Conflicting reports on The Undertaker’s injuries from pyro accident (with video)
The Undertaker suffered first and second degree burns on his chest and neck as the result of a pyro accident during his entrance at Sunday night’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, according to wrestlingobserver.com. The report said that he worked the match “in tremendous pain” but he “refused to shorten the match.”
WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman, however, categorized the injuries as less severe. “Thank God he was fine. It basically amounted to a sunburn,” Zimmerman told The Riverfront Times in St. Louis. “It wasn’t over a large area of his body, just a short area, just a little bit on his chest.”
Zimmerman said the accident was the result of “mistiming with the pyrotechnics.”
As The Undertaker was walking down the ramp on his way to the ring for the main event, he was suddenly engulfed in flames. He quickly threw off his long jacket and jogged toward the ring. The accident was not shown on camera, although the announcers did remark how unusual it was that The Undertaker did not make his usual slow walk to the ring.

Man, I thought he was walking faster on purpose. The announcers did an excellent job of covering for it. They convinced me that it was on purpose. Finally, Michael Cole does something well.

Might not be as conflicting as one would think; a first-degree burn is essentially like a sunburn, while a second-degree burn could be a really bad sunburn. Obviously, WWE wants to play it off and not make a big fuss, but it's probably nothing to worry about.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I'm no doctor, but I believe second-degree burns can be quite serious.

was that why his face had a bunch of yellow crap on it tonight in the promo with HBK ?

Hadn't heard about this.
Is this why Taker had some yellow goo on his face tonight on Raw?

I was really upset, until I read that the Undertaker wanted to finish the fight. But I work in the medical field and the first I thought of was his welfare, Im a big undertaker fan and have watched him for years. Just hope that he doesn't retire completely WWE Smackdown would not be the same.

I wonder how quickly the pyro guy was fired after that incident took place.
It was awkward when Mark Henry tried to eat Undertaker like a big piece of bacon after the show.
Thank you.

On RAW tonight, they had the fire pyro for his intro, but you could see once he walked onto the stage it stopped -- and then it didn't start again until after he cleared the stage. I doubt they'll have him walking in between fire balls any time soon.

I had second degree burns on my chest and back before. Basically, it was a burn that blistered. It was miserable for a week or so and my skin was sensitive for a while after that, i.e. no suntanning for a while. Third degree burns are when the skin is actually charred and blackened.

Dangit Kane! You need to be more careful when you hail a cab or put on underarm deodorant backstage.
That's what you get for having pyrokenetic powers that are manifested through the raising and lowering of your limbs.

Taker is the man for his professionalism. He's had this happen a few times to him and generall no-sells it like a champ.

hay kev was that a storyline or was it real did he really get hurt,
RESPONSE FROM KE: It was real.

I thought there was something weird about how 'taker made his entrance, but I figured he was just doing it to save time because Chamber matches take so long to start what with everyone else's entrances. Cole did a good job of covering for it though, and if 'taker really was in so much pain but still wanted to work a long match and do everything as it was planned, he should be commended for being the professional that he is.

Perhaps they can use this as legit reason for The Undertaker's perma tan....One would think The Deadman should be a tad whiter...

HE was also sans coat and hat on RAW last night.

That's probably the reason for both the yellow on his face, and his unusually high-buttoned jacket and collar.

It certainly would explain the yellowish marks on The Undertaker's face and neck. It might also explain why he was wearing more concealing wrestling attire. I wonder if his chest got the brunt of it.
Under the circumstances Taker is lucky. My mother sustained second and third degree burns on her arm in a kitchen accident about a year and a half ago. Her recovery was slow and she still has to see a burn specialist out of province to check on her status on a regular basis.
I'm not surprised Taker competed in Elimination Chamber. But I do wonder how this injury will affect him in the long term. Burn victims don't feel the full impact of their injuries until days, week or even months after the incident.
With that I wish The Undertaker a speedy recovery and hope the WWE will help facillitate that process.

Well, that explains why he wore his old entrance getup from the Ministry days to the ring last night on Raw which covered his neck and chest, instead of the leather trenchcoat.

thanks kev i thought it was real but had to make sure cause you know what the wwe like they do things that look real but are really fake thanks again for replying back

Damn! he is lucky that could have been alot worse, it looked like he went completly up in flames for a second. it was almost like when metallica had to call off a show because a pyro went off on the lead singer.

I'm glad he is ok, a burn around the chest, neck and mouth is no joke. The Undertaker is a true champ for continuing the match but, I wonder how many of the HBK's Flair like chops will be used at WM.

At WrestleMainea, would be an ideal time for Rick Flair, to get some pay back on Shawn Mickaels, corsing him to lose to the Undertaker, asking Mickaels, how it feels.

I guess it's just normal for in any situation to have an accident every now and then. However, I believe it was his showmanship that won over during those moments since he pushed through finishing his act.
