TNA Impact rating drops
After TNA Impact did the highest rating in company history for a Thursday episode last week, it took a step back this week.
Thursday’s episode did a 1.2 rating (1.6 million viewers), down from the previous week’s 1.4 (1.9 million viewers), according to various reports. To put it in perspective, a TNA show that featured marquee names such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and Mick Foley, barely beat Thursday’s WWE Superstars, which did a 1.0 with an episode that had little star power.
I’m guessing Hogan will go with the theory that the rating fell because Bubba The Love Sponge and Sean Morley weren’t on the show and The Nasty Boys only had a cameo.

1.2 versus 1.0? I never realized the Thursday Night War was that close. WWE Superstars nearly ran TNA out of business!

Kevin, I think TNA going away from what made them different is a mistake. The six-sided ring and the stable of good young wrestlers and older but not decrepit wrestlers made for a new and exciting property. I think the addition of Hulk Hogan and his cronies did a disservice to the brand. The move to Mondays opposite RAW would be a mistake. It almost seems to me that Hulk Hogan and his crew are trying to do to TNA what they did to WCW.

Ooh, there's some snap to that last line. Auditioning to replace the Macho Man in some Slim Jim commercials?

Well put. TNA still has to contend with being the 2nd rate brand...but when hardly competing with WWE's 4th ranked show, it shows they're still a long way from any sort of 'war' let alone on Mondays.

This is why it makes sense for them to stick with the quarterly Monday shows, because even if some people stop watching on a weekly basis-like what's happening right now-they'll still come back for the special quarterly shows on Monday night.

Kevin, why don't you just come out and say that you hope Tna fails and goes out of business? Your thinly veiled hostility is pretty obvious. As a fan of wrestling, I find it incredible that you wouldn't be in favor of some competition for the tired and stale Wwe product.
RESPONSE FROM KE: You couldn't be more wrong.

The WWE RAW rating has dropped the past two weeks yet I don't see a individual post headlining RAW's decline - what's up with that?
RESPONSE FROM KE: TNA set a ratings record last week -- which did get a headline here. Isn't it logical that you would come back the next week and see if it went up or down? I think you've been watching Jesse Ventura's "Conspiracy Theories" too much.

A bit of a shame cause to be honest other than the Nastys and Hall and Six pac this was one of the best shows i've seen from either company in a long time. POPE is the future and the segment with Flair, Styles and Joe was the goods, should have been the finish. . .

Isn't this what's wrong with an oversized roster? Too many wrestlers for the audience to follow or care about. That reminds me too much of WCW, and the guys you wish would disappear are the guys shoved down your throat the most.

And let's not forget that many major areas do not even get Superstars! (Including myself, and I live about a 20 minute train ride from the Garden!)
TNA has gone from tolerable to terrible.

I thought this rating would reflect last weeks show... not this weeks. hey I'm just saying

1.2 is still a decent rating for TNA. I mean before Hogan TNA were averaging roughly 1.0 so this is still not that bad. I think they started and ended the show weakly so that was an issue. Beer Money which is arguably the most over tag team in the world havent been on TV for ages. Daniels and the X-division are barely on. They are some of my issues with TNA. But then again, we could be getting a MOTY candidate at the next ppv with Joe v AJ. However Flair and AJ's heel gimmick could turn that match bad.

This all has to be a secret elaborate planand thats what i am sticking with. Until things improve this is all i will post.

Hogan is so out of touch that he will blame those factors. His best days were when he was taking orders in WWF. He's proven time and time again that he cannot produce good storylines/shows.

Hey Kev, I know you're an ODB fan, is she known for working stiff?
This is from Lisa's (Tara) FB:
"Lisa Marie Varon: Going back to bed. Odb gave me a black eye, Chipped front tooth, Sprained ankle and cut on my back. But I still won yay"

TNA does seem to spend way too much energy coming up with story lines for the old guys and talk the talk but have not yet shown any success in getting the younger talented guys with upside in more of a prominent role. I hope Hogan proves me wrong but I don't see any indication that he knows how to do this any more than just providing lip service to how talented the TNA roster is.

I think the reason WWE is such a better product at times is the depth of characters and their personalities. They are unique at times and recognizeable. Like the old AWA with the great characters and interviews. TNA has serious potential if they could get more mic skills and faces like Mr Anderson, etc. You may not like him, but he stands apart from people like Eric Young and others on that show because of his mic skills and entertainment value.

Do you think the first episode of NXT on SyFy will score above or below a 1.5 rating? It would be a bit humbling to TNA if it scores above a 1.5 rating.
