TNA making ‘major announcement’
TNA has issued a media advisory that TNA president Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan will be making a major announcement at a news conference Monday, and the belief is that it will be regarding Impact’s permanent move to Mondays.
According to wrestlingobserver.com, the move would take place next month, although not on March 1, as was originally reported by The Observer last month. During a radio appearance a couple weeks ago, Hogan said that he was pushing for the show to move to Mondays, but “nothing has been confirmed.”
As I have said in the past, I think Impact going head-to-head with WWE’s Raw on Mondays is a good thing for TNA and for fans. There is a segment of the Raw audience that doesn’t watch TNA on Thursdays, but they may be willing to flip back and forth on Mondays since they are already watching wrestling at that time anyway. I don’t think Impact will beat Raw in the ratings or even come close to doing so, but I do think TNA can grow its audience by switching to Mondays. Plus, direct competition will likely push WWE not to rest on its laurels, so it’s a win-win situation.
Note: My thoughts on Thursday's episode of TNA Impact won't be posted until Saturday. I inadvertently left my notes at home and I will be at the office until late this evening. For all the conspiracy theorists out there, it's an honest mistake and not meant as any kind of slight to TNA.

You left your notes at home...well my dog ate my homework....just kidding.

if they r smart they will Thursday is a horrible night for wrestling especially the demographic they are after in most major cities that is college bar night so alot of young adults are out on the town that night but you rare probably right about them never taking over because if WWE stays with this current format then TNA will get destroyed very eaily but I think on mondays they can atleast push their ratings to a 2.0 but if they were smart they would use Monday as their main show keep thursday for the X-division & knockouts to show case there talents. but what do i know im just a fan and also it would afford hogan to do what ever he is doing alongside letting daniels, ODB, MCMG etc showcase their talents.

Sure. Notice how you never lose your notes to Raw or Superstars. Probably still flustered from your Miz conference call. Is he your new boy toy? Is HBK yesterday's news?

I couldn't help but laugh at your last comment. Kev my man, haters gona hate and, sadly, there's not much you can do about it.
The majority of us know you call it as you see it, keep up the good work.

I'd prefer live over Monday, in a perfect world we'd get both.

Oooo, a major announcement! They haven't had one of those in a while.

See! You forgot your notes because you weren't even thinking about TNA! You spent the whole day in eager anticipation of Boy Toy finagling his way into the elimination chamber on Smackdown! I would call you a TNA hater, but it's hard to hate something when it isn't even on your radar!
Just kidding.

While you retrieve your notes let me say that TNA is really building I just hope that the notorious Hogan ego can stay in check a while longer because it is a fun product right now. Although Hogan nailing Hall and Waltman you could see coming from a mile away.
Now if they can continue to keep Bubba and the Nasty Boys off of TV they have a real chance to keep the shows great.
Bring on the Monday Night Wars.

Everybody ready for the Monday nighy wars 2

You take down notes while watching wrestling? Damn, you're dedicated.

Off topic, but have you heard this bull about WWE ending the Survivor Series in favor of a new "gimmick" PPV?

Major announcement = TNA is signing these guys. Why?
1)Their entrance theme music.
2) Their average age is that of Hogan, Flair, Nash, & the Nasty Boys.
3) They move with as much, if not more, fluidity as the above listed talent....

Once again TNA does something "in the news" that has absolutely nothing to do with actual wrestling.
You could always take new notes by watching a replay.
NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Last night, I went to a TNA house show in Norfolk and it was very entertaining. JB announced and the action was like watching it on TV. They were also extremely fan-friendly providing picture & autograph opportunities with several wrestlers including Flair and The Beautiful People. After the main event match between Angle & Styles, Angle got on the mike and thanked the fans and the military for all they do. He said to tune in to Impact on Spike on Thursday nights and soon on Mondays.

I'd forget about TNA too. If Hogan would just bring his "name" and popularity to the show as a draw and check his ego at the door I might remember to watch again.

Please....No more Major Announcements from TNA. Watching Dixie and Hogan is painful and embarrassing.
Dixie has had so much plastic surgery that she frightens children and adults. She also sounds crazy.
Hogan is pathetic. Still using language that was en vogue during the 1980's is sad and embarrassing. I take Elvis Impersonators more seriously than Hogan. You are 60 Hogan, grow up.
At least Ric Flair manages to change with the times. Flair is like a fine wine. Hogan is like spoiled milk.

Nope - I don't approve of the switch to Monday as I want to see MNF during the season. Much prefer the Thursday night TNA iMPACT show.
However, if we are going to have a return of the Monday Night Wars, let's have the equivalent of the Nitro Girls, the nWo, a new Miss Liz & Woman & Queen Debra. These are the things that gave WCW the popularity edge back in the day. Otherwise, you can bet that WWE with its "entertainment" will win in the TV ratings game.

I think the most interesting aspect of this saga will be what does Kev blog first? Raw or Impact?
Posted by: Wayne | February 13, 2010 12:41 PM
Submitted as a jump point:
This week's edition of TNA iMPACT! drew a final 1.19 rating with 1,613,000 total viewers.
This week's edition of WWE Superstars drew a final 1.02 rating with 1,174,000 total viewers.
That's one company's "main show" and one's "D" show. I just don't see how TNA can come close to competing with WWE. There will be no war.

Kev,
Just wanted to say I look forward to your blogs each week. I appreciate your straight shooting coverage of TNA. I'm sure it would be easier to play nice with them considering you interview their guys as much as you do WWE guys.
Keep up the great work.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I appreciate the kind words. Fortunately, there are people in TNA who get it that I just call it as I see it. Believe it or not, no one wants TNA to be great more than I do.
