« A live perspective on Raw: DX Army takes over | Main | Q&A with Jesse Ventura »

What happened after Raw went off the air

After Monday’s episode of Raw concluded, there was a post-match angle done for the fans at Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena.

DX was on the stage playing to the crowd, while Chris Jericho glared at them from the ring. Suddenly Big Show came from the back and took out both Shawn Michaels and Triple H. After all four were in the ring, Randy Orton ran out to give the heels a three-on-two advantage. Then John Cena’s music hit and the babyfaces cleaned house. Jericho and Big Show bailed, leaving Orton in there alone with Michaels, Triple H and Cena.

Realizing he was cornered, Orton extended his hand to Triple H and proposed that he and DX join forces to take out Cena. Orton began crotch-chopping while Triple H thought it over. Orton was pretty funny here as he stepped out of his “viper” character. Triple H and Michaels acted as if they were going to take Orton up on his offer, and Cena got a worried look on his face.

Of course it was all a swerve. Michaels super-kicked Orton, Triple H gave him a Pedigree and then Cena finished him off with The Attitude Adjustment. The babyfaces all celebrated in the ring and the crowd went home happy.

Note: Immediately after the show was over, a lot of the WWE talent and crew got on buses and headed to Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, where they boarded a plane for Iraq to do the Tribute to the Troops show. Before Raw went on the air, I interviewed WWE chairman Vince McMahon as well as MVP, The Miz, Kelly Kelly and Eve about the annual show. I’ll be using their quotes for an upcoming story in The Baltimore Sun about Tribute to the Troops.

Kev,

Do you have any idea when the guest hosting gimmick is going to be done away with? I'm obviously looking forward to The Rock, but none of their other future hosts do anything for me.

RESPONSE FROM KE: It seems as if WWE is really happy with it, so I don't think it's going away anytime soon.

Is that you in the pic Kevin? A little different than your graphic on the blog. Time to update the pics. I always get a laugh out of the reporters picture in my local papers. They seem to be from their first year on the job. 20 years ago.

Anyways, congrats on scoring some interviews. That is one major benefit to your job. You get to speak with entertainers that you love watching each week.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I knew someone would comment on the pics. Yes, it's me. The head shot at the top of the blog is about five years old. I'll get a new one at some point. BTW, I don't usually look like that in the interviews pics. A bunch of guys in the office and I decided to grow beards for no good reason. It's coming off soon.

I wonder if the DX breakup has been put on hold based on them being so over, selling merchandise in droves, etc. and the rumored Wrestlemania finale will still be between HBK and HHH but with both of them as babyfaces? Your thoughts...

RESPONSE FROM KE: I wouldn't be surprised at all if they wrestle each other as babyfaces. In fact, that what I think (hope) will happen. We've already seen Triple H turn on Shawn, and I don't think we'll be seeing Shawn turning heel.

Kev,
Is Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly wearing anything under that coat??

RESPONSE FROM KE: Yes, but not much.

Damn Kevin! Getting to talk to Eve and Kelly Kelly in one night. You are one lucky man.

shocked they didn't end it with orton, jericho, big show, dx and cena sharing ice cream together.

Interesting. Although you say that you interviewed Vince, MVP and your fav, The Miz, the two pictures show>/i> you with Double K and Eve...

RESPONSE FROM KE: Ah, I knew someone would bring that up, as well. Here's the deal: Before we could shoot photos backstage, we had to get permission from someone in WWE. While I was waiting for permission, they got me MVP and Miz. After I was done with those two, I was told it was OK to shoot the photos, so we did with KK and Eve. When I got my one-on-one with Vince, he said he would rather not do photos (he was wearing a sweat shirt).

I must say Kev..the similarities between you and Charlie Haas facially is amazing.

Come to think about it, I have never seen you 2 in the same place at the same time...hmmmm

Reveal yourself!

sincerely, Paul Burchill

Eck, um don't you mean Mr. McMahon?

kev whats up with the beard

RESPONSE FROM KE: A bunch of guys in the office and I decided to grow beards. Why? It just sounded like a good idea. We agreed to grow them for five weeks, at which time a panel of five female judges in the office would decide who has the best beard. Thankfully, the winner will be selected this Saturday. On Sunday, I will be clean-shaven.

I know how you feel with the beard... nine months ago I decided I wouldn't shave for nearly two months in order to do a sociological experiment for a project. I had to make a questionary to the people in the middle of the street under different crcumstances. one of those circumstances was that I had to look like a total douchebag.

I think every man has a phase in their lives in which they find an excuse to grow their beard just because they think it's fun.

No shave November!

Is this the first time you've ever gotten to speak with Vince?
And what is your impression of him...does he come off as a phony, or is he a completely different person when there aren't any tv cameras around?

RESPONSE FROM KE: That was my first face-to-face with Vince (except for a 5-minute radio interview when he was in character about 10 years ago). I've interviewed him three times over the phone. He has always been a great interview; very cordial, and nothing like the confrontational TV interviews he has done with Bob Costas and HBO's Real Sports. Then again, I am not asking him controversial questions.

Kev, the toughest wrestlers all have beards, you should keep it.
Look at Sheamus....he grows a HHH sytle beard, and gets a title shot.
Beards are obviously the way.
