Goldberg: 'I am in negotiations with the WWE'
The Internet Wrestling Community has been buzzing the past few days about the possibility of Bill Goldberg making a return to WWE.
This news isn’t coming from a wrestling Web site quoting anonymous sources, it’s coming straight from the man himself. Goldberg wrote on his Twitter page that he is in negotiations with WWE. Obviously this is a surprise considering that Goldberg has had almost nothing good to say about WWE since his one-year stint with the company ended in 2004.

On Wednesday, Goldberg wrote: “YES.. I am in negotiations with the WWE. Looks like 'ole Hogan and TNA missed the boat. Shame for the fans they didn't even try.”
Goldberg also addressed a potential return to wrestling on Thursday: “Is it out of the question for me to have 1 more match? Answer is no...my son has never seen me wrestle and I'd love to see his reaction.”
As to why he would consider going back to WWE, which is something he said in the past that had no interest in doing, Goldberg earlier today wrote: “My desire to return to the wrestling world in any capacity is based on the fact that if I continue to let my issues with the business stand in the way, I'd be very selfish. Times have changed and I don't work for people anymore.....I work with them. Depriving the fans and my family would be a shame.”
Goldberg, 43, has not wrestled since his infamous match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in 2004 at Madison Square Garden. Both he and Lesnar were booed out of the building, as the word was out that both guys were leaving WWE.
Personally, I’m skeptical that we’ll see Goldberg working for – or with – WWE again. I got to know Goldberg a little bit when I worked for WCW, and while I thought he was a nice guy, I never got the sense that he was a big fan of the wrestling business. I think he viewed wrestling as just an opportunity to make a lot of money once his NFL career fizzled out. Perhaps he is looking for one more big payday, but I just don’t know how much value his name has at this point.
There has been speculation that WWE is interested in inducting Goldberg into the WWE Hall of Fame next year since the event is in Georgia.

Kev, youre absolutely right. This is about business. It makes sense for both parties, it keeps Goldberg out of TNA hands, as far fetched as the idea is stranger things could happen...hell the Nasty Boyz and NWO are back! Plus it sets up perfect for a big final match next year with Wrestlemania in Atlanta, along with a possible Hall of Fame appearance. Even if Goldberg never wrestles another match a guest hosting appearance will bring ratings. Plus with Vince now in the movie business its a great move by Goldberg to get on board and move away from the low budget flicks he's been in. with the WWE he's already got a built in audience and unlimited promotion. Its a win-win, unless you're TNA.

"Perhaps he is looking for one more big payday, but I just don’t know how much value his name has at this point."
Goldberg's name will have much value once the Apprentice season is done. It all fits because Goldberg already has all the connections necessary and he's in that show which gives him enough exposure for people to remember him.

I wouldn't be surprised if WWE signs him by Sunday and has him interfere in the Vince-Bret match. It's a long shot, but they could use Goldberg retiring Bret 10 years ago as the storyline. Usually they place a big return or debut at or right after Wrestlemania (Brock Lesnar in '02, Goldberg's debut and Kevin Nash's return in 2003, Edge's return in 2004, Umaga's debut/return in 2005, and Great Khali in 2007).

Goldberg back in the WWE does excite me a bit, if he actually does a program and does more than just being a guest host. I think he was a phenom along the lines of the Ultimate Warrior - Both ultimately fizzled out soon after their peak, but man, both had incredible peaks.
Goldberg is still a huge guy, and I'm guessing he's agile and strong enough to still do his signature moves, like the Spear and the Jackhammer. I don't see the harm in giving him some television time on WWE. (If this was TNA, of course, he'd be booked to win the title in a Contract-From-A-Pole match, and AJ Styles would wander in the desert for five months after losing.)

I got the impression from Bret Hart and Jericho's books that Goldberg was a good guy, but he rose to the top before he fully understood the wrestling business, inside or outside of the ring. His approach nowadays seems pretty wise, though. Done right, a short Goldberg return could be a good situation for everybody (the fans, WWE, and Goldberg).

The one thing missing from this Wrestlemania is the mania. The card is solid but it's missing the celebrities. Celebrities take the attention away from the wrestling but isn't that what makes / made Wrestlemania?

Heaven help us! It didn´t work the first time and I doubt it would work the second time.

Goldberg was a huge draw thirteen years ago, but times have changed; demographics have changed. It's hard to imagine a repetition of his glory days, or anything even close.

I for one would love to see Bill Goldburg back in wrestling! I believe his name still has value and it just depends on the roll he has in the WWE! I believe once he comes back it would be no time before he is in the ranks of the best!

When he was booked as undefeated and then Hogan jobbed to him in Atlanta I thought it was too soon (Is 75 or 76 to soon?) but I figured that the writers knew what they were doing and Hogan, who made Flair do the job as a signing issue, looked as if he was passing the torch. There was another guy that was being booked as undefeated in WCW at he same time and I always thought that he and Goldberg should have squared off. I can't really recall his character's name, it may have been something like Storm. Do you remember that guy, Kevin?

I think Goldberg would be perfect to fight the Undertaker for next year Wrestlemania. Undertaker and Wrestlemania has been a event in itself. It is no longer just about Undertaker fighting guys as part of a angle. Undertaker fighting in WM is now a angle in its own with his streak always being on the line and people wondering if he will lose it. Its not as if he can just fight any wrestler now a days in WM. He has to fight a big name who gives us the illusion that they may beat Undertaker and end the streak. Goldberg is the perfect wrestler and big name for that. What a match that would be.

I think bill should return 2 the WWE.

Heck yes, Goldberg was awesome. I just can't believe the new WCW...I mean TNA...hasn't tried to get him. If they were willing to work with...ugh...Scott Hall, then they should've definitely gotten Goldberg. But I can never respect TNA for signing nothing but old talent and not pushing their own (aside from AJ Styles and Samoa Joe). They screwed up with CM Punk too. Anyway, back to Goldberg...I think it's an awesome idea as long as he doesn't pull a Jeff Hardy and, as soon as he's on top, decides that he doesn't really care anymore and screw himself over. Oh, and Chris Jericho owns Goldberg ftr...He beat him like what? Three times by countout or forfeit. Chris Jericho is the best of allllll time.

I think TNA dropped the ball here big time... Golberg has matured a lot as a businessman since he has left and his other shows like Bullrun show his name still has some weight... Him returning would be a great way for WWE to start puttin the nails in TNA's coffin since they have decided to compete... Id like to see him return, he looks ready and able... just depends on if hes willing i guess.
