Kevin, have you seen this Vaudevillian take on the end of the PPV? Hilarious.

Boy oh boy oh boy. This is not easy. I'm a Jericholic, and I think he and Edge will have a great match, but I don't think the build has worked that well. Honestly, I think the title is getting in the way of what should be a very personal feud. I think it will be fun to see Bret Hart back in the ring, but I don't expect too much. I just finally saw Taker/HBK on the new HBK DVD, and it lived up to its reputation, and the build has been well done, but I'm still not 100% behind the rematch.
So that leaves, surprisingly, Cena/Batista and Punk/Mysterio. Considering how apathetic I am to both guys, I'm surprised how much I'm anticipating Cena/Batista. But it's been built perfectly, and it looks to be exactly what you want in a Wrestlemania main event: an epic showdown for the title. Anyone that doesn't think that this match should involve the title doesn't understand booking. If you'd asked me a few weeks ago, after Batista's promo, it would have been this match.
But Punk is on another level right now. He reminds me a lot of Jericho back in WCW, in that he's playing his character so perfectly that his opponent doesn't even have to lift a finger. PERFECT HEEL WORK. I want to see the good guy win, because the bad guy is so despicable. Plus, these two really do have the ability to steal the show. I just hope they get the time.

Kev - hoping to get your thoughts on something.
With all the negative flak Flair's gotten over his "retirement" after WM a few years ago ... will HBK really retire assuming he loses this year? Or will it just be a few month break and a return to the ring?
RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't believe any wrestler who says he is retiring for good.
Posted by: JD | March 22, 2010 2:48 PM
Chris Jericho - Edge is going to be one of the greatest WM matches in history.
Posted by: MitZi | March 22, 2010 2:56 PM
Where's the HHH-Sheamus match? It's the greatest of all time vs. the best first year wrestler ever! This is like Hart vs. Piper, Hulk vs. Andre, Lawerence Taylor vs. . nevermind. Lame attempt at humor.
I voted HBK/UT but for the first time I can remember I am anxious to see Cena and Batista. I never thought I'd write that. And the nostalgic side of me wants to see Hart slap the SS on VKM.
Posted by: Bad News | March 22, 2010 2:57 PM
Edge - Jericho. Purely because Jericho has yet to be used properly at a Wrestlemania imo and this should be the year he finally is.

My thoughts on the finish for HBK/Taker have changed many times. I think somehow there is a finish that lets both of them walk away with their respective careers/streaks in tact. But that being said if I had to pick a winner it would be HBK. I think Taker would put HBK over to end the streak.
Posted by: Patrick Johnson | March 22, 2010 3:14 PM
Gotta say, those are ALL matches I'm looking forward to.
You didn't include the MITB match?
Posted by: Jules B. | March 22, 2010 3:22 PM
I'm looking forward to all five bouts mentioned . What a great card this year... and built up decently in advance.
Posted by: Bill | March 22, 2010 3:26 PM
Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker.
I simply can't wait for this match. It has been built up so well and has the feel of one of the biggest matches in WWE history. I am looking forward to it even more than last years match, which shows that the WWE are right on the money with this feud.
The fact that HBK has his career on the line should allow for some amazing drama, hopefully to the point of topping last years effort, which would probably make it WrestleMania's greatest ever match.
Posted by: Andy | March 22, 2010 3:59 PM
I have chosen HBK vs The Undertaker... personally I believe the two are capable of putting on an even better show than last year, not to mention with the no-DQ stipulation which could allow some real "holy s***" moments!
As for the result, I want to believe that this isn't the end of HBK. He deserves at least one decent title run and then maybe retire as the champion as a winner. I'd like to think HBK's career is worth more to WWE than The Undertaker's streak.
Posted by: Andy | March 22, 2010 4:08 PM
There is no denying that Michaels vs. Undertaker is the match to see and I think it should close the show. What would you think of HBK and Taker closing the show Kev?
Posted by: Kevin | March 22, 2010 4:27 PM
What?! No choice of HHH vs. Sheamus?!
Posted by: Xelpzat | March 22, 2010 5:18 PM
I'm not anticipating any of them. I can tell you who will win all five right now...
Cena
Hart
Edge
Punk
Taker
Listen to me now...believe me March 29th.
Posted by: Biesel | March 22, 2010 5:23 PM
Looking at the results I am really in the minority when it comes to the Michaels-Taker match. I thought they put on a heck of a performance last year but both wrestlers were booked to look like superman and all the kick-outs were ridiculous. I just want to see if Taker can make the jump over the top rope without landing on his head. My money is on the Batista-Cena match. Batista is hungry and healthy and Cena knows how to put on a qulaity PPV match. Jericho and Edge should be good too but my fear is that the end result will be what everyone is predicting (Edge winning). My hope is for there to be some sort of swerve that will allow Jericho to retain the belt. He deserves to leave the grandest stage of all as the World Champion

