Video: Bret Hart saluted by WWE stars after Raw went off the air
The video has been on wwe.com for several days now, but just in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet, here is a link to what happened after Raw went off the air Monday night.
While Bret Hart was standing in the ring after his show-closing angle with Vince McMahon, a number of wrestlers – both babyfaces and heels – came down to the ring to salute “The Hitman.”
It was mostly mid-card performers who came out for the show of respect, with the biggest star being Chris Jericho. Among those who did not participate were Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton, The Big Show, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes.

Comments
I was unaware of this, so thanks for linking to it. It was especially nice to see Bret shake hands with Jericho. Other websites had reported that Bret had stuck his foot in his mouth (yes, he does do that from time to time) while critiquing a book of Jericho's, so it's good to see that things are smooth between them.

Well Trips and Shawn (regardles of there truce I doubt he was going to go down there and be all chummy) were a given in not coming down. Big Show sucks up to Hunter and has taken some cheap shots at Bret in the past. Dont know about Cody or Orton but Dibiase Jr is glad to see him back from this interview he gave so I doubt he has heat with Bret.

I know what Kevin is trying to infer here but its not going to work.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't know what you think I'm trying to infer, but I'll spell it out -- and it's probably not what you think. I think it says a lot about the guys who didn't come out. To me, it makes them look bad. The heels can't claim that they didn't want to break kayfabe, because Jericho, Swagger, Carlito and others did it. Triple H clearly has a problem with Hart coming back to WWE, so it would have been hypocritical for him to come out, but it would have been a nice gesture if Michaels went out there and shook Hart's hand when it wasn't scripted for tne show.

@ Kevin Eck
Do you believe there was anything sinister in DX, Legacy and Big Show not coming out to the ring or do you believe it was to protect future storylines? The fact that wwe put this on the website maybe suggests this. Also, do you believe Bret will join the Hart Dynasty? Surely it would make sense. Maybe Dx Vs Hart Dynasty at the rumble? The Harts are currently heels, maybe they would have to turn on Jericho to change this? Cheers Kevin and HNY

This almost brought tears to my eyes.

I think that Jericho is one of the best in teh business. As a heel he can make everybody hate, probably even his own mother. As a face, he seems ot have just about everybody love him. I think that this all goes back to Jericho as a person. As I read on here here i believe, Mark Henry was there because he was i teh WWE when Hart was last. Jericho trained withteh Hart's. But I also believe that Jericho is well aware of how improtant of an occassion this was in WWE history. I never would ahve expected HHH or HBK to be out there, nor would I have expected Legacy to come out for this. It was good to see the guys that would nto be i this position if it had not been for Bret.

Poor turn out for one of the most anticipated comebacks of all time. Where are the top stars to respect what BH has done, and will continue to do for WWE?
Jericho is out there, but then Jericho is a decent guy in and out of the ring. Disgrace that so many of the top guys refused to come out.

DeBiase Jr may not have been there in form, but likely was in spirit. Slam Wrestling has an article about him meeting Hart...

No surprise that HHH didnt manage to make it out.
Am I the only one that thinks there should be a HHH/Vince vs HBK/Bret Hart angle? That makes perfect sense and kilss several birds with one big, 12 year old stone!

No HHH, no Miz, no Sheamus...?
I think I know why about HHH, but do you know why the others did not come?
RESPONSE FROM KE: Miz was out there. Look over Bret's right shoulder when he is hugging Jericho.

I grew up watching the Hitman and he is and was by far my favorite wrestler of all time...I even bawled my eyes out, for an hour, when I was 6 at WrestleMania IX when he lost the title. This video was most awesome to see....and despite what people say, no matter what, in my book, he will always be the best there is, the best there was, and the best will ever will be!!

What I thought was interesting about this video was when Jericho went to shake hands with Bret, Jericho leaned in and you can clearly see Bret say to jericho "It's been pretty tough", "This night's been pretty tough". Interesting but probably appropriate comments given his history in WWE especially with how he left, VKM, Michaels and other incidents.
I believe he and VKM have been on speaking terms for a long while and that has allowed Hart to come back. I do know that Hart and Michaels did have their rift personally and professionally way before Hart left for WCW.

My guess why DX and Legacy did not come out is because I really believe they may be in the story lines leading to WrestleMania as I reffered to in the Poll thread.
With that said, I'm not sure who else(Big Show) didn't come out.

Maybe, that was planned that certain wrestlers don't come out to salute Bret. Maybe, WWE wants us to believe that these wrestlers that didn't come out, have some heat with the Hitman, because WWE is planning to have a future storyline involving DX (it was sure that they won't salute Bret), Orton and Legacy ?!?! Orton did already propose to kick Bret in the skull. You know what I mean. Just a thought.

To me, this is sort of like the HoF that Bret insisted HBK not attend. It's Bret's moment, and no one else's. Anyone who thinks they might detract from his spotlight or his comfort level should have stayed away (which is, essentially, Trips and Shawn).
I have no idea why Orton et al wouldn't have come out, though.

I havn't watched RAW in a while; I just watched the recaps on Smackdown & ECW.
I must say, the look in the eyes of Mark Henry and DH Smith at the end when they have Bret hoisted on their shoulders and are literally looking up to him was very moving.

Touching moment, guess I'm not to suprised about HHH or Shawn not being out there. It was really neat to see the younger superstars genuinly in awe of someone, or at least that's what it looked like. In other non related news congrats on the Ravens victory it's amazing that the defense hasn't lost a step since the departure of Rex Ryan, here in Dallas we're more relieved than anything to get that massive monkey of off our backs.
RESPONSE FROM KE: Ravens-Colts Super Bowl?
Posted by: Kevin | January 10, 2010 9:45 PM
Hey Kev sorry to burst your bubble but the Ravens are playing the Colts this Saturday or Sunday in a divisional playoff game. Maybe Ravens-Cowboys? Who knows? I would be more inter-ested in a Jets-Ravens AFC Championship game. All I can say is that if Bret Hart can return to the WWE, than anything is possible.

Hey Kevin,
I came across this story in the Calgary Herald regarding Bret's return on RAW:
http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/Back+Ring/2425695/story.html
Interesting read, and there's a part talking about the Hart/Michaels interaction that seems to answer a bit of the "real life" question people have asked:
It's no wonder many wrestling commentators were skeptical when Hart and Michaels made nice on Monday night's Raw. But Hart insists the moment was "pretty real."
"We had a rough idea of what we were going to do . . . but we didn't really speak to each other (before)," Bret says. "My impression was that (he) was actually pretty sincere. He apologized for a lot of what happened. . . . I think it was like a million pounds off of his back. . . . There was a couple of times when it looked like he was going to start crying.
"There was a lot of real emotion in that little segment. . . . I think it was a surprise to him as much as to me."
There's a little more after that talking about the money side and the family legacy.
