Hulk Hogan predicts big rating for TNA Impact going against Raw
Hulk Hogan predicted on a satellite radio show that TNA’s three-hour live Impact on Jan. 4, which goes head-to-head with Raw, will do a 3.0 rating.
Wow, I thought Hogan was smarter than that, brother. He has to know there’s very little chance of TNA coming close to that number, so why set the company up for failure? Why not just say that it’s going to be a great show, they got some big surprises and that their goal is to eventually beat WWE?
The best rating Impact has ever done is a 1.3. I’m not sure the show could get a 3.0 on Jan. 4 even if the people Hogan is bringing with him are The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shane McMahon.

Is TNA heavily promoting the January 4 show?

He's a human hype machine. No knows that no one is going to call him out if the show doesn't actually reach 3.0 (which it won't).
His in-ring skills are gone, but he's still one hell of a promoter. He knows how to work people.

I've thought since the beginning that Hogan is in for the very, very short term. He's using TNA to promote his wrestling tour and the book. I doubt Hogan is still involved with TNA by March. He probably doesn't care how foolish he makes TNA look.

Hey Kevin, have you heard the report that Austin is still under WWE contract so that he can't work for rival cable networks of USA and so they can still sell new merch? Do you have any idea if this is legit?
RESPONSE FROM KE: I have heard that, but I'm not certain how true it is.

I agree completely Kev, I think this will be a big, good show, but if I remember correctly doesnt this go head to head w/ the Fieta Bowl?? Neither show will do a 3 as many fans, like myself, are huge college football fans.

God bless TNA if they think the group of Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Vince Russo will actually be good for business. Those three lost more money in one year with WCW than any wrestling promotion in the history of the world.

When Impact inevitably falls short of that number, Hulk will have the opportunity to point out the "guys who can't draw" to Dixie Carter.

I'm glad this idiot realizes that he is going up against the Fiesta Bowl. Sure, the national audience may not like two Non BCS teams as much as USC vs OSU (I shudder at the thought of that game again) but TCU vs Boise State is going to be a hell of a game and frankly, there are maybe 8 million people total that would every watch wrestling on Mondays. This is cut into by MNF, other Monday programming like 24 (my personal favorite), and other sporting events. Of those 8 mil, 5 mil already watch Raw and will continue to do so. Thus, at best TNA does a 2.3. Realistically, they will get no better than a 1.5. The fact is the only past wrestler that the public cares about anymore is the Rock because he is on SNL and in main stream movies. Everyone else is a footnote. But hey, if Hogan wants to think that Ed Leslie can bring in 3.7 million new viewers, we can only be glad its Dixie Carter's money to lose and not our own.

I thought SCSA was under contract to WWE just for movies?

Kev,
I'm probably going to take a lot of heat for saying this but I hope TNA's ratings skyrocket and WWE's start to go down. When WCW was rivaling WWE, WCW almost outdid the WWE. However, the WWE really did some great things. This is when we started to see Stone Cold and The Rock come to fruition. These two guys are two of the top performers (not wrestling skills) in the history of the WWE. They brought so much attention to the WWE and made the WWE enjoyable and entertaining. Since the fall of WCW, the loss of the Rock and Stone Cold, the WWE has really gone down hill in my personal opinion in terms of entertainment. I would watch Raw or Smackdown just to see these 2 guys. They made it enjoyable to watch. If TNA can push the WWE it may cause them to "step up their game." I personally feel that the WWE has become very stagnant and boring. The things that made the WWE fun to watch and entertaining (for myself and many that I know) is gone. I turn on Raw or Smackdown every once and awhile during commercials of something else I'm watching (if I'm watching TV at all during that time). The guys don't possess the "Mic" skills or charisma of the Rock, Stone Cold, (Old Jericho), and many others. Honestly, the most entertaining person on the Mic is Vince McMahon.
I just think that if TNA can push the WWE and "steal" some of their ratings, you might see the WWE pick it up. I've said before that I know half of the guys in the WWE now and when I watch the WWE it just doesn't entertain me anymore. It's very stagnant I feel and the episodes are the same every week. I think the guest hosts is a good idea but put someone exciting on the show. Verne Troyer? Al Sharpton? Dennis Miller? Nascar Drivers? That doesn't make me want to tune in. Some of the guest hosts I haven't even seen before but I read your posts and read your feedback on how they did on the show. You have much more knowledge and expertise than I have so if you say they did a good job I believe you. However, even if Mark Cuban and Seth Green does a great job, I have no interest in watching Raw because they don't excite me. If you told me the Rock or Stone Cold was a guest host, not only would I watch all of Raw, I'd DVR it as well. I just feel like the WWE is the "800 pound gorilla" and feel like no one can touch them. As a result, they can have someone like Verne Troyer host and people still tune in. If TNA did really well it would push Vince to bring back a Rock or Stone Cold type person to draw a big ratings, even if he had to pay a hefty sum. Just my two cents, thanks for listening :)