Easily Shawn Micheals vs Undertaker, but I'm very happy overall with this years WM card. All matches have potential to be very good in one way or another. SHould also put MITB on this poll. Last year it was the second best match on the card. I'm just cringing at the thought of Drew McIntyre winning. I'll be rooting for a last minute Kofi Kingston insertion and him going over. If that doesn't happen, I'll root for Evan Bourne in the same way I always wanted Wyle E Coyote to beat the Road Runner. It'll never happen, but its fun to hope.
I'd just say that as big an Undertaker fan as I am, and I know it isn't going to happen, I want Shawn to win. A loss would make Undertaker's future Wrestlemanias much more interesting without the foregone conclusion of him winning. And if Shawn really is retiring, I think it fitting that he go out on top. For one, he has shown that he's perfectly willing to put people over, he's the greatest all round performer of all time and if he wins and then retire's he'll go out creating controversy, and he's certainly been the best at that. (no doubt fans will be freaking out over backstage politics if he ends the streak)

ShawnTaker Part II.
I just wanna see if lightning can strike twice.
Also expecting good things from Edge and Jericho.
Posted by: Loco | March 22, 2010 6:58 PM
But the real most anticipated match was not listed. HHH vs. Sheamus. Just kidding LOL
Posted by: Cory | March 22, 2010 7:58 PM
Titles mean so little these days, it had to be either the Streak vs. Career or Life vs. Straightedge match.
Shawn and the Undertaker are sure to put on the better (and longer) match so they get my vote.
Posted by: Bob D | March 22, 2010 8:20 PM
HBK- Taker part 2.
I just finished watching Shawn's new DVD and had a great time reliving some of pro-wrestling's greatest matches. Even though most of the matches on the DVD were not his most famous matches, they bring back so many memories from over 20 years for myself and show how entertaining he is even at lower profile shows.
With Undertaker being featured twice in the DVD it shows their awesome chemistry and great storytelling whenever they meet.
I hope one day when Taker is retired they do a similer DVD set with him out of character talking about his career. There is so much wrestling history between the two there is no question that this match will be the one I will be paying to see.

Some time ago, I suggested that Mysterio join The Straight-Edge Society. I hope that it happens at Wrestlemania.
Posted by: Christopher | March 22, 2010 10:12 PM
So I voted for HBKvTaker like most seemed to. My reason being that it's the only match where something substantial is potentially on the line whoever wins - and it makes the outcome very hard to predict...
Unless Michaels is really planning to retire after this, which I can't see happening, it seems like they might actually end Taker's streak. Except that it seemed especially after last year that it was almost a foregone conclusion that Taker would go into the hall of fame as undefeated at WM.
I get this feeling that somehow this match either won't end decisively or Michaels will end the streak. Michaels retiring seems less plausible...
I'm interested, separate from your most anticipated, what your thoughts are on the potential outcome of the Taker/HBK match.
My second choice is actually a close call between Edge/Jericho and Cena/Batista. I'm a little unsure about Edge's condition to work a full length WM caliber match - which makes me lean a lil towards the Cena/Batista match. I'm sure Cena/Batista will be able to tell a great story and they both are at the top of their game right now. If Edge is really able to operate 100% then I'm sure they will put together something pretty spectacular.
Posted by: Jeremy Hale | March 22, 2010 10:33 PM
HBK/Taker of course. Can it get any bigger than HBK´s career and Taker´s streak on the line?
Even though I still believe that after the match somehow both things will be intact.
Posted by: XDreamItchy | March 23, 2010 3:00 AM
Looking forward to the match between Michaels and Undertaker the most.
Aside from the "retirement vs streak" aspect of the match, it's guaranteed to be a really well worked match. More than likely going to be match of the night.

