Is Awesome Kong gone from TNA?
Awesome Kong sent out a tweet earlier today that seemed to indicate that she had been released by TNA, although there has yet to be any confirmation from the company regarding her status.
Kong posted the following on her Twitter account: “I’d like to thank [TNA president Dixie Carter] and all of the employees at TNA for wishing me the very best in my future endeavors.”
A TNA spokesperson declined comment to pwinsider.com when asked about Kong’s situation. One-half of the TNA Knockouts tag team champions with Hamada, Kong’s photo and bio still appear on tnawrestling.com at the time of this posting.
Given all that has gone on over the past six weeks behind the scenes between Awesome Kong and Bubba The Love Sponge, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if Kong has been let go. She reportedly asked for her release in January following a backstage physical altercation that she initiated with BTLS.
Even though Kong is an accomplished wrestler and a ratings draw for TNA, it’s hard to say whether WWE would be interested in her if she is available. She does not have the “diva” look that WWE prefers, but that could work in her favor if WWE wanted to push an “anti-diva” monster heel.

Comments
Screw the entire Divas division, Kong should be fighting for the Intercontinental Championship.

If true, I'm done with TNA.

Awesome Kong and Beth Phoenix might make a pretty good tag team.

Oh, I hope we get the dream matchup of Kong vs Beth Phoenix in the WWE. Although Kong doesn't match the profile the WWE wants for women "performers. This matchup could actually headling a WWE PPV if they do it right.

And the countdown begins....I think if I'm Spike TV - they should have the right of going over who gets hired/fired to over rule stupid decisions like this one..no wonder Daffney was put over..Kong was the female "Vader" & a dynamic talent / this reminds me of WCW releasing Stunning Steve Austin & Cactus Jack ..ah yes both Bischoff moves, why didn't you stop them Kev?

WWE should pick her up. A program between her and Beth Pheonix could be really great.

Can't help but wonder how an Awesome Kong/Beth Phoenix feud would go down. The Glamazon vs. The Amazon!

Look how they treat Gail Kim since her return, and she was a Dive before her TNA days... Even if WWE took on Kong (which I think would be highly unlikely), she'd never get a real push.

I just can't see the WWE having much use for her. Who could she possibly work with, outside of Beth Phoenix? The only reason that they'd bring Kong in is if they suddenly decided that they wanted to make the women's division a serious part of the show, and I don't see that happening. Still, a piece of me was hoping that Kong was going to come storming out during the pillow fight tonight.

Matthew is on to something when he suggests putting Kong and Beth Phoenix together in a tag team.
I would go a step further. Kong and Phoenix as WWE Unified Tag Team Champions. If Chyna could hold the IC belt then why not shake up tag team wrestling in the WWE to its very core? It would certainly generate buzz.
Vince just needs to believe in the art of the possible.

Nice move TNA. I can see the braintrusts in Bischoff-hogan regime are really making TNA great. Not!

really jammy? your blamin her release on bishoff?

I hope Kong comes to the WWE, Evan Bourne, Ziggler, Hardy and most certainly MVP, could use a slumpbuster right about now!

Kev,
Do you think this is TNA's biggest loss to date? I'm not just talking about Knockouts (things continued when Kim left) but the whole company. Seems like she's the biggest name, possibly other than Christian, that left the company.
I hope she doesn't go to WWE. Other than Beth, who can hang with her. Maybe she'll be like Hansen and be a fixture in Japan. She'll make tons of money and keep her dignity, the latter of which would not happen in the WWE. Vince would probably have an angle as her being Kamala's daughter.
Yeah, I believe Vince is racist, but that's for another post.

Even better, how about a mixed tag team...Awesome Kong and Great Khali vs. Beth Phoenix and Big Show.

Kong should have been the longest riegning champ in TNA history..she should have been paid like the superstar she is.At this point she can go back to Japan or AAA in Mexico make more money and get treated better.Vince would be served well to bring Kong in,give her a huge push, give her a LONG title run but...Thanks Kevin and as always God Bless.

If not Bischoff than who? Hogan/Bischoff was probably in Dixie Carter's ear saying " We can't work with her anymore - let her go" Its a total selfish move on their part and not for the good of TNA - because Awesome Kong lived up to her name and was the biggest asset (literally) TNA had in the Women's Division - I see her making an apperance at Wrestlemania - look out whoever wins the Women's WWE title - expect a powerbomb from Awesome Kong

Kong / Mark Henry romance angle. Book it!

Did anyone else see the story TMZ put up last week about Awesome Kong and Bubba the Love Sponge? I guess she said someone called her from a private phone number claiming to be Bubba the Love Sponge. She said the person threatened her and called her racial slurs. So she went to a Florida court and filed papers asking the judge to allow her access to Bubba's phone records allowing her to prove it was him. If she is leaving TNA, I wonder how much that had to do with it?

If management was behind her, then Kong could do well in WWE. She could be the dominant monster heel that Phoenix failed to be.

TNA demonstrated that the "Ladies Division" could draw a following but under Ho'-gan the only one seeming to benefit is Lazy Von Erich.
Fine. I hope VKM picks up Ms. Stevens and does utilize her monstress heel persona to pick up the ball TNA dropped: Develop that division, and let TNA have the T and A.

She doesn't really fit with the WWE "image" for the Divas, but then again, she represents a unique opportunity for 1) McMahon to jam a thumb in the eye of TNA and 2) to get what would be a REALLY unique character for the women's division.
Yeah, they had Chyna at one point, but I don't even think she did a ton of wrestling against other women. What better way to establish the beauty and grace of some of the women than to bring Kong in as a contrast?

All this talk of Kong to the WWE is laughable and thats putting it nicely. If Kong ever set foot in the fed, they would make her a 'WWE Superstars'-quality prelim comedy act.
She would be carrying Hornswoggle on her hip as he would be her love interest, until of course The Great Khali decided he had to hit that.
Go ask Gail Kim and Vance Archer how former TNA talent is used on WWE TV.
Note to Kong: If the phone rings and it's Vince, run for your life and never look back. Go to Japan to make your money. At least they'll book you as a freakshow that people can respect. Cya back in TNA in 2012!

This is a big loss for TNA. I thought they did a great job of using her up until the last few months. Hopefully the WWE will pick her up and put her in some matches against Divas that can bang (Jillian, Phoenix, M. James).
