card (What was the deal with that again? Wasn't there a rumor of some sort of backstage disrespect towards 'Taker?).

When they first revealed the Straight Edge Society, I thought that it was going to cement his new mid-card status by relegating him to the tag team division, which is still booked to be not that big of a deal anymore, even with the reigns of JeriShow and DX.

But his promos have been so great that they have been given a prominent spot in the last two PPV main events. He also seems like the logical next WHC challenger if Edge wins at WrestleMania. Rated-R Superstar vs. Straight Superstar? Like the Hardy feud, this one would practically write itself and be very entertaining.

Oh, one more thought. Mr. Kennedy is included but not AJ Styles? I know Styles is still working on his new heel persona, but he is the champ which makes him TNA's #1 heel from a certain point-of-view. Plus, his heel character is getting better in my opinion; the Ric Flair imitations are kind of lame, but I am entertained by the cheesy, cocky, self-centered champion character.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Styles is doing OK, but, to me, Kennedy has gotten more heat for his work with Angle than Styles has in his programs.

Woo Woo Woo?

Incredibly tough choosing between CM Punk and Chris Jericho. I ended up going with Punk, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I choose Cm Punk because he has great in ring skills and mic skills, and I really see the straight edge society business as a step in the right direction for a heel.

Jericho. He has everything: great worker, good mic skills and a condescending swagger about him that makes him a pleasure to loathe.

It's interesting that two of the biggest heels in WWE have recently become top faces (Edge and Orton) and that Miz and Batista have stepped up to filled their void. I voted for Jericho but have to say it was a pretty tough choice.

I voted for CM Punk. I loved the promos he cut on Jeff Hardy. In my opinion, he does his best work when he takes aim at a rival, rather than at the fans.

The asterisk to Jericho—and I'm glad to see he's winning widely—is that he is the top heel, *despite* the way he's booked.

Am I the only one that likes Batista better as a "babyface"?

I took Jericho in this 1 only because it is more like a lifetime acheivement award for years Jericho had to job to the ortons & cena's of the world becoming the king of the mid cards just now after being in WWE on and off for about 11 years now he just started getting his due.

I voted for Cleveland's Best - The Miz! I thought about this just yesterday. All of the WWE guys you listed here are excellent though. Not a fan of Anderson. If I had to list a TNA guy I might say Eric Bischoff.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I wanted to limit it to wrestlers, but Bischoff is definitely a great heel character.

How about a little "love" for William (I still want to call him Lord Steven) Regal!!

It was a tough choice between Punk and Jericho, but I had to go with the man who's the best at what he does.

Both Punk and Jericho make you want to hate them, which is the idea. And both are fantastic in their respective roles. I am giving the nod to Jericho since his heel run has gone on longer and he hasn't lost any of the heat, in fact it intensifies weekly.

I think Batista is the best right now. His mix of Kanye West, a heel who doesn't want to fight, and a destroyer when he does is awesome, and his promos are great.

I'm surprised you didn't put Bubba the Love Sponge on that poll. He seems to draw a lot of heat from you.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Yeah, but that's go-away heat.

Jericho is the only heel who finds new ways to get the crowd to hate him despite being in the WWE long enough to receive 'tribute' babyface heat. JERICHO

I voted for Jericho because he is a total package. Not only is he a great talker, but he is also one of the best performers in the ring. Batista gave the best promo of his career on Monday night, but one single promo is not enough to establish yourself as the best and it does not make up for his limited skills. Jericho is the best, followed by Punk and the Miz (Go Cleveland!) is rapidly progressing. I think Edge v Jericho is worth the price of Wrestlemania alone.

Voted for Batista for his promo with Cena..
Hunter is also Gr8 as a Heel.
However, the greatest Heel in the last decade is surely MUHAMMAD HASSAN..
What do u think KEV?