When Hogan said "3.0", he must have meant his son's BAL when he crashed his car, not the Impact rating.

I'm so torn about TNA's decision to bring in Hulk Hogan.
The kid in me who grew up in the 80s is really excited to see the Hulkster.
The more logical adult in me says this is going to be a train wreck of epic proportions.

Id love to see TNA fall flat on their face, mainly as I want to see Hogan face removed from wrestling for good.
He is a deluded, bitter old man who has just made Russo look like a genius in comparison.

Why are these comments considered newsworthy?
We all know that Hogan makes outlandish, unrealistic statements purely for attention and has been doing it for more than 20 years yet still the wrestling media eat it up.
Why?

For all of you doubters out there are you forgetting who all is envolved in T.N.A? come on now everyone is sitting here downing t.n.a but really the wwe has been stagnant for years!!!! the only reason that wcw went under whether you like it or not was cause turner wanted out and vince had the money to buy eric bischoff was a day away from buying him out! come now i am a huge hhh, undertaker, shawn michaels, and batista fan but you can only see the same matches so many times wwe is boring come on angles like piggy james no offense towards mickie cause i love her she is a great in ring performer! but the skits they are running are absolutely ridiculous! and pushing nobodies like shameus please, where did that moron even come from i agree with giving new talent a shot at the spot light but at least make it someone that deserves it!
t.n.a has the best WRESTLING product out there right now, and the edition of hogan and whoever else that genius decides to bring in with him is only gonna make it better i truly hope that the wwe does get a fire lit under their butts cause wwe did do their best when up against wcw! but in the end i personally hope to see hogan, carter, jarret, and the rest of tna management through wwe to the wolves! I am a huge supporter of alot of the wrestlers in tna! Styles, Daniels, Morgan, Sting, Nash, Young, and so on there are to many there to name but you get the point!!!!

I think Hogan will revive the main event mafia and he will become the new leader...As you know Nash is teasing some sort of reunion by saying "The band might come back together".I think Nash is referring to MEM.What do you think Kev?
RESPONSE FROM KE: Possible, but I wouldn't have much interest.

In my opnion TNA has far better wrestling than WWE. I could watch Joe V styles V daniels every day. Morgan is gonna be huge and throw in abyss, storm and the legends (Sting, Hulk, Foley, Nash...) - whilst TNA doesnt have the expensife production costs and the huge stadiums, its better wrestling - plain and simple. I am not a fan of womens wrestling but TNA actually make it good. I can't watch HHH take over the wrestling world. Shaun Michaels jump around like a ping pong ball in every match. Taker doing the same match every PPV (has Taker done anything new in the last 10 years - I like him and his gymmick is way over, but pushing him as a "submission expert" as TLC commentators said is a joke). Batista is awesome but having boring matches, and WWE having tag matches as the main event (TLC).
If Kofi, Orton and Jericho would jump to TNA that would be the icing on the cake for TNA.
AS long as hogan doesnt wrestle in a title story line, his addtion to TNA can only be good.
Everyone is entiteled to an opinion, and whilst I agree TNA won't get close to a 3, i think as long as it maintains its current ratings on the monday night slot, it will draw many of th WWE viewers that watch both but prefer TNA (like me). Anyway - time will tell.

Win or lose , this is what used to be fun about Monday nights. The fight between deciding which brand to tune in to was half of the excitement. It cause everyone to choose sides and pumped up ratings for both sides. I say go with it

Although I don't want to watch Hogan wrestle at all, I think it was a brilliant business ploy for TNA to bring him in while WWE is hawking his DVD.