Hey Kevin,
Have you seen the new HBK DVD "My Journey?" I'd be interested in your review of that, and is it much different than "Heartbreak and Triumph" which I already own. (and love) And also your thoughts on the Jeff Hardy "My Life My Rules" DVD series? I saw that in the store the other day, not knowing it existed... almost bought it but....
My wrestling budget was overextended this month with the jacked up WM26 PPV cost and also bought ringside tickets to an upcoming house show....So before ask my wife if I can spend more cash on wrestling and since I'm generally in agreement with your opinions, I'd be interested to know what you think of them.
Posted by: rob | March 23, 2010 4:01 AM
am i the only one who finds Edge boring on the mic and especially in the ring?
i think Christian is the same.
my most anticipated match is the MITB match.
these other 5 matches mean nothing to me. oh well actually - the michaels/taker and punk/mysterio matches will be great to watch
Posted by: Mike L | March 23, 2010 5:44 AM
it surprises me that you haven't put the triple threat match between legacy.
i don't know why so many people are choosing hbk-taker. this is reportedly hbk's last WM. Oh! and he is putting his career on the line against someone who hasn't lost at WM! what a coincidence!
jokes aside the match that i really want to see is rey-punk. i think rey being forced in the SES could make up for one hell of a storyline. and it couuld end with the mask vs hair everyone has been anticipating at summerslam.
Posted by: Chiskabob | March 23, 2010 7:19 AM
I'm thinking we may have a surpise match if a mitb winner cashes in- im thinking christian on edge? it's a natural feud plus with them having a mitb ppv it would make sense to get rid of the briefcase early
Posted by: Alizini | March 23, 2010 7:36 AM
Just more proof that nobody cares about John Cena, unless your under the age of 12. Has there been a less liked top guy in WWE history??? I guess its good long-term since they're getting all these kids to love wrestling (Much like Hogan did), but for short-term, isn't that great.
Posted by: AJ | March 23, 2010 8:08 AM
I am looking forward to seeing Bret back in the ring. Kevin, do you think he will pull on the pink and black or go with a new look. It may not seem important but for nostalgic reasons it would be awesome to see the original look with the shades. Chuck in a sharpshooter and that is enough for me.
Posted by: Anand | March 23, 2010 8:49 AM
One thing that's surprised me is that almost everybody thinks 'Taker will win, but I don't think it's that cut and dried. Everything I've ever heard indicates that 'Taker himself doesn't care much about the streak, and I would not be surprised if he sees in HBK a credible challenger to get this albatross off his neck without much repercussion. Plus, wrestling protocol is to put over the guy that put you over, so logic would say that 'Taker will put HBK over.
Posted by: Ken Raining | March 23, 2010 8:49 AM
Out of all of them Punk vs Mysterio is interesting me most at the moment but I don't think it will be a great match and Mysterio will inevitably win so I'd have to say Jericho vs Edge or HBK vs Undertaker.
I fear HBK vs Undertaker won't be as good as most people are expecting and there may be a dodgy finish to avoid the streak ending or HBK leaving. So on that basis I'd have to go for Jericho vs Edge.
Posted by: Rexel | March 23, 2010 10:36 AM
i voted for taker hbk but it was really a tie with punk and rey . i think punk and taker win. this will not be the end of hbk. i believe hbk will have taker beat only to have triple h cost him the match.
Posted by: Wyman | March 23, 2010 10:37 AM
Hey Kev, now that you are doing these polls what are your thoughts on making a wrestling bracket like the NCAA bracket? You could put each matchup on and we would vote. The seeds would be highly debated, and it's definitely a lot of work for you, but pretty entertaining in the end.
Posted by: Mark K | March 23, 2010 11:49 AM
These are all great matches but I voted for Batista v/s Cena to really see who is the face of WWE. Despite being a huge Michaels fan, I do not think he'll be able to save the career. Edge-Jericho & Hart-McMahon have both created more heat on their Road to Wrestlemania, so I'm also looking forward to it.
Before EC, I said that 'few wants to see Y2J-Edge' and you questioned me back. Now 1 week before WM, I apologized. Their Road to Wrestlmania was awesome and I mostly changed my mind due to the new 'Spear' chant. It's just mind-blowing.
Now a question: Could there be a double knockout in the HBK-Taker match and if Yes, will the streak be 18-1 or remains 17-0. Will still HBK career end?
Posted by: KingScorp | March 23, 2010 12:06 PM
As usual, I am in the minority in my wrestling preferences. I am most intrigued by the CM Punk v Rey Mysterio match. Here are two guys in excellent shape, with superb ring skills, who have a decent storyline going...and, it is a matchup we haven't already seen a million times.
Jericho v Edge should also be entertaining because they are still two of the best in the business and have complimentary styles.
The other matches, well, let's put it this way- if they were on Monday night while TNA was airing a Nasty Boyz match or a Hogan/Bubba interview then I would likely watch them, otherwise I am not interested.
By the way, anyone who didn't check out the Hall/Waltman pic link someone submitted several blogs ago missed out on a seriously good laugh! Thanks for that one. Made my day.