Punk certainly has the best heat-garnering gimmick. Jericho dropped some of the "Last honest man" character that was so great to watch. He is the best heel for all the little things that he does. I do wish he would start dropping SAT words again because the crowd reactions to them were priceless. Punk is right on his heels though.

No Sheamus? Nobody get heat like that man!

Y2J!!! Last year there'd be weeks were he could be the focus on all 3 shows (and maybe even have a match on Superstars) I'd kill to see him get clean wins over HHH and Cena. Wrestler of the Decade

Can´t believe it myself but I voted for Batista. He has grown on me for the last couple of weeks. I´m actually interested in his match against Cena at WM. Can´t believe that too, I´m interested in a match that involves Cena.

Jericho a clear winner, with Punk and Batista closing fast. Jericho can do it all...smarmy self promotion, promos dripping with sarcasm and loathing, and done in great style, but can then turn around and deliver a vicious beat down. Punk is really bringing the Straight edge Society along for the ride, and has become almost Jericho-like on the mic, and Batista's promo/appearances have been getting better of late. I loved his 'no explanation' a couple weeks ago.

Add that to his brutality which is unmatched and he is fast becoming a package you can't turn away from.

Jericho has it hands down. Punk has a great act going now and if he gets a little more aggressive with a good memorable heel moment he could have it soon. Jericho threw HBK into a tv screen and punched Mrs HBK in the mouth. Dosent get much more heelish than that.

I have been impressed with Batista of late but he only recently turned heel. Hopefully he will continue with this character change.

I got confused between Punk and Jericho. In the end, I voted for Jericho. Because Jericho has evolved as a heel as the times have changed. The heel Jericho that we saw before he took a hiatus from pro wrestling is very different from what we see now.

Well voting on the choices you gave us I would go for CM Punk. He is over big time, the funny thing is if this was 1988 he would be voted top babby face. I would love to see Punk fued with Stonecold or The Sandman

I've said it for a long time, Jericho is one of the best there is out there. He manages to get tremendous heat in no time and can turn the crowd around no matter how much they love him. Also, I don't think there are many heels in this day and age that get hassled by angry fans like Jericho did last year. That's a job well done!

I hated Mr. Anderson in WWE. In TNA, I actually enjoy all his segments. Still voted for CM Punk though.

I voted for Jericho because he can play the heel so many different ways and whoever he's feuding with comes out looking strong.

That being said, it's hard to find a better heel character than Kurt Angle when he's playing one.

I don't care for alot of the skits the wrestling shows promote. But two really stick out in my mind and I still find them hilarous. The one where Chris Jerico was marching outside that building with a placard. He was doing some sort of protest. They panned to him and it was late and he was the only one outside the building; I would like to see that again. That was just so funny. And no matter how hard a heel that Bautista trys to be; and he can play a good heel, we all love him anyway. I hate to see TNA and WWE go against each other on Monday nights. I love seeing Abyss on TNA too. I may have to buy a machine that records both shows.

I'm a HUGE Punk mark, but by the same token, I've been a huge Jericho mark for a long time."The best there is at what he does" (stolen from Wolverine BTW) has been so consistent for so long, I think he is definitely in the conversation as to who is the next Ric Flair. I vote for Jericho hands down.

Voted for Punk - but only because JBL's retired.

First of all, Mr.Anderson is by far the best heel in wrestling right now, he gives the best heel promos and interviews, you love to hate him, and his matches are entertaining. Batista is horribly overrated first of all, he has no mic skills, and his matches aren't bad, but not great. C.M. Punk's mic skills are average, though his wrestling is good. The Miz is great side banter but that's it. Chris Jericho is good all around but I think Mr.Kennedy has got him beat as of right now.

I think if Cena turned he would make a good heel. I think HHH is grooming Sheamus. The WWE should have never turned Orton and Edge face they were the best heels. As far as now there are none that in my mind are good enough.

"the iron sheik" . in my own poll . :)

ric flair and aj!!!!!
