Mick Foley blogs about Awesome Kong-Bubba The Love Sponge incident
Mick Foley wrote about the recent physical altercation backstage at a TNA Impact taping between Awesome Kong and shock jock/TNA personality Bubba The Love Sponge on his blog, The Foley Files, on tnawrestling.com.
After reading Foley’s blog, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that the fight between Kong (Kia Stevens) and Bubba – which stemmed from his crude remarks about the relief efforts in Haiti – was a shoot and not part of an angle. Knowing Foley and his sensibilities, there’s just no way he would write about the incident if it wasn’t legitimate.
Foley takes a very even-handed look at the Kong-Bubba situation, and also expresses his feelings on the notion that the U.S. should be more concerned about taking care of problems at home rather than worrying about people in far-away countries, an opinion that Bubba expressed by saying, “F*** Haiti.”
“She probably should have handled the situation differently, and in retrospect, I think even Kia would admit that she may have let her emotions get the best of her,” Foley wrote. “I happen to like both people involved – and, no, I’m not just saying that because Bubba is Hogan’s buddy. ... But I hope people – TNA management, Bubba himself – can understand why the situation was so emotional for her. I don’t want this situation to hurt anyone involved, Bubba included.
“Bubba and I had a little conversation about the F-word, and how a comment that may not have seemed so offensive to him, could be so hurtful to others. We even had a good, respectful conversation about it on his radio show the next day.”

By the way, Wrestlers 4 Haiti, a group that Kong helped put together, has raised over $6,000 for the relief efforts through social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Pledges for the Wrestlers 4 Haiti fundraising drive can be made via PayPal at Wrestlers4Haiti@gmail.com.

Comments
When I got comment of the week, someone wrote that me doing a better heel turn than AJ Styles. I would say that was subtle hint towards my heel turn, like CM Punk cashing in his Money in the Bank shot on the Charismatic Cokehead. The following comment is my ACTUAL heel turn, like when Punk attacked Hardy the Smackdown after Night of Champions...
"Eck, you may believe that Bubba the Love Sponge is a jerk, but I see him as a hero. He's a hero of free speech. He has brought back the spirit of Lenny Bruce, Thomas Jefferson, William Jennings Bryan, and John Peter Zenger to the American discourse. It's people like you, Kevin Eck, that want to stifle the opinions of men like Bubba and Opie and Anthony. Well, sir, I say to you, if you can have your little blog, then Bubba can have his Twitter account without people like you slandering him like the reds and other liberals smeared Joe McCarthy.
And speaking of you, Eck, I remember when you made my comment comment of the week a while back. I was in the spotlight. It was MY moment. Everybody praised my comment, saying that it was the best comment they'd ever seen. Then what happened? Oh, that's right. Kevin Eck, the man who thinks he's better than everybody else because he worked for WCW Magazine, decides to let some medicore commenters have an exchange about Jack Swagger and other unrelated topics- at the expense of my comment! Eck, this blog has been holding me down ever since I started reading it in June 2008. I read every post and commented time after time and what did I get for it? Nothing! And finally, when the spotlight is on me and I have the comment of the week, what do you do? You screw me! Well no more, Eck. The days of you and your blog ruling over the Maryland wrestling scene are over. There's a new kind of commenter on this page and I will not be edited, deleted, or disrespected. People will read your blog for MY comments, not for your Baltimore Ravens-like little insights (and by "Baltimore Ravens-like" I mean "crappy". Cliff is the present and the future. Kevin Eck is the past."

I am so amazed that with all the problems in the world that how to help Haitians would cause a fight. Round up the usual comments "Racism..greed..etc"
They are not Haitians they are people! Why cannot people understand this, you help who you can help! regardless of where they are. 30,000 Haitians were without diabetes supplies http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/how-to-get-normal-blood-sugar-levels-on-your-own-1768500.html Should we leave them without?
Why is helping others always such a problem

Hey Kevin, maybe you missed it, but I'd think you would've wanted to let everyone know that Mick will be in town on 2/3 doing a comedy routine. From the bottom of his blog:
"SEE MICK FOLEY ON HIS UPCOMING COMEDY TOUR DATES
February 3 - Baltimore, Md
The Baltimore Comedy Factor
(410) 547-7798
baltimorecomedy.com"
RESPONSE FROM KE: I appreciate the head's up. However, that date is incorrect (not sure why it wasn't changed on his blog). I exchanged e-mails with Foley yesterday and he said it is being rescheduled for Feb. 24.

What a great blog. I'm talking about Foley's but yours is good too Kev :)
I think he presents the argument brilliantly, the point about how the complainers should donate within America is a good one.
I am from the UK and as you no doubt know your international reputation isn't the best right now so its nice to be reminded of the true America and the values we all share as human beings.
There are many countries around the world suffering from the current economic problems but it comes nowhere near close to the suffering of people in Haiti right now. If your neighbour was starving you would do something, no borders or oceans make Haiti any different.

@Cliff the heel commenter
Nice try, Cliff. But I don't think that you're gonna retain your "comment of the week"-title. There's just been too many funny comments about Kev's new pic.

Mick Foley proves once again why he's not only a great entertainer, but a great human being. Thanks for the link, Kevin!

RE: Jasko
Do you think it MATTERS to me anymore whether I get comment of the week anymore? No, because I realized that any recognition that Kevin Eck decides to impose on me is meaningless. It's always about him and never about any of us. Every comment that I make is comment of the week. I don't need anyone to tell me that it is or isn't. I am the best in the world at what I do and all you gelatinous parasitical worms can only wish you had the fortitude and stamina that I do in the world of blog commenting. And no, I'm not ripping off Jericho- Jericho rips off me. Now go make a comment about that!

There are still many people suffering in Haiti but the good news is that millions have been donated. One church sent 100,000 dollars all from the member pitching in. There were also mass prayers to od for these people. In crisis humans forget differences and find love. Maybe that's why God allows disasters to wake us up.

"people like you slandering him like the reds and other liberals smeared Joe McCarthy."
Well that says ALL we need to know about Cliff. One of the most disgraceful periods in American history, and we find out Joe is a hero to this guy. So Sad.
