Details on WWE NXT
The WWE NXT show, which premieres next Tuesday on Syfy and replaces ECW, will be a hybrid live event/reality show featuring eight well-known WWE stars mentoring eight WWE developmental wrestlers, according to a WWE news release.
WWE refers to the young wrestlers as “rookies,” although veterans Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) and Kaval (Low Ki) are reportedly among those on the roster.
“This is a unique combination of heart-stopping entertainment and gritty behind-the-scenes reality,” Syfy president Dave Howe said in the release. “The NXT Rookies take the challenge of our new tagline ‘Imagine Greater’ to heart as they embark on their ultimate dream quest to be the next generation of revered heroes and champions in the fantastic arena of the WWE.”
The show sounds similar to WWE’s “Tough Enough” series, which ran on MTV in the early part of the decade.
WWE did not release the names of the veterans or “rookies” who will be on the show, but pwinsider.com, citing WWE sources, reported the names of the developmental talent. The report, however, listed nine names, not eight. In addition to Bryan and Kaval, Justin Angel, Skip Sheffield (who was on the fourth season of Tough Enough as Ryan Reeves), Joe Hennig (Curt’s son), Brett DiBiase (Ted Sr.’s son), Darren Young, Heath Slater and Michael Tarver were on the list.

Sounds fascinating! I'm looking forward to see Danielson and Kaval show what they got. I've never seen Danielson wrestle before but have seen Kaval/Senshi, who's very athletic and talented, in TNA.
Perhaps Ted, Jr. will mentor his brother?

Hold it... this sounds a lot like Tough Enough.
This doesn't bode well.

So Danielson, ahem, I mean Bryan, will be going from "The Best in the World" to "The Best Mentee of Some WWE Superstar Who's Probably Not as Versatile or Talented".

No that cannot be. Vince said this was innovative and the next phase of television so it cannot just be a different spin on an old concept because Vince said it was not.

This sounds like it's going to be worse than awful. Poor Brian Danielson and Low Ki. They deserve so much better =(.

If this means that Chris Jericho and CM Punk will not be appearing on Smackdown or Raw anymore because of this show then I think this is a complete disaster! They are arguably the two best on the mic that the WWE has right now.

The thought of The Miz "teaching" anything to Bryan Danielson is silly....

I think they should keepted ECW on tv there othere nights that has no peo wrisling to have this to. So ge ECW back on tv. now that you see your fans talkin about this. I am not saying not to have this on but you can add more on tv. If you do not I hope TNA dose just to get you fans to see theres.

The miz should not mentor anyone even an roh guy that is pretty good. The miz should be replaced with the big show because the miz dont have as much experencie as alot of the people on the list. I dont know if you agree or not but take matt hardy, chris jerico, christian, and MVP for ex. they have alot of expericence in the ring the miz has a good aresnal of moves and alot of years under his belt but Danial bryan is better than the miz. IF you agree good if not then i dont really care

this is an absolute joke. how can the miz be the pro and the "american dragon" bryan danielson be the rookie? yet another example of vince mcmahon killing another talented WRESTLER.but i guess that's what you get when you give your daughter the head of creative roll in the company. why is it that big meat heads get the push constantly ,over talented wrestlers. you see one john cena match and you've seen them all. that goes for batista too.why change the name of bryan danielson to bryan daniels? he's had a very succesful career and anyone who's anyone knows who he is so why think we've never seen him before. tha american dragon must be absolutely killing himself that he didn't go to TNA. he should be main eventing at wrestlemania not this ''reality'' nonsence.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to say it, but: I wonder if Bryan Danielson regrets signing with the WWE. This is just embarrassing. They could have at least paired him with Jericho.

The Miz mentoring Bryan Danielson... that's sorta like Kiko Garcia mentoring Cal Ripken, Jr on how to play shortstop.
And what's up with them making him change his name to Daniel Bryan? Somehow, I don't think Ring of Honor will step in with a lawsuit saying it's a copywright infringement to use his real name.

Interesting.
But isn't reality TV dying?
I'm mildly interested, though. Let's put it like this: I'd rather watch an "'American Idol' of wrestling" than 'American Idol".

The Miz has come a long way, but still... The Miz mentoring Bryan Danielson is like Ronald McDonald mentoring Wolfgang Puck.

Kaval being snubbed from the NXT roster tells me one of three things: He's about to be called up to the main roster (fat chance), he'll be a casualty of WWE's annual 'spring cleaning' roster cuts after 2 years in FCW (Colt Cabana style), or the NXT show wanted 'Daniel Bryan' to be the standout star of that show from a competitive standpoint.
And what's Miz gonna teach Bryan Danielson? How to make the most out of a reality television career?

I think TNA is happy there going to Monday nite if they were still on tuesday with the new NXT show they would get lower ratings then now....NXT is a great way to showcase new stars without killing them on primetime.....Kevin have question for u I been a finlay fan since I first saw him wrestle as a 15yr old any reason y he isn't wrestling on WWE........... Thanks

Now, if fans chant 'you're gonna get your f------ head kicked in!' Before Bryan Danielson's matches, The WWE will have more than enough time to edit it out.

Between Christian losing the ECW title in the final episode, The Miz mentoring Brian Danielson and Jewel hosting Raw, you would think that Vince McMahon is trying to turn us all into TNA fans.

Does anyone else find it insulting/offensive to wrestling fans to have the Miz be the mentor for Brian Danielson? Danielson has been wrestling longer than the Miz, and it seems the only thing he could teach the American Dragon would be to cut his moveset down and develop a lame catch phrase..
I'll say it - I'm ready for Vince McMahon to pass the WWE on or pass away.

These new guys won't stand a chance without these curret superstars watching their everymove. I want to see them get pass these guys, Undertaker, Kane , Big Show, Edge, John Cena, John M., C.M. Punk, Luke G. JTG, and Shad

I'm skeptical about this working. The miz mentoring Bryan Danielson...now yeah the Miz has improved a lot...but that's a slap in the face for Danielson.
Danielson is arguably one of the finest ring workers in the world and to be treated like an inexperienced rookie on an American Idol type of show is embarrassing.
Kev, do you think maybe Nigel 'Desmond' McGuiness dodged a bullet by failing that medical...?

I would guess that the reason Bryan Danielson had to change his name is so that Vince can trademark or copyright it. Can't let a wrestler get the exposure on WWE and then go to another company. That would be bad for business and just embarrassing, now, wouldn't it?

Sounds pretty interesting. I don't have a problem with the Miz mentoring anyone. It sounds like they are giving the guy the best chance to stand out. Miz has done reality shows in the past so this can't be a bad thing. Remember the NXT rookies are learning how to be WWE superstars, not wrestlers. The Miz is one of the WWE future main eventers and he has accomplished a lot in the past few years. Obviously it would be more of a thrill to be mentored by Jericho but any of the superstars advice would be helpful.
Overall I'm more excited about peaking into the "behind the scenes" instruction the superstars will be giving the rookies because ultimatly the rookies will not be sucessful without the fans support anyway. It may give the superstars a different avenue to connect with fans too.

This is very cool and obviously the Miz isn't going to teach this guy how to wrestle.
I'm a wrestling fan and the Miz was a joke for a while but the fact is the guy is really good on the mic and that's what makes superstars these days-The Rock, Austin, HHH, Cena, Orton, Jericho, etc.
