What WrestleMania XXVI card might look like

It will probably become clearer after tonight’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view what the WrestleMania XXVI match-ups will be. Judging by what has been happening on TV, here is where I think things are headed as far as the top matches:

John Cena/Bret Hart vs. Batista/Vince McMahon: I don’t think we’re going to see a singles match between Hart and McMahon, so it will either be a tag team match or Cena vs. Batista with Hart and McMahon in their respective corners. There is a possibility that Cena wins the WWE title in the Elimination Chamber, and his match with Batista is for the championship, but I don’t think that’s going to be the case.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels: I have been hoping all along for it to be Michaels vs. Triple H, and The Undertaker vs. Cena, but there’s little chance of the former and no chance for the latter. I’m betting that Michaels gets into the Chamber match tonight and causes The Undertaker to lose the title.

World heavyweight champion Chris Jericho vs. Edge: Jericho takes the title in the Elimination Chamber and Edge chooses to face his nemesis for the belt.

WWE champion Sheamus vs. Triple H: Sheamus manages to come out of the Elimination Chamber still the champion, and Triple H gets the title shot at WrestleMania, where he wins his 14th world championship. The last time Triple H wasn’t in a world title match at WrestleMania was 2001 (excluding WrestleMania 23 in 2007, when did not appear due to injury).

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk: There’s a good chance this will be a Mask vs. Hair Match.

Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase Jr. vs. Cody Rhodes: The three members of Legacy battle it out to prove who was the real star of the group. I would expect Orton to be a babyface by the time this match rolls around, and DiBiase and Rhodes to be heels who don’t get along.

I agree with everything except the Sheamus/HHH match. In my opinion, Sheamus will not stay champion after tonight. To me either Orton or Cena win the title.

For the Smackdown chamber I'm still going with Morrison to win.

Oops sorry that last post was me.

I agree with all your picks. They seem to really make sense with what has been happening on the shows.

I think it's one of the best cards in a few years. I'm excited to have my tickets for this one.

What do you think the divas match will be this year?

and what type of match will they put together to get Kofi, Miz, MVP, Morrison, etc.. on the show. There's got to be something....

I'm disappointed that there won't be a MITB match, but I guess they will make more money by having a ppv dedicated to it.

So much for me buying Wrestlemania. The Edge-Jericho match is the only one that interests me.

I sincerely hope you're wrong about one thing. Why the hell would they want Sheamus to be on a world title match at Wrestlemania? They have way better wrestlers not on this card, he's simply not getting over with the fans and I hope they see it.

Another thing: why is there just a slight chance in everybody's mind that Cena vs Batista will be a title match? I mean, Batista has obviously been promised a title match by Vince come on!

I agree with everything except the last one. I think it will more likely be a handicap match. And I definitely do not agree about Morrison winning the smackdown chamber. Before you weren't even saying he was going to be in it?

The most disapointing, underwhelming WM card in history at this point- hope I am wrong, but not a lot to get excited about or look forward to-

I posted this earlier on a different forum...
I wrote that I'd liek to see batista to become champion before WM26 and have him interfere in the bret hart.vince match (if it happens) causing vince a win and having bret challenge him instantly ala WM9 and win the title becoming the only superstar retiring as champion in history...

now the batista won in this fashion at elimination chamber id like to hear your thoughts...

Well it looks like your prediction of Cena vs Batista being for the title was right... kinda.. Batista is now the champ thanks to shenanigans by Vince after Cena won the Chamber match.

While I was looking through wwe.com just now, I noticed the listing of the future ppv's and noticed that one is titled Money In The Bank. Is it possible that the WWE is gonna move the annual match from Wrestlemania and make it the focus of its own ppv? Sure seems like it.

Kevin,
What are your thoughts on the "no Money in the Bank" on the card?

And on a larger scale, what are your thoughts on a whole of the entire card? Do you think the buyrate will be up, down, or level with these matches here listed?

Thanks.

Kevin,
I have to give props to International Championship Wrestling. They are here in Korea to entertain the troops. We hear so much about the WWE and what they do for the troops that I had to mention the ICW. As a wresting fan since the early ‘70s, the Baltimore Civic Center and upper section 22, I have seen my fair share of matches. I would have to give this card a 3 out of 10. The Korean crowd did not know how to react and wondered how these guys could get up after such a beating. I drew a lot of stares because I was the only one rooting on the bad guys. Friday night’s card here in Seoul went like this:

Eugene vs Kevin Thorn, with crowd favorite Eugene coming out on top even though he entered the field house exactly 8 minutes before his match. Thorn although menacing in the ring signed autographs before and after the show and took many pictures with fans.

Disco Inferno vs Doink the Clown Disco was his usual arrogant self. He took the match to the Clown, beating him soundly to the jeers of 300 people in attendance.

Hardcore Holly vs Billy Gunn, this was the main event and lived up to it. Although the ICW is like a B movie, this match was thrilling to the point that I think Holly or Billy Gunn could be mid carders. The crowd did not know who to root for as both guys were heavily cheered until Holly got a chair from the audience. After that, Gunn had the crowd eating out of his pocket. Holly prevailed.

Raven vs Scotty Too Hotty, Scotty had the crowd on his side almost immediately. Raven incited the crowd by saying he was an ex-marine and hated the Army. When he wasn’t wrestling, Raven signed autographs for the fans…a real nice gesture. Scotty got the win.

Steve Anthony / John Saxon vs Cameron Cage / Awesome Andy, a good match full of high flying action. The crowd was really into the match as it never slowed. The crowd got to see some blood after Cage’s nose was bloodied from a boot to the face. Anthony and Saxon got the pinfall.

She Nay Nay vs Irresistible Danielle, a terrible match as they grabbed each other’s hair and merely rolled around the ring for two minutes. The referee gave several counts to release the hold before he disqualified both wrestlers. She Nay Nay probably had jetlag as she arrived with Eugene just before the show.

The show was well worth the price of admission….free!

Steve in Seoul reporting…

Jericho wins! I am so happy that the best at what he does is now holding the belt.

No one can touch Jericho right now, on the mic or in the ring, he is a living legend.

Only guys who come close are Christian and CM Punk, either of whom deserve a run with the other belt.

At least Taker vs. HBK will be interesting this year because there's a chance Michaels may win. Last year it painfully obvious Taker would win and none of the"false finishes" had me fooled.

Oh I forgot to add something very important to my "Elimination Chamber thoughts" post, and that is:

Jericho won! Jericho won! Jericho won!
Just as Andrew said, finally, the best in the world gets what he deserves!

As far as this possible Triple H - Sheamus match at Wrestlemania is concerned, maybe we will see Triple H putting over Sheamus. I mean, they won't headline or main-event and no title is at stake, and Sheamus' win wouldn't appear as a too early push at the grandest stage of 'em all, either.
What are your thoughts about that possibility, Kev?

With the current stipulations of the Undertaker vs HBK 2 match I get the feeling this could be either or both of their last wresltemania. Thinking about that got me thinking back about both of their contributions to wrestling over the last decade. Then I just really went off track with my thoughts, so I have a very late question for you Eck.
What was your favourite tag team over the last decade? Not the one that you thought contributed the most, but the one you personally liked. For me it has to be Kane and The Big Show. Two monsters in the ring at the same time it was always just Epic.
Any way if you do answer I hope there is no Talk of bias if you pick DX as I did ask for your favourite and in my opinion DX was great.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Favorite team of the past decade? I'd have to go with The Hardy Boyz with Edge and Christian a close second.

Oh yeah the five second pose! Very nice pick
