Notes on Sting, more TNA releases, Mickie James
TNA president Dixie Carter posted on her Twitter account that Sting has renewed his contract and “he said he wouldn’t miss Monday’s live show for anything. Can’t wait to work w/Hulk.”
In other TNA news, Sean Morley (the former Val Venis) and Roxxi are gone from the company.
Morley actually had a somewhat prominent role on Thursday night’s episode of Impact, as he had an angle with Jeff Jarrett. At this stage in his career and after working for years as a glorified jobber in WWE, Morley really didn’t have much value to TNA in my opinion. He said on his Facebook page that he is going to be wrestling in Mexico, where he was a star in the ’90s before going to WWE. He also said that he had hoped to work in both TNA and Mexico, but was unable to because of a scheduling conflict.
Roxxi returned to TNA in December and pinned then-TNA Knockouts champion ODB in a non-title match on Impact, but she suffered a broken ankle a short time later in a match against Hamada on the New Year’s Eve Knockout special. According to pwinsider.com, Roxxi was not under contract.

Mickie James wrote on Twitter Thursday night that she underwent surgery on her leg on Monday and again on Thursday. It had previously been reported that the surgery was due to a staph infection.

I was hoping to see the reuniting of Bischoff and Morley-maybe a return of Chief Morley because of what went on last night, but that was a short-lived reunion. I was waiting for the Dudleys to rebel against the Bischoff-Morley regime and get screwed out of the tag titles again-shades of 2003.

The one I pity most in regards to Morley's release is Daniels.

Hi Kev,
I wish Val Venis the best but I agree with you. I just was not into his TNA character. His character reminded me too much his WWE character. I just did not feel he was doing anything new or special. And I was over his WWE persona/character years ago.
As for Sting, I am glad he renewed his contract. He still can contribute something to the business despite his age especially to TNA if he is used correctly in good story/angles. I actually think he has gotten better in the past couple years as a performer vs. the Sting from WCW. Some of the promos he cut especially when working with Kurt Angle and AJ Styles before were great!
By the way, any news on RVD signing with TNA? Is it a done deal?

TNA is facing a major problem with the size of their roster. A lot of their talent, many of whom need to be featured on a weekly basis to establish momentum, are featured sporadically sometimes going weeks without appearing on television. There are 2 ways TNA can fix this problem.
1. A new standalone show (risky)
2. The more economical option of making wholesale changes to the roster or 'downsizing'.

Sting is a HORRID worker. I'm not sure how it translates on television, but I was live at the Impact Zone for Destination X 2009. Sting vs. Kurt Angle was one of the worst main events in PPV history and you could see Angle become visibly frustrated with the lethargic old man. Even the crowd couldn't get into it.

i'll take tna seriously when they do one thing , change beer money's name, has to rate as one of the worst names in wrestling history, till then i'll take them as a joke of a wrestling brand. Tna is wcw and ecw rolled into one which is great because wwe is making a mockery of the great name ecw once was. Please change beer money's name, its a joke.

I have never understood the appeal of Sting, especially after he started to dress up like The Crow. His move set is limited and HHH-like in its believability, and although his promos are adequate, none of them stand out in my mind. With that being said, I am apparently in the minority on this, so if TNA wants to pay him good money, they could make worse decisions (and they have).

I am guessing the Sting haters have yet to see him live. The guy.. for his age, is a machine. He works Exactly as he needs to, and does what he has to.
Post event. the guy will take HUGE amounts of time with fans. Even big favourites like AJ and co are gone after 5 mins of meet'n'greet.
Morley is off to mexico.. hope he enjoys it down there.. being his roots and all.. GL to him.
Roxxi leaving didnt suprise, she has been to scarce to really cause more than a murmur.
RVD on TNA? Hope they have plans, because with everything going on atm.. his segment will be short ;)
